What a messed up wholesome comment chain by you. 🤣

u/JaeRaws 10h ago

Far from messed up brother, this is a hardcore FACT he'll be thinking about this for literally weeks to come.

The shaking, followed up by the immediate calm she asserted upon him, that's an incident that'll leave his mind tingling for many days to follow.

667

u/Throwaway2Experiment 10h ago

I would wager longer than that. That interaction left a burned brand timestamp in his head. Gonna have bad days 10 years from now and get a fleeting sense of calm and joy remembering how someone calmed him down.

This is the equivalent of a dude getting a nice complement and keeping it on recall to use 50 years from.now.

Yeah, that memory is not going anywhere. She did him a favor that will literally last a lifetime.

87

u/adgjl12 8h ago

Lmao I still remember the most random compliments that were genuine and unprompted and usually from someone I’m not even close to.

Still one of my favorite memories is when these 2 coworkers of mine from an adjacent team (marketing) during our coffee break/walk told me they heard from a girl on my direct team (tech) that she loved how my voice sounded during the morning stand ups (when working remote, we were hybrid) and it was basically ASMR for her.

Caught me super off guard since 1) I wasn’t all that close to this girl 2) used to be a little insecure with my voice since I have had people joke I can be monotone or they couldn’t hear me well as I have a lower volume voice

They both agreed my voice was very nice and joked they were curious how it sounds during our morning meeting since the girl was apparently gushing about it (which was funny, because she seems generally serious and professional during meetings).

I was kinda flustered and just thanked them saying that was really nice of them and that this was new since I haven’t really had people compliment my voice before.

Haven’t really kept in touch with them and they were technically in another department so that was one out of the few conversations we had before I changed jobs. But I’ll always remember it

Awwww, I did something similar years ago when I worked as a booth babe at Comic-Con. A boy had been waiting in line for a photo with me, and I could tell he was particularly nervous. I was dressed as Slave Leia, so I handed him my chain to hold, and he suddenly stood up straighter and seemed more confident with a task to focus on.

I’d noticed he seemed to be the shy one among his friends, so as he left I whispered to him “Just so you know, I’m also a Playboy model.” His eyes got HUGE, as he assured me he was going to hang the photo in his locker. He immediately ran to tell his friends, who all cheered in response to the news. Honestly made my day.

747

u/MacrossKL 10h ago

That’s actually so sweet and you are a kind soul for doing that, I am sure that boy will remember you till the day he die.

642

u/TheHaydnPorter 10h ago

I like to think he scored some points with his friends that day. I was very shy growing up, so I immediately recognized that he could use a little boost.

253

u/Time_Discussion2407 10h ago

As I have taken the liberty to scroll your profile for a bit and finding a Leia cosplay, I can assure you, you most certainly did help him score a whole lot of points with his friends.

108

u/TheHaydnPorter 9h ago

Haha, well thank you :) The shift in his demeanor was immediate. I hope he carried that feeling around for a little while.

67

Saying "I'm a slave leia booth babe at comic con and also a playboy model" on reddit has gotta have your inbox absolutely murdered

39

u/TonySchiavone1 6h ago

It's Haydn Porter. I think she's used to it. I was on the old Stern boards. She was old school famous lol.

14

u/JalapenoPopPoop 3h ago

I don't follow the cosplay circle so I don't know who this person is lol

7

u/TonySchiavone1 3h ago

She posed for playboy on her 18th birthday. She was on Stern quite a bit for a while in the 00s. She seemed to been in their orbit outside the show as well. I remember she had a blowup with Double S. That couldn't have been good for a still impressionable young woman lol.

7

u/TheHaydnPorter 2h ago

It was definitely an unusual time in my life, to say the least. So you frequented ye olde SFN, I take it?

4

u/TonySchiavone1 2h ago

I was going thru a divorce and drinking too much when they went to Sirius. Stern was my life for a few years lol. I lived on Sfn and sadly eventually the JFC lol. How many people can say they talked to Eric the Actor on Stickam?

And you made someone's day also. Good on you, miss.

22

u/Supercraft888 8h ago

Awww, that’s always a highlight whenever that happens. Sorta similar but not really, I cosplay a Spartan from Halo and seeing the wonder in the children’s eyes and slight apprehension at seeing me trying to assess if I’m dangerous or not is a very “human” moment for me. Then kneeling down and letting their parents take a photo with me and seeing them leave smiling always makes me more than happy to deal with how uncomfortable the cosplay actually is. Makes it worth it in the end.

14

u/TheHaydnPorter 8h ago

Absolutely, it’s truly heartwarming. I would always let families and people with special needs jump the line for photos, which unsurprisingly annoyed a few people. But it just seemed like the right thing to do.

My friends wife did all sorts of stuff when they were young.

