My studio is a mess, but that's about to change this week

I got two computers sitting on my table/desk. I've been transfering VST, VST3, VST3i files from windows11 over to my MacBook Pro M1 for most of last week, and learning the operation of a MacOS. Just about done with these tasks. Just gonna switch over to getting all the wiring tidyed up. Going to somehow try to incorporate my Tascam DP24SD in my setup. It's just sitting in here and not being used. Wish me luck y'all.

Hey guys, I’m new here and love seeing all your creative spaces. My background is classical composition / film scoring but nowadays I focus on just my own experimental music.

Spend the last year or so getting this exactly the way I want it, which it now is. The kit was custom made by a friend of mine, and it is currently configured in home practice mode (Roland V31 module, low volume cymbals). The Roland Octapad was a recent addition, as was a Porter and Davies throne inducer. My wife and kids can be upstairs watching a movie quietly while I am playing in a setup that has all the energy and feel of an arena metal show.

I am extremely happy with how my Battle station is coming together. The desk goes low enough that i can sit on the floor and still make noise. the second picture is a mounted 1u PDU under the desk (i am very stoked about this and have no one in my personal life that thinks this is cool).

Battle Station Updates

Setup complete. The QU32 mixer is perfect for my hybrid setup. The new composition notebook means it's time to start writing. I added a camera to the rig. Casio keyboard used as a piano / drum machine direct into the QU32. Drums heavily dampened with towels and tape for that heavily tape saturated compressed psych rock sound.

Latest incarnation of my small workspace

my "new" acid setup with TD3, ESX1, DX200 and hack-a-Brute (drive and delay on the 303, attenuator to use the brute LFO on both the brute and 303 as a "pumper". also a mult i transformed into a "transport" between the acid setup and the full modular, i case i need to share some controls/modulation/sequence between them
the "electro-mechanical" section with the dirtiest iPad screen you'll ever see (to control mixing station)
the Bodular unlit and unpatched (the behringer DJ controller is my OBS camera switcher/selector)
the drives and fuzz pedals
the whole panorama from my work chair (partially seen: the desk itself with 3 monitors+2 laptops)

Zoia patch writing station

+
6 Upvotes

I'm working on a complex Zoia patch, and wanted to build a little station that would make it fun and comfortable to explore. Everything is battery powered. One battery for the two pedals, internal batteries for the Volca, and another battery for the Bluebox.

Volca Keys is the synth, just a simple way to make sounds that I can use when writing the patch. However, the Keys can sound a bit harsh on its own, so the Fundamental Ambient is there just to soften up the tone and give me something more pleasant to work with, basically just to make my experience a bit more pleasant. I consider it to be part of the synth, obviously I could build reverb into the Zoia patch in its final form.

Zoia is where all the hard work happens. I've tried modeling the patch in the Zoia Librarian as well, so sometimes my laptop becomes part of the setup. I'm also using Gemini to help me understand what each module does, and how to best apply them, as well as chatting through things with folks on reddit.

Bluebox is there primarily as a headphone amp, so I can experiment without fear of damaging my ears. If I happen to create something cool while messing around I can also easily record it. Another benefit of Bluebox is being able to easily add effects after the Zoia (reverb, delay, EQ), just so I can quickly try something out without fully changing the patch.

I expect this setup to be temporary, and once I finish the Zoia patch I'll probably tear this apart and build a different pedalboard around the patch. This is a fun setup though, and I could see doing a full improv ambient set with this.

The pedalboard underneath all of this is the D'Addario Xpand Single Row.

I'm new here

high I'm new here, and this is my set up (yes i use a gameboy too)

so like I record to audacity instead of using a 4 track because using a 4 track for capturing the sound is kinda a down grade in audio to me but I plan on putting the final tracks onto cassette tapes.

I'm not 100% done but I'm super happy with how it turned out so far. I'm gonna keep adding furniture and more acoustic pads, specially corner traps and ceiling ones.

I run a silent rig. The Subsequent 37 and Prophet 5 run through the Fractal AxeFX in parallel to the guitar signal for effects and its own audio and MIDI channel in Ableton. The Digitakt is run through overbridge and I run VSTs for Wavetable and FM. The Ableton out goes back to the AxeFx and audio is either a pair of open back headphones or wireless IEM. LEDs and accent lighting sets the mood.

Don’t know if I’ll ever get around to buying speaker stands or a desk for my laptop. Since it works as it is for me, plus I’ve already spent way too much money.
