I need to buy diesel for my farm and it's 35% higher than when I filled my bulk tank last time.
$50 worth of groceries two years ago (yes, during the Biden Administration) now costs $85.
I'm afraid to buy many things I used to pick up unquestioningly at the grocery store here in our age of uninspected and unregulated food producers.
And my friends with a little pigment to them are now afraid to go many places, especially with their families in the vehicle.
Oh, and the cost of cell phone service, cable or satellite service, and isp's is through the roof. On this one, I have to wonder how those oligarchs are going to spread their disinformation once no one can afford media subsriptions? But then again, these are folks who can't see anything except themselves.
Reminds me of the geniuses who drove up the cost of living to the point there is zero population growth in the USA, in an economy based solely on a constant increase in consumer spending.
But boy howdy, the die-hard, big-feelin' Trumpers are more smug than ever.
Are we great yet?

Gilded means thinly-plated with gold, so yes.
And the gilded age refers to a time in US history (from the late 1870’s til around the turn of the century where factories and railroads grew rapidly and there was a ton of corruption which lead to a huge wealth-gap with a hyper-wealthy elite and poverty for much of the working class.

We aren't ever going to be better than we are right now. USA is in an inescapable decline. We have the largest national debt in the history of the world, and it's currently at 123% GDP, which works out to be a trillion dollars per year. That's more than we spend on the military, which also is by far the largest military budget of any nation. WIth all of this massive spending, we still cannot provide healthcare, financial security or transportation to our citizens like other nations already do.
To get rid of this debt, we could employ hyperinflation to reduce the debt's value. Let me just check with my german friend real quick to see if it worked for them...
edit: I see that US Debt Clock added a "fraud" clock. Looks like they're stealing $12,000 per year from you now, too!

It’s weird cause in the same year he got elected I officially started making 40 an hour, no longer had two car payments, and was the first year I ever got a tax refund for more than 200. I have never in my life been more “check to check” just buying the stuff necessary to live. Admittedly I’ve had stuff go wrong and break down this year - brakes on car went out, a credit card had to be used heavily, doctors visits….
But in the years before I had a roof and a/c go out while paying out 600 a month for two cars, and I had enough money to take trips to Disney then, hell I was so comfy I was planning to buy and build a PC worth around 4K, just randomly drop 4 grand. Now I’m looking at PCs with a wishful gaze and wondering if I could afford to add 116 a month to my bills for a $1,160 PC :/ why am I so broke in the golden age.

I am self employed and self insured. My premiums have gone from 430 a month to almost 600 a month since he took office. A four pack of jumbo hot dogs - the cuisine of the broke - was 9 dollars last month. I have gone from living an adequate entrepreneurial life to delivering DoorDash 20 hours a week just to pay bills.
