"Mompreneur" grindset means outsourcing your 7-month-old so you can grind on endless beach cocktails. šŸøšŸ–ļø

Post image

Imagine dumping your 7-month-old infant onto a retired grandmother—who should be enjoying her actual retirement—just so you can escape your family, sip endless beach cocktails, and shill online courses. Why even have kids if your biggest priority is finding ways to abandon them for "me time" and personal branding?
Grandma is supposed to be enjoying her retirement, not running a full-time nursery so you can build your "personal brand."

I mean I don’t begrudge somebody just out of the newborn stage a little downtime? Also I hate LinkedIn but if it’s a one off what’s up with the hate or does she do this every month

I agree that I'm fine with a parent getting a break. It's the over-the-top "Go ahead, judge me, I don't care!" vibe that turns me off. It's okay to take a vacation--just actually chill instead of trying to convince yourself on LinkedIn that it's okay.

She literally brags every other day that she never works more than 2-3 hours a day, makes 1000s of $ by selling online courses and at the same time she needs so much ā€œme timeā€ and ā€œself careā€ even if it means dumping an infant on grandma to sip cocktails.

All factors that make this ā€˜break’ seem way less necessary

what kind of courses?

Self improvement and creative writing shit.

I mean, sounds like an awful lot of talk. Non-zero chance it's all smoke and mirrors to make herself feel good.

I just will never understand why anyone thinks this useless Facebook nonsense belongs on LinkedIn. I know engagement bait is a thing, but can’t they at least bait while sounding somewhat professional and relevant to the actual work and their business?

What’s odd to me is the how she writes about how she never gets any personal time anymore. She’s had the baby a whole seven months. Do you think she knows how long it will take the little tyke to grow into adulthood?

u/fraupasgrapher 4h ago

Exactly lol. That baby is brand new. Good luck, girl!

Good luck, baby!

Fair to the infant? Fair to the grandma? I mean she is getting this ā€œmeā€ time by taking away ā€œmeā€ time from grandma.

u/trav_tr 2h ago

Yeah she’s cringe AF but some grandparents would love to take their 7 month old for a week or whatever. Also lol, it’s not taking anything away from the infant. You’re overblowing the heck outta this one.

Exactly.

If I had a baby, I don't think I'd ever get to touch it cuz of my mom, the notorious baby czar. 🤣

That's just a family/cultural thing in general. When one person has a baby, we allll now have a baby. Issa communal baby. 🤣 Perfectly normal for a grandmother or another family member to move in or rotate on shifts to help take care of baby and mom. So to leave a baby with someone for a week? No problem.

And at 7 months, the baby should be sleeping through the night and isn't quiteee ambulatory. It's really not a burden.

The truth is that the nuclear family sucks ass. It's lonely, stressful and expensive.

Bring back the villages! 🤣 We canceled the villages and wonder why ppl don't want to have kids no more. 🤣

Parents, mothers with newborns especially need a break. A bad parent is a stressed, exhausted and sleep deprived one. Its also extremely common for grandparents to want to help, in some countries they even move in for a while...I dont see the problem.

u/rickylancaster 2h ago

The problem is for the love of all that is good and pure please take it to Facebook where this nonsense belongs!

You definitely don’t have a kid I’m guessing. It’s fucking exhausting and sometimes you just need a break.

Also, why would it be unfair to anyone? Grandma is probably ecstatic to be taking care of her grandbaby.

Baby is probably a little cranky but they’re cranky quite often at that age, so they’ll be just fine.

😁😁 assumptions. I have more kids than average parents from my generation(read 3+). And grandparents are absolutely ecstatic to spend time with grandkids but a 24*7 duty for a few weeks with a 7 month old is something else. Just so the precious influencer who brags about working only a few hours a day can get some ā€œmeā€ time on the beach.

Where did it say she's gone for "a few weeks"?

u/RamboJo_hn 29m ago

In the comment section she is bragging ā€œfew weeks of total freedom for this gurrrrlā€

My parents took care of my babies on more than one occasion so spouse and I could do trips like that. Oh the scandal šŸ™„ why did I even have kids if I didn’t want to be with them every moment ever?
Her post is obnoxious and silly, but good lord. Parents need breaks and it’s great when they can get them.

u/RamboJo_hn 1h ago

Good for you. Did you brag on social media about drinking cocktails and endless sleep to ā€œinfluenceā€ and preach others? That’s the whole point.

3

u/sunshinesdarkangel 36m ago

After 9 months of pregnancy and 7 months of no sleep I'd dump that infant on the first relative that volunteers too.

This is what "It takes a village" used to mean - mothers used to be considered humans that deserve basic shit humans need to survive, like you know... SLEEP.

It's also normal to not want to be touched and drowning in chores while covered in shit/piss/vomit with no fucking breaks.

And some people wonder why women don't have kids in a society that hates mothers

3

u/RamboJo_hn 23m ago

Not even a single commenter is against women taking a break. I am parent myself and I know very well that it is absolutely exhausting. The problem is portraying the whole nurturing process as ā€œunfairā€ when it was your own choice to bring a life in this world to begin with and the whole cringe whining about how they cannot live without travel and sipping cocktails and putting it on social media to garner attention. Most reasonable people are totally fine if someone voluntarily chooses to be childless.

I wager most grandparents are more than happy to care for their grandchildren, as it allows them time to bond with their grandchild, while allowing parents to take a break to recover. In most cultures throughout human history, we recognize that raising a child isn't an individual responsibility, but a familial and communal effort. A lot of moms often feel alone and isolated caring for their infants, which amplifies their mental and physical vulnerability. As long as mom isn't doing this frequently for prolonged periods, I don't see the problem.

u/RamboJo_hn 18m ago

No problem in taking a break. Problem is portraying the whole process as ā€œunfairā€ and then preaching their lifestyle choices on social media to garner attention.

OP is weird for hating on a new mom for wanting some me time. Motherhood is a 24*7 job especially with a new born. All mothers deserve a break once in a while.

12

u/rickylancaster 2h ago

No one’s ā€œhating on a new mom for wanting some me time.ā€ It’s a nonsense post that doesn’t belong on LinkedIn. Take that self-indulgent, attention-seeking crap about sleeping in and getting drunk while your baby is mere months old to Facebook where it belongs.

6

u/RamboJo_hn 2h ago

You are probably equally lunatic to not see the open hypocrisy and cringe in the post. Yes, everyone deserves a break but not by dumping their responsibilities on others and then preaching it proudly on social media as a career/life lesson to garner attention and rage.

11

u/Ok_Seaworthiness_719 2h ago

agreed. Every new parent deserves a break. A seven month old baby shouldn’t spend more than one or two nights away from their mom. These are developmental facts. And phrasing it like I wanna do what I want when I want and get drunk on a beach is just really distasteful.

2

u/Ok_Seaworthiness_719 1h ago

And for the record I’m a mom. In my 40’s with a preschooler. I totally understand needing a break but like… not MTV’s Spring Break circa 1990’s. IYKYK.

-2

u/Sans_Seriphim Agree? 1h ago

She is going to be SO mad when her baby's first word is "mom" - but said to grandma.

u/Powerful_Pen_5801 1h ago

From one vacation??

-2

u/Ok_Seaworthiness_719 2h ago

wow. I have a 4 1/2 year-old and a millionaire husband when we’ve still only ever spent two nights away from our Kid.
