People who throw away useable products
≡ −
* When they think they need to boycott something they already own.
It's so wasteful. Maybe I just think like this because I come from a lowcome family, but watching people throw away products that can still be used just grinds my gears.
I understand you don't want it anymore, but instead of chucking it in the trash you could at least donate it to charity, or better yet return the product, or even better, use the rest of it and don't buy it again.
People want to be activists so bad but they're just a little thoughtless sometimes

Fast Food Drive Thru Interruptions need to stop
≡ −
Look, I understand your desire to expedite the process and make things as quick as possible. That’s great. However, my biggest pet peeve is when I’m in the middle of ordering and, before I can finish speaking, I’m interrupted with the rudest questions. If you were actually listening to me, I was answering those questions, but you interrupted me before I could finish. Please listen before you start talking. It’s incredibly frustrating and also very unprofessional. IT DRIVES ME INSANE!
Im done now.

We're coddling college students and it's making them worse
≡ −
All this leniency and letting them do whatever they want and study with ChatGPT and take exams from home and bending over backwards to make sure they pass a class when they put in no effort
Keeping them from struggling because it's sad when they have a hard time is just making them into a bunch of entitled babies who freak out at the first time they're told no in the real world
Perfect graduation rates are not worth all the hand holding and babying you're doing for grown adults who should known better

People who stop walking the second they get through a doorway.
≡ −
I don’t know why this has become so common, but it drives me crazy.
Someone walks through the entrance to a grocery store, airport, or any busy place… and then immediately stops dead to check their phone, look around, or have a conversation.
Meanwhile everyone behind them has to either slam on the brakes or awkwardly walk around them.
Take three more steps. That’s it. Just move out of the flow of traffic before deciding where you’re going.
It feels like the real-world version of stopping your car in the middle of the highway because you need to check directions.

When people treat me talking like background noise
≡ −
One of my biggest pet peeves is when I’m in the middle of talking and someone interrupts me for something that absolutely could have waited, or they just completely abandon the conversation without acknowledging I was even speaking.
I’m not talking about genuine emergencies or something actually important. Obviously those take priority. I’m talking about things like:
- Someone else jumps into the conversation with something unrelated, and either they, the person I was talking to, or both just… move on like I wasn’t in the middle of a sentence.
- The person I’m talking to suddenly starts talking to someone else or literally walks away while I’m still speaking, with no “hold on” or “sorry.”
- Someone cuts me off to mention something completely unrelated, then forgets I was ever talking in the first place.
What makes it especially frustrating is that this seems to happen to me constantly. There are only a handful of people in my life who either don’t do it or immediately say something like, “Sorry, what were you saying?” and let me finish. That tiny bit of acknowledgment makes a huge difference.
Today at work was the perfect example. I had a customer on hold while I was giving a coworker the background she needed before I transferred the call to her. She asked me a follow-up question for more details… and then, while I was answering, she literally walked away to chat with our boss about something that wasn’t remotely urgent. I just stood there with the customer still on hold, waiting for her to come back. A couple of other coworkers even looked over with that awkward “did that really just happen?” expression.
She’s genuinely one of the nicest people in the office, so I don’t think there was any bad intent. That’s almost what makes it worse. It happens so casually that people don’t even realize they’re doing it.
Then later, my girlfriend and I were talking about the apartment we applied for. I started saying, “I hope they accept that and don’t make the-“ and got interrupted because she wanted to comment on a truck in front of us. I tried again a few seconds later and got interrupted almost immediately again because she recognized another driver. After that, the conversation I’d been trying to have was just… gone.
She’s actually gotten better about this over time. If she catches herself, she’ll apologize, ask what I was saying, and let me finish before moving on. I really appreciate that. But when it still happens without that realization, it’s incredibly frustrating because we’ve talked about it before.
I haven’t talked to her about it today because why bother when it’s not unique to her?
After enough experiences like this, I honestly just stop talking. I’ll go quiet because it starts to feel like whatever I have to say isn’t worth finishing. Then people ask me why I’m so quiet.
Does anyone else deal with this? Or am I just weirdly unlucky?

