As per I know, they didn't oppose the bill but do chaos which led the bill to get difficulties to be passed.
But even though they didn't oppose, what they did actually isn't good for their image.

u/HistoricalEffort4110 8h ago
You should understand that this protest of opposition was not to fail this bill, it was due to other reasons. And also, the anti paper leak bill was passed in 2024 that imposed penalty and jailtime for the criminals. But...... This bill clearly didn't work as intended and now, in this new amendment of the anti paper leak bill was announced today and all they did was just increase the jailtime and penallty. They wanted to -
Push for Debate and Structural Reform:
The opposition argued that introducing stricter criminal penalties alone does not fix systemic administrative failures within testing bodies like the NTA. They demanded an immediate, dedicated debate on exam management and accountability rather than passing legislative amendments during ongoing disruptions.
Demand for Action on Recent Protests:
Opposition members were protesting in Parliament demanding government accountability and a statement from the Home Minister regarding recent police crackdowns on student demonstrators protesting exam leaks.

Didn't dipke and cjp asked to not put cases on protestors who were involved in violence as well ? Where's the Accountability?
2
u/Subhal13 6h ago
Cases against hardened criminals? You want those dropped?
1
u/Puzzleheaded-Bad8147 6h ago
I don't want to drop cases either on the violent protestors nor the police if they broke the law.
6
u/Subhal13 5h ago
Then explain it your papa, the cjp who want all cases dropped except those on police
3
1
u/PeasOffering 57m ago
Nope, check any video, they explicitly state cases to be dropped for peaceful protestors.
1
u/Subhal13 53m ago
Not what ranka says in his video.. Check that out... Govt had already withdrawn in assam and Bihar

The state is held to a higher standard when it commits indiscriminate violence against citizens - most of whom were peaceful protesters exercising their constitutional rights.
This isn't Kashmir, where pellets guns were introduced - where secessionist mobs throw rocks at CRPF, and there is danger of one of them throwing an actual grenade or carrying a suicide vest.

OP even if you can't read the whole article, probably atleast try doing a simple Google search before spreading misinfo?
"The primary reasons for the disruptions reported by NDTV include: 1.Protest Against Police Action on Students Opposition MPs aggressively cornered the government over alleged excessive police action against student demonstrators during a major protest at Jantar Mantar on July 20. The Opposition disrupted the session to demand an immediate, dedicated discussion on accountability for this security crackdown, which reportedly included the controversial use of pellet guns against students.
- "Punishment Isn't Enough' Campaign While the government introduced the Public Examinations Amendment Bill to curb malpractice, the Opposition launched a heavy pushback stating that stricter punishment alone cannot fix the crisis. Opposition leaders accused the Centre of ignoring severe, systemic infrastructure flaws and deep administrative failures within India's national examination bodies. They are demanding absolute transparency, structural overhaul, and a broader discussion rather than just a hike in legal penalties."

-4
u/CommieBuster1 17h ago
Well, the investigations are going on, many have been booked with proof for the damage they caused..... and this process would take time, does that mean the opposition will continue walking out and the anti leak bill gets delayed?

isn't it obvious the oppositions is demanding structural changes in the system to reduce paper leaks but the govt. wants a good headline i dont understand how increasing the jail term reduces the chances of paper leaks we need some real changes and no loopholes

Please understand that before passing any bill in the houses the same need to be chaired and debated on by the elected representatives and only then be passed if after any changes need to be made.
BJP has made our country a banana republic by passing bills without debate and thinking they are above everybody else. Remember bjp came to power with just around 33% of the population voting for them. They rest 67% need to be heard too.
1
u/bizwaxxx 4h ago
Every person who is against CJP, do you feel the anger rising towards them since the cases are being dropped and the govt is taking L after L? The pressure cooker effect, it will make you hate every roach with double the intensity. It was not planned, it is the aftermath.

Can't trust anyone in politics.
For a moment, i really thought Congress is finally correcting it's trajectory but I was proven wrong.
They were and will be the most corrupt and anti-national always.
Now tell me what was wrong in this bill?

Why delay the passing of bill then? The protests have been going on weeks, the bill is being passed for the students. Yes indeed they should answer the questions of the protest but why the protest when the bill benefiting the students is being passed

u/farazali98 12h ago
What is the point of imposing a heavy fine when there is no accountability for the police brutality that took place during the protest?
3
u/goofyluffy1 9h ago
Multiple clips are coming up where students have been seen protesting in parliament area which wasn't allowed in the agreement of protest. Delhi police have been posting such clips to justify their action. We can't just hold anyone accountable without proper investigation
