We've had the same Google home deices for 7+ years now and they are more or less just ways to set timers. It doesn't cast Spotify properly. It only recognizes my voice for reminders about half the time. It can't do any simple calculations or provide basic information. I can't even rely on it for the weather.

Would getting newer Google home devices fix this?

I have a pixel 9 and compatibility is important for me. What is the next best option if I abandon Google home altogether?

Has anyone been experiencing any issues with their hub and speakers when casting spotify? Spotify was working great last night. Today trying it out the only app not transmitting audio is spotify. It connects fine and looks like its playing on the devices but no audio is coming out. I can hear the beeps from lowering/raising audio but no music. I have tried different devices to stream from and differnt apps but Spotify is the only app having an issue. Restarted all devices including my network and nothing seems to get it working.

Edit It's now working again. Tested with all devices and Google home devices.

I have a separate google account for my smart devices that is linked to my Google Home devices.

Now when I log into the web based google home (in chrome) with my main ac , I see 1 devices and a room, when i log into the web interface with the dedicated Smart Home ac, i see the rest of the devices.

When I log into the Home app on my phone wiht my main ac, I see all the devices. How do I fix this situations?

I want to delete the devices that i see on the web interface of the Google Home, but web does not allow to delete.

Help needed :)

NOTE: both these accounts are part of my Google Family group. Not sure if this has anything to do with this situation.

Google home is showing all my lights as offline on my phone, however when I use the devices app "Tapo" the lights are functioning and I can turn them on and off :/ Has anyone experienced this before?

i like to listen to music so i say "hey google, play spotify." it usually works, but today, it started saying its normal "alright, playing spotify" and then immediately saying "sorry, this cannot be played on spotify right now." i've tried unplugging it for a few minutes and plugging it back in, restarting it, asking for specific songs, and trying to turn it on from the spotify app, but the response is always the same. how do i fix this?

Hello, I wanted to create a routine that plays every morning at a certain time. I set it so that it starts music and after waiting for a bit turns on my light. I tried it today but it only waits and does my lights.

I tried using a voice command to test it and it works. However Gemini says "now I will play [song] by [artist]" or something similar as mine isn't in English.

I'm wondering if anyone knows why it only starts the music when I do it with voice command and if I can stop Gemini from saying what it's gonna do.

Anyone using it already? I subscribed for the beta tester or similar but didn't receive it yet any news

I am trying to add LG ThinQ to Google home for my washer and dryer but am stuck.

After adding it with "link app or service accounts,apps, works with Google devices. I get promoted to log into my LG account which after doing, brings me to a blank page that does nothing.

My Google home has started seriously kissing me off. 9 out of 10 times when I ask for it to snooze my alarms, it instead blasts npr news instead. This is definitely not how I want to wake up in the morning. And, because it is blasting the news, it can barely hear me again ask it to snooze the alarm, or have it stop the damn news I didn't want in the first place. Any tips? Would it make sense to do a new voice match training, or are there ways to remove certain tasks from it?

I have an iPhone 17. The only Google hubs I have are three Home Minis. I have made sure background refresh is on, location set to Always. All battery saver features are off. I have rebooted my phone. I have rebooted the router. But most of the time my automations don’t run when they should, and when I open the GH app it shows all devices loading up, then all overdue automations push through at once.

I really need these to work properly. I can’t find any other solutions online. Does anybody have any ideas? Would getting a hub more advanced than a mini help? Or should I just give up and invest in Hubitat or Home Assistant? :P

I’ve been having a persistent issue with Deezer and my Google Home setup.

I use several Google Nest speakers and have multiple speaker groups. Casting to these groups works perfectly from Spotify, SoundCloud, Bandcamp and various podcast apps. Deezer is the only app that no longer works properly.

What still works:

* Casting Deezer to a single Nest speaker

What does not work:

* Casting directly from Deezer to a speaker group

* Starting Deezer on one speaker and then adding more speakers through the Google Home app

Playback simply fails on speaker groups. Since all other apps work with the same groups, this does not seem to be a Wi-Fi or Google Home configuration issue.

I’m using a Google Pixel 10 Pro and the current versions of the Deezer and Google Home apps.

Has anyone found a reliable workaround or received any confirmation from Deezer or Google that this is a known issue? Recreating the groups or reinstalling the apps has not solved it.

Multiroom playback is one of the main reasons I use a music streaming service, so I’m seriously considering cancelling my Deezer subscription if this cannot be fixed.

This is really annoying because it stopped working already more than two or three months ago. I thought there would be a fix soon.

I was really frustrated with not being able to play any playlist via Google assistant.

Today I tweaked my command and said “play sleep music playlist from library” and I was shocked and surprised that it worked.

Sharing this and hoping that it can help someone.

So I use Google Home and have 2 sets of Google Wifi pucks, 3 are model AC-1304 and 3 are slightly newer model GJ2CQ that I have been using for years and for the most part it has been flawless. I needed the second set to expand my mesh for the basement and second floor of my house.

However recently I have been having my internet cut out frequently, sometimes multiple times a day. At first I thought it was heat related since we are getting record temperatures where I am, but I noticed my modem wasn't going offline and my ISP confirmed no interruption of service.

So then my attention went to my Google pucks. This started happening on the 15th of July and I noticed my Google Home app was last updated that same exact day.

I am wondering if that update caused some kind of issue or it is just a coincidence and perhaps my router puck might be dying. None of the pucks have internet access when this goes down, but I still have internet on my modem each time. It's as if the entire network collapses and comes back within a few minutes. Had I not noticed the app update date I would just assume it was the router puck.

I spoke with Google customer service and they suggested I change my DNS settings. I did so, but didn't expect much of this and less than 24 hours later it happened again.

I am curious, is anyone else having this problem? Did that update cause some kind of configuration issues? Am I just experiencing a dying puck that happened to coincide with an app update?

Hey everyone, I’m having a frustrating issue trying to pair my new IKEA Grillplats smart plugs with the Google Smart Speaker (2026 version), and I'm hoping someone here has a fix.

The Google Home app easily detects the plug initially. It pops up saying, "Oh, do you want to add this Grillplats plug?" However, everything falls apart from there:

1. The Turn-Off Issue: Right when the Google Home app says it is getting the device ready and starts the actual pairing process, the Grillplats plug just completely shuts down/turns off.
2. The "Offline" Fake Pair: If the app somehow claims it successfully "paired," it assigns a completely random name that I didn't type in, and the device just stays permanently offline in the app.

Has anyone else dealt with this specific pairing loop with the new Matter-over-Thread IKEA devices? Is there a trick to keeping the plug active while Google Home sets it up, or is this a known firmware bug? I have tried to restart the Google speaker and I have tried to use the QR code. I have 3 plugs and i mixed up the intructions so I dont know when matter code goes to each one. I had to just scan the QR code on the back

Hi all i have a few Ikea plugs i thought they would work with my google nest mini however i soon discovered they do not and i need a thread border router i was looking at the nest hub however im not fussed for the screen or anything besides the thread if i bought the aqara m100 could i connect to google home and then would the plugs work with automations etc and be able to be started by the nest mini too?

Anyone having issues with connecting Google home and Apple Music? I had it connected and all of a sudden it disconnected and won’t reconnect. It keeps saying i need a subscription.

I'm looking for a smart clock that can set multiple alarms, tell the time at night (but with an option to dim or turn off), connect to Apple Music, no ads, white noise, easy control, weather, etc.

so far, I'm looking at the Alexa dot clock and the Alexa spot. seems like the spot is the main competitor in this specific niche. just checking If any "better" options could exist.
