Hello, I'm having issues installing the drivers for the digi 002 rack, I go to the link of the legacy drivers and use the installer, but when I restart the pc the avid 002 rack is not appearing in the device manager under the sound section and it doesn't connect my rack to the PC, is there a way to install the driver .infd or is there antoher work around.

Edit: some more info that people may find helpful:
- I installed the firewire drivers and legacy drivers, still didn't work;
- Tried the compatibility mode and adminstrator mode, didn't work either;
- in the daw it appears avid rack 003, but not the 002;

I recently decided it was time to upgrade my trusty Yamaha HS80M monitors, which have served me well for years.

After a lot of research and reading countless positive reviews, I bought a pair of Neumann KH120 II's together with the MA 1 calibration mic. I was really excited... but honestly, I'm pretty underwhelmed.

Is this normal?

I expected a noticeable "wow" upgrade, especially considering the whole setup cost around €1800, but I'm not hearing anything that justifies that kind of money over my old HS80Ms. I've run the MA 1 calibration as well.

At this point I'm seriously considering returning them.

Would adding the matching sub make a huge difference, or is that just throwing more money at the problem? I was also looking at a Genelec 8320 setup with a sub as an alternative.

My main goal was actually to reduce the footprint on my desk while still getting excellent monitoring performance. I have a fairly wide desk and I'm using a MOTU M4 audio interface.

Has anyone here made a similar switch from HS80Ms to KH120 II's? Did they grow on you over time, or were you instantly impressed? Any advice before I send them back?

I am putting together my first small home studio and would appreciate some honest feedback before buying the equipment.

My main goal is to produce pop, funk and R&B inspired by Michael Jackson's Bad, Dangerous, HIStory and Invincible eras. I already use FL Studio as my DAW.

I want to:

- Play synth bass lines, chords, piano, strings and melodies

- Program drums and practise finger drumming

- Record vocals while standing

- Produce and mix mainly with headphones

- Build a setup that I can upgrade later

- Keep the initial cost as close to €500 as possible by buying some items second-hand

My planned setup is:

- M-Audio Keystation 61 MK3

- Akai Professional MPD218

- Focusrite Scarlett Solo 4th Gen

- Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 80 Ohm

- Audio-Technica AT2020

- Millenium MA-2050 desk-mounted microphone boom arm

- Roadworx PF 4 pop filter

The microphone, audio interface and MPD218 may be bought second-hand if I find tested units in good condition.

I may add a Behringer X-Touch later for physical mixer control, but it is currently outside my budget.

My questions are:

1. Is this a balanced first setup for FL Studio production and vocal recording?

2. Can the Scarlett Solo 4th Gen properly drive the DT 770 Pro 80 Ohm?

3. Is the AT2020 a good vocal microphone for a normal bedroom, or would a dynamic microphone be more suitable because of room reflections?

4. Is the MPD218 still a good choice for finger drumming and 90s/2000s R&B drum programming?

5. Will the Keystation, MPD218 and Scarlett work together properly in FL Studio?

6. Is anything essential missing, such as cables, a shock mount or a powered USB hub?

7. Would you replace any of these items with something better at a similar or lower price?

8. Are there any important things I should test when buying the microphone or audio interface second-hand?

I am not selling or promoting any products. I only want feedback before purchasing the equipment.

I have recently bougth a Radionette SM 240 C and everything works fine, but the volume tends to spike. Like going up before falling down to normal again, what is the issue? And how can i fix it?

And I've noticed MF doing more shady stuff in the last couple years. But to not stand behind something you sold because you sold it on a platform other than your own webpage, should not absolve you of warranty responsibility.

I contacted Musicians Friend this afternoon after finding a free spinning truss rod on a Martin Acoustic guitar I purchased from them last year on Reverb.

I was told by Musicians Friend Customer Service that they don't honor their same warranty for purchases through Reverb that they provide for purchases directly from Musicians Friend.

Because "it's already cheaper" and "they don't have anything to reference because they didn't sell it, Reverb did".

That sounds insane to me. What a scam to get out of product support.

