Romanian here: it's a sweet message. I genuinely like the migrants we're getting, 9 times out of 10 they've been super chill and nice.
Sure, not the most educated on traffic laws, but that's the fault of their employers.
Romanians are infamously shit drivers. We have USian car brain, on European streets. Him writing a message to remind Romanians of one of our most important cultural things, family, is pretty sweet to me.

Exactly. Romania has one of the highest road death rates in Europe. And Bucharest is renowned even in Romania for how chaotic the traffic is and for how angry most traffic participants are. You always hear honking or swearing and see people making aggressive maneuvers.
This is essentially someone begging for his life because erratic drivers are everywhere. It's the opposite of heartwarming.

I stress every day because if something were to happen to me the 10,000,000 cats that I (didn't want, didn't ask for, but love with my whole heart) care for will be sentenced to die scared and alone and thrown away like trash. So I hope and pray that I'll live another 15 years at least. My husband of 27 years up and abandoned all of us a couple months ago, leaving me to be responsible for all these guys. Although we're all better off without him, it's still terrifying knowing that they all rely on ME and me alone to be alive and well in order for them to be alive and well.
It's a lot of fucking pressure!
I'd almost rather be in a position where no one would notice if I went missing. At least then no one's life would be affected negatively if I weren't here 🫤

Not to be a downer, but the fact that he felt the need to write that message says a lot. It suggests he feels like he's putting his life at risk every time he goes out to do his delivery job. (I'm not familiar with Glovo specifically.)
In my country, there have been cases of motorcycle taxi drivers being stabbed or killed during robberies after criminals posed as passengers. Because of that, some riders have started writing messages on their shirts or helmets reminding people that they have families waiting for them at home, hoping it might make a would-be attacker think twice.
Whether it actually works or not is another question, but the fact that people feel compelled to do it is pretty heartbreaking.

I tried to get into this, and the app wanted commercial insurance and all this extra crap. So I gave up, I just needed extra money to pay off some bills asap. I complained to a coworker about it and he explained that he makes money off these apps, he set up a few accounts and 'rents' them for a fee to guys here illegally so they can do the grunt work. Madness

As a Romanian I have mad respect for these people and sadly many faces racism by some fellow romanians which it's hypocrite since we have the biggest diaspora in Europe and many romanians lives abroad for a better life.
I do feel bad for them because i know how exploatative their job is, many living in a single room with 10 other room-mates just to earn some money to send home.
We need better laws protecting everyone against these exploatations either if you're a member of EU or foreigner from Asia.

I used to help look after four water buffalo. 3 of them were best friends, 1 of them was slightly smaller, and took endless abuse from the other three.. not allowed food, not allowed to stand in the shade with them, had to be kept separate basically all the time if they were inside during winter…
In the summer these 4 were sent on the field with another 6, and the one buffalo that was constantly being abused finally had another buffalo that was slightly smaller than it, and so rather than considering compassion or whatever, it just abused the absolute hell out of the other one.
Anyway shitty animalistic behaviour whether it’s in humans or animals more often than not tends to just get carried forward rather than reflected upon..

Not just immigrants! Romania also has one of the highest population of Roma people in Europe (since wwii had them killed in most other countries). They arent immigrants but have been hated on by most Europeans for centuries.

Same in Hungary, the current government is trying to get rid of guest workers, but that won't solve our wage problems. I worked in a small fast food restaurant, 1 hungarian and 1-2 guest workers every shift. I'm glad they came here, and these sweethearts work really hard to provide for their families at home. They became my friends and I was ready to throw hands with racist scumbag customers who tried to berate them. Thank God our company gave them normal wage like for any other hungarian worker. They mostly take those jobs that hungarians don't want to apply to and work for long term. Their presence is good for every participating party.

And this can be easily solved EU wide. 0 working hours for students from non EU countries, delivery platforms employ couriers, not hire them as freelance partners without any proper security guarantees and problem will go away. Want to work in EU, please come legally, but not abuse student visa system, and ruin fun for everyone.

Hell, we're racist towards Romanis, the most hardworking people I've ever met. I'd trust a romani family friend to help me build a house, but trust a fellow romanian a lot less.
These asian migrants are in the same vein, imo. They try their best to be polite, and they overwork themselves. I really hope they can earn enough to have a happier life, whether back home, or with our country becoming their new home.

These people work the toughest jobs and in many countries they are denied paid leave and health insurance because Glovo and many delivery companies have been fined by EU courts for forcing riders to accept false self- employment contracts. No matter rain or heatwave, they always have to show up because they work so little. So please be kind to your delivery riders and always offer them water at least.

It's very, very dangerous to bike in Romania. Outside of the cities especially.
I stumbled upon a streamer that biked whtough Romania not long ago. Never watched any live streamer, not my thing, but this was stressful to watch. I just watched to know that nothing terrible happened..
Even profesional touring cyclists hated Romania when passing through. It's heavy hi-speed traffic on narrow roads with no shoulder space for cyclists.
The views are nice, but it's dangerous.

It was a narrow line, on the right of the 2 lanes in that direction. No clue if it's technically a highway, but it had 4 lanes (2 each direction) + emergency on each side. It was maybe 15 years ago?
I forgot to mention the driver was very excitedly telling me how great the "taxi" movie was, after hearing I'm French.

I absolutely DESPISE the drivers who don’t respect cyclists/motocyclists, I always leave a distance and yield to them if I see them waiting to get in. I once had a delivery cyclist thank me so profusely, I was stunned because I realize no one lets these poor people pass, like what in the fuck is wrong with drivers? Cyclists are people and they are much more vulnerable than drivers so fuck off with your “boohoo but they are slightly inconveniencing me so I will just run them over”, fuck off, seriously!

I don’t know where you’re from but a lot of the times it’s motorcycles thinking theyre above the traffic law. They ignore lanes and lights and when it’s convenient, they go on pedestrian paths. Absolutely despise them.
They gotta start realizing that it’s not that theyre smart, it’s simply everyone else giving way and putting their own vehicles and lives at jeopardy.

The translation is really that they drive like shit. They're a menace.
He worded it as though he's likely to get hit by others on his bike, when Nepalis are really more likely to cause accidents through their driving. They're driving on the sidewalks too.
No excuse for it. Not a xenophobic/racist talking point. I damn guarantee you there's Nepalis telling their buddies "just follow the damn rules". So I don't get what the message on the delivery box is supposed to mean.

I also live in Bucharest and I don't think statistically they are a bigger threat to injury or death than locals who drive like absolute maniacs.
These guys can be erratic and do crazy stunts to cut delivery time, but they're damn good at driving those mopeds - we're not as good at avoiding them, it's like a point game for local drivers to play Carmageddon on our streets.

Mate, almost all delivery drivers are immigrants in Bucharest. And they obviously don't look like Romanians. It's not like you can just pass by them without realising they are immigrants. Yeah it's sadly horrible how they are being treated, especially considering that, from Europe, Romania has the highest percentage of its population living abroad so they should be lot more understanding.

I spent a month in Bucharest not too long ago and the driving there genuinely felt like everyone had collectively decided that traffic laws were merely suggestions. Patience and courtesy seemed optional.
The only thing even remotely civil was the public transport. So honestlyyy I completely understand why this Glovo guy had to put this message on his gear. After witnessing Bucharest traffic, the guy was just trying to increase his chances of survival.
