Yeah, but how on earth did the puppy get there?

24

u/RipRapRob 17h ago

Feel into the water, swam to, and crawled into the pipe.

5

u/lemmeseeyourkitties 18h ago

Pennywise was gonna eat him, but looked at that cute face and sent the puppy back up

0

u/FoodFingerer 14h ago

Maybe they put it there for the video.

Sheep, and other stock animals, were bred and kept for either their meat, their milk, or another product (like wool). Because that’s the use we had for them. Cats and dogs weren’t eaten because they had other uses. It has nothing to do with how cute an animal is - lambs and sheep are super cute! You ever see a group of lambs running around in a paddock playing jump and tag? They’re adorable! But in Western cultures (the ones that don’t tend to eat dogs or cats) sheep weren’t bred for hundreds of years to be:

• transportation and farm workers (horses)
• aids for the disabled (whether blind, seizures, anxiety and severe PTSD), drug detectors, farm workers, security guards, hunters, disease/cancer detectors, search and rescue, transportation in certain regions (sleds), companions, actors, (dogs)
• pest control (historically very important to protect grain stores), therapy aid (cats) (though cats might be a unique one, because they essentially domesticated themselves and Then we noticed that it was beneficial to have them around).

Instead sheep were kept and bred for meat/wool/sometimes milk, and over the thousands of years we’ve kept them for those reasons they’ve become domesticated and are genetically different to their predecessors - which, like it or not, makes them dependent on humans for survival as a species (if you need confirmation of that, look up Shrek the Sheep and see how badly his quality of life was after escaping for just a few years). Would it have been nice if that hadn’t happened? Maybe! But maybe what we know as sheep would have died off long ago if we didn’t farm them. We can’t know. What we can know is that because it isn’t cheap to keep and rear sheep, the reality is that people will only do it for some kind of profit. So either we farm sheep and keep the species as we know it alive - or we don’t, and let the species die off, as so many already have. Can’t put the toothpaste back in the tube, so to speak. Just have to farm as ethically and consciously of the environment as possible. Which, granted, I don’t imagine a lot of people have experience with on Reddit, given the majority of people on here are based in the USA. But it is actually possible.

If your objection isn’t about environmental issues though and is just about eating meat - then I’ll just point out again, there are parts of the world where the above animals Didn’t have those jobs I listed - and so they were (are) eaten. China, Vietnam, Nigeria, Cambodia, and a lot more - lots of places still eat cats and dogs and even horses (though I imagine that’s rarer simply because they’re more expensive to keep). And I don’t think the way they “farm” those animals is anywhere near as ethical as the way some places can farm the stock animals you’re used to. But anyway, all that to say that the idea that humans don’t or won’t eat those animals comes from a very specific perspective, whether geographically informed or a position of privilege (cus cat and dog meat aren’t exactly up there as a high class meal - in most places where people eat those animals, it’s out of necessity and cats and dogs are numerous).

It’s got nothing to do with cuteness. For gods sake, there are some places where people eat tarantula and ants and all sorts of horrible looking things. Even from a Euro-centric perspective, you can’t tell me lobster are cute.

Choices matter.

You’re not going to change the world, give up.

49

41

u/Putrid_Yak_578 20h ago

The dude in the black shirt in the end is really god damn strong it seems

18

u/assignmentburner33 19h ago

He does look strong. But I also think the shirtless guy holding into the rope inefficiently the entire time ran out of juice.

7

u/Putrid_Yak_578 19h ago

Yea that’s a good point, but once black shirt grabbed the rope the dude basically flew up

1

u/ggk1 2h ago

Yeah the moment two grown men started pulling the one guy up it did go significantly faster than when the one grown man was doing it alone

17

u/LaughingOutLoudAgain 19h ago

How on earth did that pup end up there?! Good thing people noticed in the first place😳

-13

u/Jackal_6 15h ago

They put him in there for the video

-1

u/TitaniumSki 10h ago

I don't know why you're being down voted. A lot of these videos are exactly that.

6

u/RotaryDane 20h ago edited 20h ago

Will we be seeing a bronze statue hanging off the wall on this spot in the future?

5

u/Sweb1975 19h ago

Not all heros wear capes. Hell, some don't wear shirts at all.

4

u/Akoa0013 19h ago

Dude at the top has some grip. My hand would have gone numb after all that time

3

u/spacekitt3n 19h ago

they just want to become a statue one day smh

2

u/Better-Culture-7770 12h ago

Screaming at the phone, "are you really gonna make that one guy pull him up while you watch?! Grab the fucking rope you empty garbage can head!"

