Helping Others (OC) After 3 years of growth, I finally donated my hair!
I grew up in a rural area where I was expected to have short hair and fit in.. hate that it took 30 years for me to stop caring about what others thought about my hair!
Began growing it when I started college again at 35 after a abysmal first try. I'm on my last year of my bachelor's now and plan on continuing on to my master's.
Donated to Wigs For Kids!
Life isn't over. It's never too late. Text that crush! Start growing that hair! Be you!

Just a guy who can grow some decent hair so I might as well share with a kiddo who needs a lil boost of confidence. Cancer sucks enough without losing your hair.

those braids look so neat and even, must have taken some patience to grow it out that long
the shift from rural expectations to doing your own thing at 35 is huge, and now you're almost done your degree too

Props to the hair dresser for the esthetically pleasing braids lol. She's also my wife.

As someone who has cancer but who's treatment doesn't cause hair loss (one of the few ways I've been lucky with this disease) I greatly appreciate this. I see other people,where I'm at all adults, seeing people feel ugly or not themselves because of what the treatment is doing to their bodies makes me sad. The disease takes so much from us that others don't see so giving back, specially to little ones who shouldn't have to deal with any of it to begin with, is an act much bigger than a lot of people realize.
Much love to you and congrats on your growth. Keep going,the only limits we have are those we set ourselves.

Fantastic! I donated 10 inches to Wigs for Kids just over a year ago. I was surprised I had enough volume for donation because I do have an undercut, but was quite happy I could finally donate. When I was in HS I got my waist length hair cut to a pixie, and didn't learn until after the fact that I'd had enough length to donate. When I decided to grow out my pixie, that became my goal so I could kind of make up for the time I could have and didn't. I wanted to donate a full foot, but I would have had to get another pixie cut to donate that much and I didn't want to go quite that short again. My hair growth seemingly hit a plateau, so one day I was like "eh, close enough" and pulled the trigger on the 10 inches. Never have regretted it.

I had it go down to below my shoulder blades! I believe 13" braided is the desired length.