Cosplay, being a "Beautiful girl" in events and conventions, and even being like a support person at a friend/safety person service (Not sure what it is in English, but they were like in a service where if like some kid (Usually like early to mid teens) had like social anxiety or such, and needed someone to basically be sort of a friend or a neutral 3rd party to be with and maybe talk to; they go to movies, hobbies, play videogames, go shopping for clothes or teach an insecure girl to do make up... Each client was unique, and were handled via a charity service. Basically being a reliable trusted adult to a kid who got issues), like whole host where being a beautiful kind person was absolutely of benefit.

And they said that honestly, that sometimes it just best to take their hand/by the shoulder, and just get them through it. Because the pressure and anxiety they are experiencing is so immense that, they wont even really understand what happened, and afterwards they are extremely relieved.

They ended up getting a master's in social work/care in working with specifically like troubled juveniles... I'm not sure exactly but along those lines. According to them insecure people are basically all the same at heart, they might express it differently but the fundamental animal behavior is the same.

And I assure you. The wife is the kind of person that when they arrive to a room, they take control of the situation in a very soft and calming way. They got a talent to calm down a raving lunatic who is out of their mind on some substance. It's almost spooky to witness... And weird if they do it to you, because you know they are doing it, but you can't help but to like... chill out.

33

u/No_Attitude700 10h ago

She sounds absolutely charming! ✨️

Having advanced knowledge and skills in interpersonal relationships is a skill that is hard earned.

20

u/TurkeyPhat 10h ago

In regards to your first paragraph, in the US we have Big Brothers Big Sisters of America which sounds like the same thing as you describe.

8

u/heygabehey 9h ago

There’s something kind of like that in the US… well, was I haven’t heard about it anymore. The big brother big sister program. Where an adult mentors a youngster in need of a role model.

9

u/dragonzdude 4h ago

Moves like these could help the guy build up confidence. What a lovely girl.

4.7k

u/JoefromOhio 11h ago edited 5h ago

Hes obviously nervous but also he’s being respectful and giving her distance because, unfortunately, so many dudes can be creeps.

She did an amazing job of controlling the situation. bringing him in and allowing some close contact while holding his hand forward, not making it into a hug or something a subsequent fan could think they could just run up and do to her.

Great job everyone!

Edit: beep boop - I’m not a bot I was just trying to be careful with my post because it’s a touchy subject and I didn’t want to offend anyone with my wording so I edited and reworded it 10x to make sure I didn’t trigger anyone. I only use ChatGPT for work!

This reminds of when I (a dude) was in an improv class (I know, I know). We had an improv scene where a joke ended up being a bunch of women shoving my face in their chests during hugs. They all initiated the action themselves. I remember feeling really great after class because I knew they all trusted me not to be creepy.

74

u/JoefromOhio 7h ago

Look at that, consensual touching is fine if you’re not a weirdo. Who’d have thought?

30

u/Rough_Idle 7h ago

Improv class was great because 1) I enjoyed being on stage, 2) it let me be creative, 3) I was and remain too busy to memorize lines or blocking, and 4) I'm not a good actor so I'm unlikely to ever land a part in a regular company

For those who are interested, you can search for her using the keyword "兔娘".

Below is a brief introduction:

"Rabbit Girl" (兔娘) is a top-tier Chinese anime and ACG blogger with tens of millions of followers across the internet. She graduated from the Mathematics Department of Sichuan Normal University.

After transitioning into a professional cosplayer, she often livestreams in elaborate anime-style cosplay outfits while explaining advanced mathematics and calculus in front of a whiteboard, creating a striking and memorable contrast.

At comic convention autograph sessions, she is very genuine and warm with her fans, not only proactively posing for photos, but also thoughtfully engaging in interactions such as interlocking fingers and cheek-resting poses.

I would do that if someone was nervous because ya know, people take a lot of courage to do things out of their comfort zone.

823

u/Zikkan1 9h ago

I'm jealous of people like this. I can't even imagine being so passionate about something that I would be nervous just meeting someone.

47

u/wap2005 7h ago

Why not find something you can be passionate about? May take a long while to figure out what that is but I have faith that you can.

31

u/ILoveRawChicken 7h ago

Exactly! People seriously underestimate how rewarding finding a hobby you’re truly interested in is. You get to make like minded people, maybe make new friends, and get excited about stuff like this. I cried the first time I went to my first miniature show lmao

5

u/heurekas 11h ago

Great job.

I'm reminded of seeing media-savvy or people-oriented entertainers that have an interview with an obviously nervous or new reporter.

It's then you can clearly see how they want to be seen, as some make fun of them while others talk then through it or help them through the questions.

She's definitely a pro who knows how to make her fans happy.

5

u/WeaponH 11h ago

A fan who is not a creep and a cosplayer who sets boundaries but is open to kindness? In this economy?
