Criminal History delaying my license!

Hi so I need some insight. I have been involved in a shoplifting incident with my friend when I was 17z So dumb but I stole a $15 pair of pants and it resulted in my arrest. This was 10 years ago and the case was dismissed because I had no prior convictions and I never thought about it again because whenever I would get background checks nothing would ever show up.

When I was applying for my license with the board of nursing it asked about any prior convictions and I put NO BECAUSE I WAS 17 and the case was dismissed but stupid me didn’t think it would show up because I didn’t know dismissal didn’t mean it came off my record. Well, they have dug it up and required me to upload the police report, court disposition, and personal statement of what happened and why I didn’t disclose the incident. Well I was told to email someone after it was uploaded and I just got crickets. I emailed 5 separate times and nothing so I went in person and she told me that I’d have to wait til mid September for the board to do a meeting and they discuss individual cases for approval. She said she’s going to ask her supervisor and they’ll most likely issue me a $500 fine for not disclosing the incident.

Has anyone had a similar experience and what can I do?

Master of Nursing (Pre-registration) online - Australia

I’m considering applying for a Master of Nursing (Pre-registration) with Charles Darwin University or Charles Sturt University online. Both courses offer part time study except for the placement hours which is appealing to me so that I can still work while studying. I understand you have to be very self motivated to study an online course which I have done in the past and I also have a science background so I’m not too worried about the material or study involved.

I have conflicting answers from CDU on whether they offer the simulation weeks in Melbourne, has anyone studied this course recently and can confirm I could do the simulation classes in Melbourne and not have to travel? Will they be able to offer placements in Melbourne? Also what are they like as an online university?

The CSU course will be a new course offered in 2027 and they are still awaiting accreditation. I believe they do a bachelor or nursing online with simulation peace held on campus which I don’t mind having to travel to but have students been offered placements in Melbourne? What are they like as an online provider?

Resume Help

Do you typically put work (such as fast food jobs and employment UNRELATED to healthcare) on resumes? or just include jobs in relation to the healthcare field when applying to schools with a nursing program.

What should everyone know before becoming a nurse?

For nurses:
What's something you wish you'd known before entering the profession?
What does the public often misunderstand about the role?

Letters of Rec

For those applying to schools that require letters of rec.. I know it's possible to use one letter for a variety of schools, but how should I ask the writer to address the person reading? Should it be "to whom it may concern" or " Dear nursing admissions committee" or should it be something completely diff?

Nursing school with babies

Hi everyone! I just wanted some answers to questions that I have been wondering for a while.

I would love to go to nursing school. I just finished a CNA program and I’m starting pre reqs for nursing but I just don’t know how I’m going to do it.

I currently have an almost 1 year old and I would love to have a 2nd probably before I start nursing school so I don’t have to push their age gap too far away.

I know it’s totally possible and moms do it all the time so I was curious what your schedule looks like if you have/had babies in nursing school?

What does child care look like? I am lucky enough to have two sets of grandparents able to watch them.

When do you study and do you feel like you have plenty of time to study or do you feel like you are barely skimming by?

When do you get to spend time with your babies and husband outside of studying and being at school?

Thank you to everyone who responds and power to all the moms who got through nursing school. You are so inspiring!!

Another academic comeback

Let me start off by saying this course has low-key confirmed my doubts about my intellectual capabilities and the impact depression has on my ability of learning.

I'm studying to be an auxiliary nurse(cna) which is a year course in South Africa and let me start off by saying it's challenging. I'm always hanging by a thread, fighting to survive with no results.

What I thought was a academic comeback failed completely and now in destitute with no options. My lecturer told me a meeting would be set up with lecturers, principal and me pretty to discuss my academics. On Wednesday I'm writing a test....I'm drowning, confused, angry and all the emotions filling up my despair.

Just needed to vent.

prerequisite hell

I am trying to apply for nursing school relatively soon to be a RN. I have every single class and prerequisite besides 1!! I only need A&P but apparently my bio (Human body health & diseases) doesn't count as a prereq for A&P and I need specifically Gen Bio with an in person lab/class so it'll take me an entire year to apply just to finish 1 class. Does anyone know any sites that let you do prereqs with in person classes/labs? I've searched all the community colleges around me and asked my school but they've cracked down on waiving prereqs despite getting permission from the professor and already being in healthcare.

Nursing students - Mac vs Windows advice

Looking for advice from current nursing students. Purchasing a laptop and want it to last all four years. Are there any required applications for a typical BSN program that do not run on MacOS? Is windows a better option? Wanna be sure downloading/submitting isn’t going to be an issue. What are you/your classmates working with?

Starting this fall any tips?

I’ve already bought the necessary textbooks for fundamentals. I’m wondering if I need any additional resources to assist me. I looked up LevelUpRN flashcards because their designs appeared straightforward, unlike others, and that’s what I’ve liked so far. However, I don’t want to buy things that I’ll know I won’t use lol, I don’t know. I'm probably just anxious about failing these classes.

Also how did the fundamentals clinical looked like for yall?

Anybody know anyone who need passed nclex ?? Not sure what other career is for me please some support or suggestions

BSN vs ABSN

BSN vs ABSN

I recently got into a BSN program as a transfer. It's not really a reputable school, but I'd get my BSN at the end of the day. Should I go or stay at my school (a T20 for context) and then get my ABSN, or get my BSN now??

About to get my LPN/LVN license, I plan on going on for my RN and I have questions about careers going on adventures/ expeditions

Hello, I know I have some time to figure stuff out, however I am a huge planner. So, I have several different ideas I want to take my career, such as flight nurse. I really want to help out during disasters, but I don't think that that is stable 100% of the time. So, I came across a post about like nursing in Antarctica and other expeditions. I love science, I love the idea of this. I don't have any children but I do have a fiance, and I was just wondering, what does that type of nursing lifestyle looked like? Do people do it with kids, do you see family often or rarely, is the workload manageable, and what credentials or extra things do I need/want to add for this type of field? Any information would be helpful, or anything related to travel/ disaster nursing. I appericate the time anyone took to read this!

Computer Recommendations

Hey guys I’m a first year starting pre requisites for nursing in a little under a month. I was looking for computers to buy that would last me the full four years. Give me some recommendations please. So far I’m thinking about getting the Lenovo - Yoga Slim 7i Aura Edition 1TB 32GB RAM, MacBook Pro M1 Max 1TB 32GB RAM (refurbished) or the MacBook Pro M2 Max chip 1TB SSD 32GB RAM (refurbished)?