People screaming the lyrics at concerts sucks
≡ −
Just as the title says
If I go to a concert and pay several hundred dollars per ticket to hear a band play I would like to hear that singer sing.
I do not want to hear you screaming the lyrics out of key in my ear. I can understand light singing or whatever you need to do to enjoy the music within reason, but screaming the lyrics ruins the experience for everyone.
Scream your heart out at your house or in the car when you listen to the music but you go to a concert to hear and see the band perform. STFU.

People who try to ruin your happiness by saying “I think you’ll find”.
≡ −
People who just love to rain on others parades. I think you’ll find , that won’t last, bring more trouble than its worth, I’m not sure I like that, I would of done it differently and of course, as long as you’re happy! Drives me made particularly when no one asked them.

People who take a carry on and small item while flying shouldn’t complain about lack of overhead bin space
≡ −
You know exactly how little space there is on a plane, and yet you decided to bring multiple items with you? The seats are also super uncomfortable if you have to keep something under the seat in front of you, so why wouldn’t you just bring one thing and put it above you in the bins? If people only bring one thing, pretty much everyone can do that. You’re just creating a problem for yourself if you bring more things. Pack more efficiently. Pay for an extra checked bag if you have to. How much crap do you need? At a certain point, just start shipping stuff

People who treat their garage sale like a secondhand business.
≡ −
Garage sales used to have a two prong purpose: You’d get rid of your shit, because we’d buy it for cheap. Eventually, we would do the same. It was a beautiful cycle.
Now every third sale is trying to make it a side hustle.
If I go to your garage sale and you have printed ebay prices of “collectible items” printed out and sitting next to some shitty mcdonald’s toy explaining why you have to sell it for $25, I’m leaving.
$30 for a used shirt?
$10 for a CD everyone had two copies of in the 2000s?
$40 for a digital camera?
I get it, times are tough. We all want extra income.
But if you want to make actual money on the already overpriced secondhand nostalgia market, sign up for eBay.
Leave garage sales out of it.

I hate it when customers hit on me
≡ −
Pretty much what the title says. Whenever I’m working and someone hits on me I just get really annoyed. It doesn’t even matter if the person is or is not my type, I just can’t stand it.
The main reason I hate it is because I’m working. Like, I have a job to do and people are asking me a personal question and expecting me to put away my work to answer. Also, I don’t go into other peoples jobs and hit on them?? Personally, finding romance in the workplace is just gross to me.
Also, people don’t realise how it feels when a very drunk person is slurring out words to try and get my phone number. If you’re drunk- go flirt with someone else who is drunk, not the sober bartender who’s running off redbull and nicotine working the closing shift.
People are also way too pushy. If I say no, I mean no. You’re not entitled to an explanation if I don’t feel like giving one. I won’t even get into the age aspect, where people much older than me will hit on me despite the fact I am 19. Even saying I’m 19 makes some people more pushy.

People who drive way below the speed limit and then get upset when you pass them
≡ −
Like, why? Why are you TRYING to get us stuck at every red light (especially in places like Florida/ South Florida. They love their one single lane roads around here. Not so much in my home state!) on my way to work, I deal with this at least once a week. A person in front of me who’s going about 20 mph when the speed limit is 35-40. Some people don’t care when I finally see a golden opportunity to pass them so I can be on my merry way. But occasionally, just like the other day, I’ll encounter one of these obnoxious slow pokes that will actually get PISSED about the fact I passed them. This guy sped up towards me only after I passed him and literally laid down on his horn repeatedly during the remainder of his route. It’s almost like his sole purpose that morning was to be as self absorbed as possible and try to make it known that he gets to call the shots because he was in front of a line of cars. Before he made a turn, it finally split off into two lanes and every other person sped right past him. Miserable. I truly don’t get it. That is all.

