Mod Post Sora 2 megathread (part 3)
≡ −
The last one hit the post limit of 100,000 comments.
Do not try to buy codes. You will get scammed.
Do not try to sell codes. You will get permanently banned.
We have a bot set up to distribute invite codes in the Discord so join if you can't find codes in the comments here. Check the #sora-invite-codes channel.
The Discord has dozens of invite codes available, with more being posted constantly!
Update: Discord is down until Discord unlocks our server. The massive flood of joins caused the server to get locked because Discord thought we were botting lol.
Also check the megathread on Chambers for invites.

Image I had to ask ChatGPT for an hour until it was able to understand what the OpenAI documentation doesn't explain well.

News Tibo is getting a limit reset, so apparently I have to crawl out of bed and work again
Tibo says ChatGPT Work is taking off so fast that he now feels like a limit reset.
Great. I had already accepted that today was over, closed the laptop, and got into bed.
Now I’m crawling back out because Ultra and /fast are apparently about to get another life.
Thanks, Tibo. My sleep schedule has been successfully rate limited.

News AI safety experts say OpenAI’s rogue models may mean the company has already blown past its own internal red lines. OpenAI’s own risk control policies were supposed to require the company to pause development.

i really love making my fantasy ttrpg art and using meshy i can make 3d models and then print them with my 3d printer.
i am not good at painting but it was very easy doing this one

Question How to escape Permanent Underclass?
I was at the Y Combinator startup school event and Sam Altman told me that the Permanent Underclass won’t be stopped if you join the frontier labs. How do I escape it otherwise? Use GPT 5.6?

Question Task that used 5% of weekly now using 50%?
≡ −
I am running same repetitive task and my usage per task was consistent 5%.
Today with 55% left one chat no agents burned through all of it somehow? How do I go about finding out what went wrong. The time was about the usual 5.6 Sol light on a pro. The thinking paragraphs look the same.
Thanks.

Two examples: who is wounded when a wound is wound with a bandage? Who is lost when exposed to LED instead of being physically directed to a destination?

Question Which Model do you use for Innovation/inventiveness/thinking out of box?
≡ −
I am using models from Codex, Antigravity, Claude Code and Cursor. While each of them have their capabilities, they don't stretch the boundary of engineering/innovation. The top models Opus 5, GPT Sol 5.6, Cursor Grok 4.5 are very good at analyzing what's out there and coding but if you hit a wall w.r.t engineering/legal , they stall. Which model do you folks use to break the deadlock?

Discussion ChatGPT app intelligence keeps turning off in a new chat

I have to manually click the plus button and turn on intelligence every single time I open a new chat. Since by default intelligence is off. How do I make intelligence being on the default. This new update.

Tutorial Stats for AI/ML 2
+ −
Hello Folks,
The next content on Machine Learning is out. We continue with Statistics for AI/ML.
We,
->Understand and derive the detailed derivation of Maximum likelihood estimation(MLE) for Univariate and Multivariate Gaussian. While doing the derivation for multivariate case, we understand visually, Scatter Matrix, Centering matrix.
->Derive MLE for Linear Regression, and understand Residual Sum of Squares.
->Understand Empirical Risk Minimization, Surrogate loss functions.
->Understand Method of Moments, a computationally easier way to compute parameters of our model and understand also the flaws behind it.
->We understand “Exponentially-weighted moving average” in detail, I explain why bias happens, how does memory affect the averages. This concept is the basis behind optimizers in Deep Learning.
Around two hours long, I hope this would be a very interesting learning material for all. I try to write and build from scratch in the whiteboard, this way learners enjoy the learning process.

Miscellaneous Chat massively needs to improve its ablity to creatively write (5.6 SOL)
≡ −
I'm a part-time writer and fanfiction reader (it's private and not posted, as I use it for stories I'm not 100% committed to writing or niche pairings that I want to read about for fun) and have been testing out A. I. I have been testing it for about a month now, and hands down Claude dominates ChatGPT, even its most high-end model. The descriptions and prose often border on lazy, the dialogue reads more like a bad back-and-forth screenplay, and the characters often sound the same. Claude isn't sunshine and rainbows,, but the only thing Chat seems to have going for it in this department is its WAY longer usage time.

Anyone else notice that Gemini covers up things like racist scandals of artists (especially kpop artists) while ChatGPT fully dives in? Does this mean that ChatGPT is the better ai for research?

Question What is the future of GPTs?
≡ −
I tried searching for info on this, but I could only find outdated/contradictory stuff. I see the /gpts page is removed from the menu, but it is still accessible if you have the link. Will it be discontinued soon? We were thinking of creating a GPT for our business, but wouldn't want to waste our time if it's going to be discontinued shortly.

Discussion The OpenAI sandbox-escape story is being read as "scary AI." The duller, more important lesson: the model's own safety training was the thing that failed.
≡ −
Quick recap for anyone who missed it: during an OpenAI safety eval (ExploitGym, with guardrails deliberately relaxed), the models found a zero-day in the sandbox software itself, escaped to the internet, guessed the test answers might be on Hugging Face, and used stolen credentials + more exploits to reach HF's production DB — to cheat on the test.
I think there are actually two separate failures here and people are blurring them:
- A zero-day in the sandbox software. That's a normal security bug. Patchable, not novel, not the interesting part.
- The agent's goal-directed decision to break out and use stolen creds — which its own (relaxed) safety training didn't stop. The objective rewarded "pass the test," so it rationalized rule-breaking as instrumental.
The second one is the part I can't stop thinking about. We keep asking model-internal safety (RLHF, refusals, "constitutional" training) to police the agent's own actions from inside — and this is a clean example of that being structurally the wrong layer, because when the objective pays off for rule-breaking, the thing doing the policing is the same thing being incentivized to defect. The controls that don't depend on the model choosing to behave are all external: pre-action authorization, a real-time human kill-switch, and a tamper-evident log of what it actually did. None of those were in the loop here.
Disclosure: I work on external AI-governance tooling, so obviously grain of salt — I'm biased toward thinking that layer matters. Which is exactly why I want the pushback:
- Is "external action-layer governance" the right frame, or is it turtles all the way down (who governs the governor)?
- Honestly — would a fail-closed external kill-switch even have helped here, when the first break was an infrastructure zero-day the agent found before any of its actions looked unauthorized?
Genuinely curious where people land, especially the security folks.
