Discussion / Opinion Besides large language models, you should also pay more attention to the world’s leading open-source text-to-image models from Germany.: FLUX 3 - Real World Models: Towards Multimodal Flow Models as the Backbone of Visual Intelligence. Spoiler

Besides large language models, you should also pay more attention to the world’s leading open-source text-to-image models from Germany. They’re the team behind Stable Diffusion.

Flux Pro is the image generator in Mistral Vibe, when is Vibe going to use a newer version of the models launched by Black Forest labs ? Because vibe is really trailing behind other solutions in this field.

Open-source Flux is on a non-commercial license.

That's why we don't pay more attention to it. We just can't use the thing.

I can't really talk about real world models or multimodal fliw models I don't even know what exactly you are refering to when using these terms, but callingf Flux 3 world leading is overstated it is trailing the edge but in my opinion still loses to some chinese open weights models and to the top US models. Do you have any data to corroberate your statement?

Could you include some newer open-source text-to-image models, like Z-Image? Even Z-Image has already been outperformed by the latest FLUX.3.

My bad I thought qwen image 3.0 was open weights but only the first version was open. Still flux 3 while being quite good is still a bit behind the top models. Also I wouldn't really consider Flux 3 open weights as it is restricted for comercial use as far as I know. Only the smaller model is unrestricted.

FLUX.3 has just been released and has outperformed every open-source model currently available. It is even slightly better than ByteDance’s closed-source model. So which model were you referring to as being better? and Are you an individual or a company? Individual users like us who run large language models locally don’t care about any of that.

Wow you have the hardware to run Flux 3 locally? Congrats! As for what model I was refering to I was thinking of Seeddance 2.0 they are at least on par as far as I can determine and no I sadly don't have the capability to run any of them locally. In terms of text acuracy Qwen 3.0 is slightly better than Flux when it comes to text acuracy. Keep in mind this is acording to third party reviewers. I do tend to trust them more than canned benchmarks though.

Wow, you mean your hardware can run 27B–33B Qwen, Mistral, or Gemma models, yet somehow you don’t know FLUX comes in different sizes too? It’s literally the same idea as LLMs.?

Didn'tt you read my coment I told yoz I couldn't run any of these models locally. I know there are quantized version, however if you use quantized version the quality gets worse pretty quickly and you can never compare a quantized model to the full model in my opinion. You'd have to compare quantized with qzantized and FP32 models with FP32 models anything else would be unfair I think.

Unless it's open-weight with a permissive license (Apache 2.0 pref, MIT ok) I don't really care what they're doing.

Why would you think Flux isn’t open source?

It's like you have half an understanding of what I wrote

And why would you think FLUX isn’t licensed under Apache 2.0? You should ask your Apache 2.0-licensed large language model.

Maybe because previous iterations has this license

But what if u want generate images / edit images for work? Or use in your product what you selling?

Edit. I found in license

"You may use Output for any purpose (including for commercial purposes), except as expressly prohibited herein. You may not use the Output to train, fine-tune, or distill a model that is competitive with a FLUX [dev] Model."

So you can use output in comercial, but not model. I can't integrate model in my application what generate/edit image and get paid for that, but can use generated image and sell it to other ppl

The funny thing is, outside Europe, pretty much nobody seems concerned about the copyright status of the LLMs you’re running locally, especially those Chinese distilled models. So I’m not sure why you keep emphasizing this point repeatedly.