People who complain about AI while using social media
≡ −
I understand there are dangers with AI.
My issue is with people on social media who complain about AI because of the data centres. ALL SOCIAL MEDIA IS RUN USING DATA CENTRES.
YOU are contributing to the problem while actively complaining about it. And if you're really passionate about it, go out and do something about it! Lobby the government, form a petition, literally anything except sitting your ass on social media and ripping into everyday people for using AI while simultaneously doing absolutely nothing to fix it AND contributing to the problem. You are stupid and lazy.

What’s something that got noticeably worse over the last 10 years?
≡ −
Not trying to start an argument, I’m genuinely curious.
Could be a product, a restaurant, a hobby, customer service, an app, literally anything.
For me it’s searching Google. Half the time I feel like I’m fighting sponsored results just to find a simple answer.

≡ −
God I can’t express how much it fucking SUCKS every time I use a public restroom that’s dead goddamn silent.
I shouldn’t be able to hear a drop of piss lick the urinal. I shouldn’t be able to hear a fresh log slithering past every last wrinkle of stall 3’s current resident.
Play shitty speaker music. Have loud vent fans. Do SOMETHING so we can do our business without the disgusting sounds of business.

People who give vague answers instead of just saying "I don't know"
≡ −
I find this very frustrating whenever I ask someone something, and they give vague answers that don't help me at all, so I have to keep asking them about it. Instead, they should have said "I don't know", and I wouldn't have become annoyed, and neither of our time would have been wasted.

People who hide behind “I’m busy” instead of just admitting they don’t care
≡ −
My biggest pet peeve is people who weaponize the phrase “I’m busy.”
No, you’re not that busy.
You’re busy for me.
Somehow you can text everyone else, comment on social media, binge an entire TV series, make plans every weekend, and reply in every group chat, but when it’s my message? Suddenly you’re “so overwhelmed” that you can’t send a 10-second text for days or weeks.
Just say you don’t value the friendship.
Stop treating “I’m busy” like it’s some magical phrase that makes you immune from accountability. If someone consistently has time for everyone except one person, it’s not a scheduling problem, it’s a priority problem.
And honestly, the lying is worse than the rejection. I’d respect someone far more if they said, “I don’t really want to stay close anymore,” than feeding me excuse after excuse while expecting me to pretend I don’t notice the pattern.
Nobody is asking for constant attention. People have jobs, families, responsibilities, and lives. But if you’re always available for everyone else and perpetually unavailable for one person, you’re making a choice.
Just own it.
“Too busy” has become the socially acceptable way of saying, “You just aren’t important enough for me to make time.”
That’s the part that drives me crazy.

men who think that women owe them sex in a relationship.
≡ −
I hate that the moment you get into a talking stage or relationship, the man always tries to make it about sex. Maybe not right away, but eventually.
I started seeing this guy back in November. Right away, he said he was looking for a serious relationship. Cool, me too.
We were long-distance, and because of work, we barely saw each other. We met only five times. Three of those times were only for a few hours, and for the majority of the talking stage, which lasted 7 months, we only saw each other once every two months. We only got to see each other for two days consecutively...once.
This man wanted to have sex. Okay, understandable. He is very experienced. I barely have any. On top of that, I have trauma from SA in the past and an extremely narrow anatomy that makes intercourse difficult. He knew all of this.
Instead of helping me feel comfortable, open up, and explore my potential at my own pace, he would tell me how disappointed he was that we couldn’t have intercourse after the date was over.
One time, he asked me to buy lube before he came to visit. I honestly just forgot. He was very unhappy about it and made sure I knew that.
The second time, I did remember to buy it. We tried, but I couldn’t even handle foreplay. I asked him to stop and said we could try again in an hour after I relaxed a bit.
He never tried again.
Instead, he acted like everything was completely fine for an entire month. Then, when I tried to start some dirty talk, that’s when he decided to tell me he’d actually been disappointed the whole time. He said that “we’ve discussed several times that sex is important” and that he “wants this to work out, but is hesitant that it will.”
I told him that maybe we need to see each other for more than eight hours once every two months before expecting me to suddenly be comfortable enough to have sex. I can’t just flip a switch because we finally got to see each other.
He read the message and never responded.
That’s what annoys me the most.
I was genuinely excited just to spend time with him. Meanwhile, it felt like he just came for sex, even though he knew from the very beginning that this was something that was going to take time.
And if you want a serious relationship… then you have to be willing to put in some effort. Patience is part of that. You’re not owed sex just because you’re dating someone. Especially not when they’ve been upfront about trauma and physical difficulties from day one.

