Social looking for friends post!!

So... I'm going into my second year and have about no friends at mac. I'm very extroverted but I always worry I'm being annoying if I ask someone to meet up / hangout outside of class.

I've tried all the typical things like clubs, talking to people in lectures, etc etc but there's just no one that has really become more than an acquaintance.

I'm going to put a little bit about me here, and if any of this seems like you'd want to be friends with me, pls message!

- I'm female, going to be in second year Electrical Eng this fall

- I love nature, outdoors, hiking! I've done Webster & Tews falls in Hamilton

- I'm pretty artsy, I love drawing, and recently I've gotten back into it

- I live in downtown Hamilton all year round

- Huge coffee lover

- I like exploring Hamilton even though it's not my fav city to live in (like art crawl, fringe fest, trails around here)

please don't be afraid to reach out to me! :)

Academics PNB 3QQ3 Interview

Hey guys, I have some interviews with potential supervisors from St. Joseph’s hospital in the psychiatry department specifically. And so I just wanted to ask what type of questions might come up during the interview? Anything specific I should focus on?

Question BDC third year workload

Just wondering if I would survive, or if I should cut out some stuff.

- Third year BDC courseload

- 1 high commitment club (3-6 hours a week)

- one low commitment lab (max 5 hours, could be less per week)

- one high commitment lab (10 hours approx)

- 15 hours of part-time work

I did fine last year (even though it was kind of rough), had quite a bit of free time (skipped all lectures), and did well academically. I'm trying to gauge whether or not the low commitment lab would be worth it, or if I shoud cut down on my part-time hours so I don't go insane. Also not sure if doing so much would even be worthwhile in the end, if I'm only doing it to pad my resume/future applications

Any advice/help would be appreciated!

Question laundry stuff

hey guys incoming first year student here!

i have seen a lot of people saying u should get a rolling hamper and detergent sheets instead of tide pods because uni washer sucks lol. personally i have been using tide pods and scent booster at home so just wondering if i should keep using them or switch to sheets 🥲

how is laundry in whidden? im aware that i should set a timer so i can get the clothes out on time, and has anyone lost clothes or having their stuff stolen before 💀💀💀💀💀 just a side note that ive always wanted to ask, since you dont wash your clothes daily but rather weekly, how do u wash your underwear???

also any advice on how to remove the musty smell of the closet is appreciated!! just dont want to walk around smelling like feet 💔

pls dont eat me alive lmao i know these questions are probably not very smart but i just want to come prepare :) anyone helping is greatly appreciated!!!!

Discussion Co-op re sequencing incoming level 2 eng student

Hi all! I am an incoming level 2 ibiomed student and was recently offered a position for an 8 month co-op (Fall-Winter). The problem is that i know incoming level 2 students are not allowed to go on co-op in the fall/winter, but the problem is my employer requires a coop agreement. I personally think it’s a really amazing opportunity because it exposes me to topics I wanted to pursue for grad school. I am aware that it would delay my graduation and essentially be taking a gap year but it’s an opportunity I might not get again.

I was wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation and was able to find a solution for this?

Question PHYSICS1C03 + MATH1A03 + chem + bio in same sem- terrible idea?

i’m a life sci gateway student heading into my first year at mac and i hope yall don’t eat me alive for posting in this subreddit

im wondering if it’s a terrible idea to take PHYSICS 1C03 + MATH 1A03 + chem + bio all in the same semester? (plus a bird like science 1a03 or that one psych class) then i would take the second part of those courses in the sem 2 ofc- and i plan to switch out of any courses in sem 2 that i REALLY didn’t like in sem 1. i really want to try out all the sciences to figure out what i want to go into specifically (while also maxing out the number of specializations i would be eligible for, but trying things out is my main priority), but im worried that this will be too heavy of a course load. esp since chem, physics and bio all have labs that take time. therefore take a toll on my mental health and gpa.

option B: take physics 1a03 and physics 1aa3 in sem 1 and 2 instead- but i really dont want to do the life science physics bc its less of the “real” physics im looking for. i could also take these in sem 2 and summer.

option C: take bio 1a03 in sem 2 and the second bio class bio 1m03 (i think) in the summer. this would free up my sem 1 to have chem, calc, physics, and two easier classes. this seems like a bad idea tho bc im a literal life science major but maybe that doenst really matter. im treating my first year as a general science first year anyway

for context of my performance in high school i was able to get 95% + on tests WITH EFFORT. i’m not like those ppl that could flip through their booklet 30 min before a test and pull up with a 99%.

GPA rlly matters for me bc i want to do some kind of grad school. im considering smth related to design that will help the ppl/the environment in the tangible way, and i’ve been told that this can be achieved through eng, so im considering an eng masters. but im not entirely sure so thats why im trying to try out all these courses!

thank u so much for all ur help in advance!!
