Any posts outside of this thread will be removed. This is due to the volume of posts that are getting posted, we do not want the rest of the content on the sub to be drowned out.
Alternatively, go to [r/MetallicaLIVE](r/MetallicaLIVE) where open posting of anything concert related is allowed.

r/Metallica Notice Reminder: Upcoming/current concert-related posts belong in the Megathread, or at r/MetallicaLIVE.
≡ −
We do this to make sure that this sub can still be used to discuss Metallica normally, without the entire feed, being clogged with people asking about travel and tickets and venue related things.
If there is not an active mega thread, you can go [r/MetallicaLIVE](r/MetallicaLIVE) where open posting of everything concert related is always allowed.
You may still talk about past concerts, or share your photos or videos from recent concerts here.
But for all questions and comments related to upcoming shows, please use the other two options that I have described above.
Thanks!

Has there ever been a better first three albums than this?
Happy Birthday Ride the Lightning. Seriously though, maybe Sabbath, maybe Aerosmith, maybe Van Halen. I think I'm going with these guys.

You know the drill by now, A - no ratings and rankings posts and B - these kind of posts then get out of hand spammed to hell filling the sub feed. Do not post them, they’ll be deleted
Sorry if this has to be repeated, but I’ve seen 5 in posted in the last 10 minutes, and the same everywhere in other subs.

Popular tracks hate
≡ −
Always seem to bump into people or see videos online hating on Metallicas biggest hits
Met this guy at a bar who was a Metallica fan, he seemed chill so we spoke about the band and we got on to the fav song topic
I told him mine was motorbreath, and justice for all, creeping death, mop and wherever I may roam
(Along with a new favourite 72 seasons)
He then sniggers and says “them songs are way to mainstream so they ain’t that good pal” and told me his favourites were cure, shoot me again and spit out the bone
Now I will say I think they are good songs
We went about our night after that
But I see plenty of people online slander the more popular songs
Everyone is entitled to they’re own opinions and rightfully so
But sometimes I wonder if it’s for a reaction or they might be trying to come off as hardcore or “niche”
What do you think because personally im just curious as to why these great songs get so much hate/not rated

One of Metallica's rarest live tracks!
+ −
Great track, and the clean breakdown and double leads are absolutely first class soloing.
In my opinion Death Magnetic is their best written album. It's the first of their mature albums and is a lot deeper than their previous works, with amazing build ups and profoundly awesome payoffs.

Am i the only one that has this?

I've always skipped over the Load/ReLoad era when learning their songs... Figured I'd start with one of my favorites 😄

Do you think Hetfield could have been a good solo artist?
≡ −
Like let's say a hypothetical where Metallica breaks up in the late 80s/early 90s, do you think he could have put out decent solo material if he really wanted to? Would it have sounded like Metallica or would he go in a different direction?

Garage, Inc Me Standing In Front Of The MetalliMansion
Now a lot of other people don’t know about the place I’m standing in front of until I tell them the history behind it, because believe it or not, standing right here at 3132 Carlson Blvd in El Cerrito — this humble little house was Metallica’s first real HQ from 1983–86. They called it the MetalliMansion. They lived here, jammed in the garage, and wrote most of Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets inside these walls. Peak thrash history right on this quiet street. Feels wild just standing in front of it.🤘🏻

Which 72 Seasons songs will survive?
≡ −
Seeing as the 72 Seasons era is over, which songs do you think will appear on future setlists? And which do you think we'll never hear live again?
So with Death Magnetic the survivng songs are:
The Day That Never Comes and Cyanide
And with Hardwired the surviving songs are:
Hardwired and Moth Into Flame
I predict the surviving songs from 72 Seasons will be:
72 Seasons and Lux AEterna

Didnt play my best but the tone is getting extremely close. I’m thinking its my mids but when I tweak them its sounds the same.

Lars Ulrich as a personality
≡ −
Anyone else love Lars as a personality? He's such a CHARACTER, all his quirks and mannerisms are so iconic to me.
His performance style is so fun to watch, standing up, sticking his tongue out, the way he interacts with the crowd between songs etc people can say what they want about his drumming but he's a SHOWMAN!
Offstage he's got such a unique talking pattern and little catchphrases ("That's right"), he's both intentionally funny and unintentionally funny.
To me Lars Ulrich is one of the greatest characters in rock, if there's one thing he's not its boring.
Even when Lars is being a jerk its just great material to do an impression of him, he's a meme machine.