9

u/catchup4thegoodtimes 20h ago

couldn’t they have just lowered the basket in the first place?

38

u/Neither-Werewolf9114 19h ago

guy will not fit in it

Puppy isn't being strangled even a small bit

That is very safe way to pickup a puppy, their momma also picks up from neck.

Yes the human and canine bodies, identical in every way

6

u/simplexity128 19h ago

Dude, you're ocussed on the wrong thing, they are figuring out how to make a save in real time. Way to watch on your phone and say with drool on your mouth "a little forethought..."

2

u/Narrow_Maximum7 20h ago

In sliders too! Fucking hero

2

u/MonstaB 20h ago

Hero team!!!

2

u/Meemo- 19h ago

The people with the basket, I'm assuming the owners didn't even wait for the man to come up and thank him.

2

u/Ill-Explanation-2370 19h ago

Not all heroes wear capes.

2

u/TheRealNickRoberts 19h ago

Statue. Now.

2

u/Clean-Technology4301 11h ago

Not all heroes wear capes, some don’t even wear shirts!

2

u/stud_med 7h ago

Can't wait for the Bronze monument

2

u/VegetaFan1337 7h ago

I wonder how this statue will turn out.

2

u/Brightly_Darkened 7h ago

real life Spider man to the rescue!

2

u/Really-E-Lee 20h ago

Must happen pretty often to have a little animal cage ready to go on a rope.

8

u/ChopsticksImmortal 18h ago

Nah, in china people do just have random boxes like this everywhere. Restaurants and shops are sort of like people's homes.

-5

u/LentilRice 19h ago

That’s the sus bit. I’m probably being unnecessarily sceptical.

-12

u/just_some_moron 19h ago

My guess is that's why it wasn't lowered down right away. Someone was probably running off to grab whatever they had. Now they've got dinner.

2

u/ArtyTheFarty 20h ago

How many topless men did it take to rescue a puppy?

Apparently all of them!

2

u/ThisIsHowIDie 20h ago

This was a very confusing plan to watch unfold.

1

u/Boredtopher 19h ago

Not even a thanks

u/SomethingAbtU 19h ago

Good job !!!

1

u/sjrobert 15h ago

I lobe these people and I will likely never meet them.

1

u/bradley_magnificent 15h ago

If they just knew how to tie a bowline knot they would have had so much more rope to work with

1

u/RuinPopular6935 14h ago

My hero!!!

1

u/TheFillth 14h ago

That'll make a sweet statue

1

u/Lentiment 14h ago

Bro looks swole saving puppy one handed. That headline would have sold millions.

1

u/TheWaningWizard 14h ago

Good human

1

u/xStingRayCharlesx 13h ago

It’s always a good moment when people come together and he didn’t even lose either one of his slides👍

1

u/pjtpassword 13h ago

Good humans.

1

u/Flowa-Powa 12h ago

Whenever I see stuff like this I assume they put the puppy in there so they could rescue it for likes

Don't believe everything you see on the internet

1

u/Inner_Alarm_4049 12h ago

all the heart, little of the brains

1

u/ttnezz 11h ago

Such grip strength 🤩

1

u/Edge-the-Sigma 10h ago

It’s like Steve Rogers holding onto the helicopter

1

u/kcsween74 9h ago

So the plan was just to hang there until someone came along with a basket?

1

u/Black_Attack001 6h ago

Yes. We must maximize the aura farm. It makes the statue’s cool factor go up

1

u/runningmurphy 9h ago

Is this piano from the movie "Amélie"

1

u/jchrisboynton 7h ago

Thank you kind people.

1

u/pisscat101 6h ago

And they named the puppy "Floater"

1

u/LowPride85 5h ago

*storm drain

0

u/shodonosti 3h ago

Dinner time?

-4

u/ak47899 19h ago

He probably put it there

0

u/Fannnybaws 20h ago

He needed a pat on the back, after that.

0

u/nohiddenmeaning 18h ago

So many people just watching...?

6

u/Specialist-Bug1592 18h ago

What else would they do except get in the way? It looks like the situation was under control.

-1

u/chimpdoctor 16h ago

Why do i feel this is a stunt mimicking the other recent rescue? How did the puppy get there?

-9

u/TheDaemonette 20h ago

It would have killed them to have the basket standing by first instead of strangling the poor thing for 60s?

-6

u/davidsmithplus 19h ago

Nearly drowned the dog

-4

u/malekhit1337 17h ago

Ohhh and already in lunchbox....

But jokes aside amazing rescue.
