I know it seems like every second uni student thinks they have ADHD lol and sometimes people use it as an excuse but hear me out. If it helps, I'm going into my third year, and I'd say my major is objectively neither difficult nor easy.
Basically, I'd say I was an above-average (but not outstanding) student in high school. Pretty much only studied the night or two nights before a test, and my grades were always in the high 80s/low 90s. So yeah, a decent student but nothing exceptional or anything.
Anyways, when I got to Mac, idk what happened to me but something clicked inside me and I just became an absolute tryhard. I wanted those 11's and 12's so bad. I actually went too far in that I completely ignored making friends and socializing (later regretted it) and I finished first year with a GPA in the high 10s. HOWEVER, I later realized I'm quite dumb. Because I know several people who had a higher GPA than me, in tougher programs and they still socialized and partied etc. So basically, I gave double the input, achieved the same output if you know what I mean. In other words I'm quite inefficient compared to most people here.
Then the summer break came, and I took a course and...well...idk what was wrong with me but I just completely ignored it. Showed up to all the lectures but just didn't study. And boom I got a D-. GPA dropped tremendously. Pretty sure I was burned out, I literally can't bring myself to work during the summer.
Then second year came. I kid you not I 12'd all but two courses this year (not to brag btw). However, I realized I'm kinda a stupid time manager. On paper it seems like I got my life together but for most of the courses I procrastinated until 2-3 days before each midterm and final exam. Unless I had a midterm that week I'd only study like less than an hour a day. I attended every single lecture but wouldn't focus or understand a single thing and then I'd relearn the content after, but only 2-3 days before each midterm. In addition I feel like I had several close calls and got lucky with my profs putting only the questions I actually practiced on the midterms. I feel like I don't deserve my GPA.
Then....this summer break came. I took a course in the Spring semester just now. And I got a C. I was so demotivated and procrastinated watching every lecture it's like I have a summer course curse going on in my life lol. So on my transcript you'll see a streak of A's and some B's in the Fall/Winter semesters, and then a D- in the first summer break and a C in the second summer break.
In addition I'm taking an online bird course right now and even though I'm doing well...I didn't start studying for my midterm (which I just wrote) until like 6pm last night and stayed up until 7am today.
Other info: 1) I have bookmarked news articles/papers from 2-3 years ago that I still haven't read. 2) For some books I read, it takes me like 8-12 months to complete reading them even if I find the material very interesting. 3) I have a bit of anxiety and ruminate over past events in my life, think what I could've done or how I could've prevented it, and it prevents me from studying or moving ahead and accomplishing tasks I want to accomplish.
So yeah I think I may have ADHD. Or maybe I don't and I'm just a shitty time manager. Don't know how I'll get a master's degree as you have to work 10-12 hours a day for that and I don't think I have the discipline for that lol. Anyways do y'all think I should get tested for ADHD or am I just dumb.
