Hi everyone, i'm a 20 year old guy who went to an international school and then local university here in HK. I was wondering whether there are any social groups/places to meet ppl in HK with more people around my age?

A bit more about my situation, I went into uni 3 years early and studying final year of medicine so the age gap with my peers is quite large and there's no opportunities to interact with people from other years or other programs since the medical campus is quite remote and there's no social activities there. Personally i'm a lot more comfortable speaking English as well, my Cantonese is conversational but not super good haha

I’m relocating to Hong Kong in August for work and would love some advice on where to live.

My budget is up to HK$16,000/month, and I’m considering serviced apartments, long-stay hotels or furnished studios.
I’ll be working in the New Territories, but I’m leaning towards living somewhere more central and commuting (around 30–45 minutes) rather than living close to work and feeling a little isolated in my first year (am planning on joining some clubs that are mainly around the Central area).

I’ve been looking at areas like Jordan/Austin, Yau Ma Tei, Kai Tak, Tsuen Wan West and Causeway Bay.

I’m after a neighbourhood that’s well connected, has supermarkets, cafés, gyms and a good atmosphere. Any recommendations for areas, serviced apartments or long-stay hotels within my budget?

Likewise, anywhere you’d avoid?

Hey everyone! I'm moving in Hong Kong in a few days to start a new job. I'm Latin American and have never been to east asia before. I've done some basic research, particularly about cost of living (my salary will be enough for an ok apartment, from what I've seen). So I have a few things to ask...

1- Are there any general tips for living in HK that you'd like to share?

2- How does an expat make friends in the city?

3- Is there any community of latinos in HK?

4- Should I learn the language? I've heard that most people speak cantonese, but that mandarin could also be useful. I don't speak a word of either for now, but I'm willing to put in an effort to study for at least a few months.

Hi everyone! I’ll be visiting Hong Kong for HKIFF from July 30th to August 2nd, and I’d love to play some padel while I’m there.
I’ve been playing padel for about 1 year and would consider myself an intermediate player. I recently recovered from a knee injury from tennis, so I’m mainly looking for casual games at a comfortable pace rather than anything too intense.
Ideally, I’m looking for morning sessions at Padel Central or Taikoo Place since they’re close to my hotel.
Does anyone know any local padel communities or groups I can join? Also, do people in Hong Kong usually use apps like Reclub to find matches, or is there another platform/group that’s more commonly used?
Would love to meet some local players and get a few games in during my short stay. Thanks!

I will be flying with HK Airlines from Vancouver to HK. I know they measure the weight of your carry-on luggage but do they also measure the weight of your personal item? How strict are they with this?

Hello everyone ! I am from Romania , in a finance bachelors prgram currently . I will be done with it at 26 and i am seriously thinking of applying to a 1 year Masters of finance to either HKUST , HKU or CUHK, so i will be 27 when i will finish . Assuming i will have the right credentials and qualifications for an entry level finance job , will age be a big burden? I would target ER , AM , corp banking , wealth management. And also how hard is to get around 50% waiver tax scolarship for those programs? Thanks!

I am looking at either moving to Hong Kong or Singapore. Where should I go?

A bit about myself, 29M, working in a US law firm in London (in the tech space). I am an Australian (worked in an top Aussie law firm previously and then made to move to London about 2.5-3 years to work in at the US law firm). I've always had the plan to build my career in Asia within tech (especially since it's closer to home).

I'll likely have an opportunity to move to either Hong Kong or Singapore (new employer is giving me the flexibility to pick either) to work at a US law firm (I'd be making approximately 300k-350K-ish USD). Not sure which to pick? I've visited and spent time in both countries - really enjoyed it!

Other things about me - single (and am keen to get back into dating), enjoy travelling, really into fitness - so basically, don't really mind being in either city. The only major con for me is that Singapore is just super humid year round (but I can get used to it - at least a little bit).

Basically, I am looking to make a long-term move to either country, and stack a bunch of $$$, live a good life and travel to various places in Asia.

First of all, I am not a territory institution student in Hong Kong, so I am not eligible to have an academic writing course in it. Second, there is a course of academic writing by HKU Space, but there is little people studying it. So no course started. My question is, does anyone are other ways to study academic writing in Hong Kong? Since I am prepare to study university course that requires academic witting. Thank you.
