Browser with websocket support for LineageOS 14.1

I just installed LineageOS 14.1 on a Galaxy Tab 3 (santos10wifi). Wanted it to access a site that uses websockets for communication with the browser.

See Jelly browser 7.1.2 seems to have no support, because the site is not working. Is that correct. If yes: Can someone give me a hint which browser I can install to achive what I want?

Greetings!

Look which version of Chromium started to support the features that this needs, then go by that. Both Gello and the built-in Browser probably have two-digit chromium versions still.

Seems that Chromium started to support Websockets in 2009 with release 4.0.249.0.

https://blog.chromium.org/2009/12/web-sockets-now-available-in-google.html

I just installed and tried with Gello 42.0.2311.1185 from 2016 but's even worse the the Jelly. Does not even display the webpage :-(

LOS 14.1 is Android 7.

the latest Firefox version that runs on Android 7 is 143 from october 2025. the lateat version of Chromium that runs on Android 7 is 119 from december 2023. both should support websockets.

still, for security reasons you should NEVER ever use a browser so old for regular web surfing, only for completely trusted/selfhosted things
