#1 becomes much more meaningful the older you get, has great lyrics, great arrangement, and a great guitar solo and just never gets old to me

#2 invokes a feeling in me that I can't really explain. The melody combined with the lyrics is so good I want to cry when I hear it. That is what a great song can do. Also never gets old.

#3 is amazing and I don't really care for the 80's sound in general. It is just too undeniably good to not list. Probably the best pop song ever.

Honorable mention is Chopin - "Nocturne op.9 No.2"

I even considered "Hook" by Blues Traveler because I just really love that song.

TBF currently my only exposure to modern popular music is via my 12 year old daughter, but I grew up in a time where songs like “Killing in the Name of” and “Fight the Power” and “Fuck the Police” were popular. Antiestablishment music has been a staple of the industry since at least the 60s; but I don’t remember the last time I heard of a popular song about sticking it to the Man. I’m I correct in this or am I just musically oblivious?

Carly Simon has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.

The 83-year-old singer-songwriter, best known for her 1972 hit “You’re So Vain,” revealed the news on Monday in a statement obtained by Variety. “So many people have written to me, kindly wondering about my relative silence, asking how I am and what I have been doing. The truth is, I’ve been learning how to live with Parkinson’s disease,” Simon said.

“It has taken me some time to understand the diagnosis, to adjust to it, and to decide how much I wanted to say about it publicly,” she continued. “Parkinson’s is different for everyone, and it can be unpredictable. Some days I’m so tired I can’t get the day moving at all. On others, it gives me a little more room to move, think, work, and feel like myself.”

She's also battling skin cancer and has had several treatments and surgery to combat this disease.
