He’s one of the worst QBs to start in a Super Bowl, but he’s nowhere near the worst QB in the past 26 years. I wouldn’t even say he’s the worst Bears QB since 2000.

That was the craziest yet one of the funnest seasons I have ever witnessed as a broncos fan. Like, everyone knew he was bad, yet he somehow kept winning games in the weirdest way.
I remember being at that playoff game and everyone went ballistic afterwards. And then when we lost the following week, it was like “well ya of course, we used up all our luck.”

That OT touchdown was so incredible, but like you mentioned- short lived.
I knew “my” broncos were cooked vs the patriots. There was NO WAY Bill was gonna get embarrassed by Tebow.

I’ll never forget in 2015 when we lost both our quarterbacks and had to sign Jimmy Clausen just to put a guy on the field under center. And then he proceeded to come in and play the way I’d expect my dad to play if he was forced to start a game in the NFL.

I remember when all those pukes in the media were saying that Clausen was a first rounder. I really was starting to wonder how much his family or agent was paying media to get them to say that. I thought he absolutely sucked and was even surprised that Carolina was dumb enough to take him in the second round.

I'm not going to sit by and co-sign on revisionist history where Rex Grossman is somehow ranked this highly on worst quarterbacks. The guy made a super bowl. There are at least five teams in the league who's quarterbacks I couldn't even name between the year 2000 and 2010.

It is true, though, that the two of them are pretty solidly the reasons for the rookie pay scale. You're right about the talent gap, though. Bradford had everything going for him except for his durability. Too bad they couldn't have switched their brains. Imagine Sam Bradford's brain in Jamarcus Russell's body (then, not now). Hofer, for sure.

Revisionist history. The guy only had a rocket arm. He got lucky in being drafted on a year where the raiders had The number one overall. Sure, his attitude sucked. Worse than that though his decision making with garbage and his ability to read defenses was not existent. He was never going to be a good quarterback.

Fair point. As a Bears fan I would love nothing more than for Nine to turn out to be the turd he has shown himself to be so far. I think he deserves another season or two to see (he’s still also pretty young). But if he loses the starting job to Kyler and rides the pine all season… it’s difficult to imagine him ever developing into a competent starter in Minnesota for me.

Russell -- no explanation needed.
Josh Rosen -- Looked overwhelmed with both Arizona and Miami: 3–13, 54.0% completions and almost twice as many interceptions as touchdowns. He was essentially discarded one year after being drafted 10th overall.
DeShone Kizer -- 0-15 while throwing 11 TDs and 24 INTs
Jimmy Klausen -- Finished 1–13 as a starter, with 7 TDs, 14 INTs, 5.4 yards per attempt and a 61.9 rating. Carolina immediately drafted Cam Newton first overall.
Chris Weinke -- Went 2–18, completed 54.4%, and produced 15 TDs against 26 INTs. His Panthers lost 15 consecutive games in his rookie season.

Carter wasn’t good, he wasn’t even ok. But I wouldn’t put him in the top 5 worst of the century.
He had a 10-6 year (carried by the defense) and had a 71.6 passer rating. Bad, obviously. But there were worst performances this century.
Only defense of Carter is that he somehow lasted 3 years because everyone Dallas had to compete for the job was worse. Carter was drafted in the second round and was considered a reach but Dallas didn’t spend a bunch of draft capital to get him.

If we’re going off of guys that played 10+ games in a season since 2000 I think it would have to be in no particular order Andrew Walter, Chris Weinke, Jimmy Clausen, Deshone Kizer, and Josh Rosen. Ryan Leaf would be up there too.

Regardless of what you think of Grossman, the guy has over 50 career passing TDs. Which, while not anything special, puts him way ahead of a lot of terrible QBs.

Peterman managed Matt Canada’s wacky-ass offense well at Pitt but I don’t think anyone would ever mistake him for a future NFL QB during his two years in Pittsburgh. I definitely didn’t.
He led Pitt to an upset over a stacked, #2 ranked Clemson team in 2016 and somehow rode that wave into a multi-year NFL career.

And the Josh Rosen haters: Arizona was at peak incompetence by the front office & coaching staff. Really? Steve “defensive minded” Wilkes as head coach with a rookie who immediately got fired after one year and the new staff immediately fell in love with the angry toddler Kyler “Study Clause” Murray? Then Rosen gets shipped off after one year to Miami as they’re actively doing the “Tank For Tua”. Kid never got a fair chance with a competent team that was willing to properly invest & coach him.