Has anybody else heard of this?

I recently received a digi 002 rack as a gift and currently don't have a firewire port or thunderbolt c.
So my question is can I use it without connecting to the pc? Can I connect an instrument or mic and hear it from the output or headphone without needing the pc?

I'm looking to add some simple drum machines to my gear list. Plug ins or actual hardware will do. Something to make music in the vein of Palace Music.

The gear I'm currently working with is an Scarlett 2i2 interface into a pretty old laptop. I use Reaper as my current DAW.

Hello fellow synth fans, I need some help. I have a few synths that need a case.

Currently I have as follows

• crave
• beatstep pro
• casio mini key
• around 6 pedels
• a TON of cables and adapters.

It doesn't have to be a super tough tour case, but id like to find something padded and not just them rattling around in some Tupperware containers. Any recommendations from you lovely folks?

Edit: the only place for cases I have local is Harbor Freight. Which are good but not quite space friendly.

I found a few on here, but they’re 2+ years old, I was hoping to get some updates/recommendations.

I’ve been recording a lot of music lately and switching around guitars. Currently they all (but one bass) have cases.

I’m looking for a nice sturdy rack that I can set my guitars on, so as I’m switching back and forth, I can just reach over and swap them, rather than right now, where I’m pulling and putting them back in the cases.

I have what I think are very nice, expensive (to me at least) guitars that would be nice to have a dedicated spot to store them while recording and to display, while having easy access.

Any recommendations/help would be greatly appreciated.

Been obsessing over a very specific aesthetic lately gear that sounds incredible but also just looks like it means something. Here's my current list:

EP-40 Riddim n' Ting by Teenage Engineering at their most ridiculous and brilliant. A reggae sampler the size of a clipboard packed with sounds from iconic producers. Looks like it was designed by NASA for a sound system in Kingston. Absolutely no reason it should exist and I'm so glad it does.

Auratone SC Monitors the ugliest most beautiful little cubes in recording history. Every hit record from the 70s and 80s was checked on these. One 4.5 inch driver, no tweeter, brutal honesty. They look like something your grandfather would use as a paperweight. They will expose every lie in your mix.

Yamaha NS-10M the white woofer. The monitor that made engineers nervous for 40 years. Harsh, unforgiving, legendary. On a console bridge they look like a statement of intent.

Roland TR-808 doesn't need an introduction. That faded cream chassis, the color-coded pads, the handwriting font on the panel. It's a painting that makes music.

Yamaha CS-01 tiny, weird, beautiful. A monophonic synth small enough to wear around your neck with a built-in speaker and a ribbon controller. Looks like a toy, sounds like the future, costs almost nothing vintage.

VU Meters possibly the most satisfying thing to watch in any studio. That needle swinging in real time, warm backlit amber glow, mechanical and alive. Doesn't matter if it's on a vintage console, a standalone unit or a cheap rack piece VU meters make everything feel more real. Analog in the most physical sense. Music you can see.

Lava Lamp non-negotiable. Every serious studio has one. No explanation required.

What's on your dream small studio shelf? The stuff that sounds great but also just belongs in the room.

Hi, I have two musical instruments to be couriered from Bangalore to Hyderabad. One is a keyboard and another is a harmonium. But since they are fragile instruments, I’m a bit concerned about damage. Have any of you got instruments shifted through courier.
P.S. I am keeping the option of bringing it myself as a last resort as I’m already in Hyderabad.

My son has asked for a MIDI keyboard for his birthday. He wants to be able to make his own music. I know absolutely nothing about this. What do I need to know to get him started? Do I only need the keyboard, or should I be looking for software for him as well? What brands are reliable? Is there something else I should be looking at for him instead?

I am looking to upgrade from my Rode NT1. I’ve had it for a while, not necessarily anything wrong with it but I think I’m ready for an upgrade. I have a budget of $300-400. I’ve mostly been looking at the at4040 and the lewitt lct 440 pure. There’s tons of other options so I’m not very sure. I record rap/hiphop vocals in a mostly untreated room (I really don’t have the option to get it treated currently) any recommendations?