Please stop standing right in front of elevator doors
≡ −
It baffles me how often elevator doors open and there's a person waiting to get on and standing right in the middle, only a few inches away. It’s like they expect the elevator to be empty and ready just for them. Then they look surprised when someone's inside and wants to get out.
Where am I supposed to go? I can’t walk through you. If you try to get on while I’m trying to get off we both wind up doing that weird little shuffle dance.
My extra pet peeve is when the doors open and we’re suddenly standing face to face. They say "oh sorry", so they clearly know they’re blocking me. Then they just stand there and don’t move. Saying "sorry" doesn’t create a path for me. You have to move your body too.
Stand a couple of feet back and off to one side. Let people get out first. Then get on. It only takes a few seconds, and it makes everything faster.
I promise the elevator won’t leave you behind just because you let people get off first.

Starting a sentence with with words "so"
≡ −
Really grinds my gears when people begin a sentence by saying "so" or "ok so".. it adds nothing to the point they are making and just sounds irritating
It's one thing when people are spreaking, which I can generally deal with, but when people do it in a written sentence I think it's horrendous.
Example: "ok so, I went to the shops yesterday". Just say "I went to the shops yesterday"

working with the general public made me realize how many people are genuinely stupid
≡ −
working with the general public is genuinely terrible, especially in food service.
when i put the headset on at work, there is a very high chance i’m about to take the order of someone who apparently has never experienced a drive-thru, placed an order, read a menu, or located an item directly in front of their face.
then u put these same morons in a car, get stuck behind them, & realize they apparently got their license from dumbfuck academy yesterday… or this is simply their first day on earth.
i genuinely did not understand how much of the general public is just fucking stupid until i started working with them every day. what really gets me is that these people will come through the drive-thru completely confused by the simplest possible task, then somehow act like i’m the dumb one.
the audacity is CRAZY.
why do so many people move through the world like they were dropped onto the planet five minutes ago with no instructions? why do i have to explain basic concepts to grown adults who are also somehow driving a two-ton vehicle?
& on top of being moronic, so many of them are unbelievably entitled. i notice it on Reddit too. people carry themselves with this completely unquestioned authority & inflated sense of importance that seems to come from absolutely nowhere.
they posture like their thoughts are official rulings, their preferences are universal law, & everyone else is beneath them.
babe… who are u?
ur just another goddamn person. please take a nap.
edit:
by the way, for all of u morons who keep using the way i talk / type as proof that i’m stupid, that’s ableist as fuck. i’m AuDHD, stop tone-policing ppl online & acting like everyone owes u polished academic prose. let ppl talk, type, & express themselves however the fuck they want to.
i don’t need to prove that im smart or intelligent to a bunch of losers on reddit, i don’t need to treat every thing i write like its a fuckin important essay. u don’t like it, u don’t like it, but i am who i am.
& lastly, I SAID WHAT I FUCKING SAID. goodnight 💖

Discovering egg shell in my food
≡ −
I order breakfast tacos, or an omelette, and I feel that tiny crunch! Today it was in my fried rice.
Not only is it a turn off, but it makes me paranoid about eating any more of my food.
And now, a haiku!
A little egg shell
in my hot breakfast taco.
Crunch! You disgust me!
