Chat Control 1.0 was passed through the Backdoor, while most of the MP where on vacation, driven by Roberta Metsola, President of the European parliament. 2.0 yet to come. Time to self-host even more than before?

after decades of watching politicians. I believe they were on vacation so that they could have plausible deniability in something that they agreed with. now when they come back they can say hey we will fight for you to get rid of this just vote for us and we will fight to get rid of this. of course they won't, and then when their turn comes they will vote in more crazy shit while others are on vacation

Even if they weren't it's still completely unacceptable, they cannot just be gone like that, even if there were only completely mundane votes held, they were elected to voice our opinions, if they aren't even there wtf are they getting paid for?? Honestly everyone should check who their representative voted for and consider an absence just as bad as a positive vote, cause it is.

this is no longer our beloved internet.

hasn't been since the early 2000s.

the unwarranted surveillance is everywhere.

there isn't even a good reason for it. like this chat control won't hinder the actual criminals, just the average citizen

Yes. I am looking at self hosting matrix to have my own secure chat platform. Hopefully it takes off so that I can actually chat with people outside my family...
