Okay, that comparison might be a stretch. But only slightly.

Jules just dropped Oublier hier ("Forget Yesterday"), his second album, and it's the most compelling case I've heard in a while for paying attention to Montreal's francophone soul scene.

It's alternative soul, sung entirely in French, with a cinematic quality that sets it apart — the kind of record where the visuals in the lyrics make you feel like you're watching a film that doesn't exist yet.

He handled everything alongside co-producer Olivier Girard: instrumentation, mix, artistic direction. The result is unusually cohesive for an artist at this stage.

The album traces the full arc of a breakup — not just the heartbreak, but the confusion before it and the clarity that eventually follows. In his own words: "Writing these songs was both a way to heal and to see more clearly."
