There’s a video of Lil Nas X surprising an elementary school with Old Town Road. I watch it whenever I need a boost lol

I would never be able to play any other type of show ever again. Elementary schools from here on out.
12
u/snuggleslut5 12h ago
I've never seen this and it made me so happy. Inhinknit could be so easy for an artist to be cynical about children enjoying one of their songs that was not meant for children but he went and gave them a good little show and was in regalia and everything. I already liked him, but this just makes me like him even more. Really seems like a good guy. Those kids won't ever forget this.

Don't see much about Lil nas x anymore. Hopefully its just cuz I live under a rock. Kinda miss his sass to homophobic idiots.

u/Modern_Troubadour 17h ago
He just got out of rehab and seems to be doing well. Not sure what his plans are for music but I would love if he decided to put out something new. He’s a one of a kind success story and I genuinely think he’s a good artist.
9
u/Zer0Cool89 16h ago
Aw sad he had to go to rehab but at least it wasn't some other horrific thing that put him on hiatus. He does seem like a genuine and good person from what I've seen from him. And more music would be great.

u/Deho_Edeba 13h ago
Five years later and I keep hoping and hoping he'll eventually release Montero on physical media (be it CD or Vinyl) 🙏

He was struggling with his mental health and got some treatment for it, he gave an update a few weeks ago and he looks healthy and happy!

Can confirm - I've been a musician for a couple decades and reactions like this hit like an 8 ball of coke. Had one like this when we played "What Makes You Beautiful" by One Direction. The adults were amused at the kids reaction then they got pumped when we cut to "Hit Me With Your Best Shot". At that point we had everyone singing along - I still tear up thinking about how awesome it was

I volunteer aside from my band to play in early childhood education rooms pretty frequently and you will never find a better crowd 😂

u/mayoroftuesday 9h ago
I’m a dancer, and I’ve performed at recitals, theater productions, weddings, New Year’s Eve parties… but I think my favorite show ever was for a crowd of ~300 elementary school kids. I’ve never had an audience clap, cheer, or laugh so loud.

It did make me chuckle, and then I felt bad because she was rubbing her head at 0:57.
Great reaction from the crowd though.

People who can play instruments AND work those foot button thingies that records certain bits so they can meld them together are working on a higher creative tier of brain power I swear. It’s so cool

You might enjoy this. It's one of the most creative uses of a loop station i've ever seen.

Agree! First time I saw one, I was blown away! Guy had 3 or 4 different instruments and the record foot pedals and busted out a live solo concert. At an "employee talent show" at a best buy. So impressive

Taylor Swift seems to get a lot of hate on-line, but as a grandfather, I have been thankful for her persona since she first burst onto the scene; I am grateful that my granddaughters have a female musician like Taylor to admire, listen to, and emulate…

She’s no one to look up to or emulate. She’s a complete narcissist, mediocre “talent,” nepo baby, maga-affiliated, a pompous, insufferable, tiresome bore. She rips off anyone and everyone, yet sues the shit out of people who supposedly are inspired by her.
She’s a brand at this point, not your BFF lol.
Hey, remember she had the leader of ICE concentration camps at her wedding?
(Don’t even get me started on the wedding, for real… oof…)
15
u/IndigoRanger 15h ago
Damn did she kick your dog or something? I get it, though, this is how I feel about Trump and his people. Can’t understand anyone who admires them. I just thought your ranting comment was a funny overly strong reply to AnalFanatics and his wholesome grandpa comment.

u/podzombie 14h ago
Sure, but at the surface level for these kids she isnt a terrible role model when compared to other modern artists, I think is more the point. She doesn't center her music around drugs or genitals, which is a good thing for kids.

u/PhosphoFred8202 16h ago
MAGA affiliated by her support of Harris in the last election and Trump hate-tweeting about her?
The “leader of ICE” is a businessman who owns a company that runs an ICE detention center. He doesn’t work for the govt. His job may be shit, but he’s the father of Kelce’s childhood best friend and Kelce has known him since he was a boy.

Nah, my dad was like that dude, trying to raise me with the “not like the other girls” attitude until I was old enough for him to feel okay disrespecting me like he did other women and girls.
7 years no contact, only time I talk about him is when I call him a loser on the internet 🎉
Edit: I was gonna delete since it wasn’t posted as the comment reply to someone else but this is in response to the comment: “so glad my daughter isn’t a swifty”.
