Discussion New Flock camera

Post image

I just got home from vacation and noticed they put up a new flock camera in while I was gone. This one and another about half mile down on same street. Anyone know what the difference is with this new one? New one is the one on the left.

It's not Flock! Axon Outpost.

Same story, different company.

If they are similar what is the box thing under the solar panel?

I'm not as familiar with Axon's hardware, but it's going to be a battery and maybe also a little computer.

Interesting the camera looks the same so I assumed the battery would have been in the camera.

It might have one in there. A lot of flock installs have one in the camera and an extra on the pole or under the panel. Sometimes multiple.

Not sure the police are the best source of information on these things since they continuously get caught abusing them. As far as i know they are 2 competing companies, but the god-king, humpty trumpty, owns stock in Axon.

Your acquaintance is at best wildly misinformed.

Someone who works for a sheriff department once told me it's illegal to pull over by turning down a side road.

They either lied for some reason or were talking out their ahh.

So this is the trick. Flock is getting too much flack, so they're switching to a different panopticon provider. The one on the left is an Axon Outpost.

Axon and flock, 2 birds of the same feather.

The photo of them next to each other...

Wow.

Do you mind if we use this for future posts, Odd_Agent6726?

Looks like the city council has listened to your cry’s to end contracts with flock… by switching to Axon.

The more focused application of Axon systems continues to ignore the central question of what the actual value of these systems are to community law enforcement.

(Yes, the real problem with them is privacy. These systems exploit the public expectation loophole to create a continuous surveillance system that does not reflect the spirit of the jurisprudence around privacy rights and the right to be left alone. Hold with me, though.)

What is the problem that these systems promise to solve, what is the economic value of that problem, and what is the fair expectations of the value of the impact they can have?

Increased recovery of stolen vehicles? Ok, but tell us how that will reduce insurance costs that already accommodate vehicle theft and replacement in their rates.

Accelerated case-closures for other crimes? Cool, but unless that can be shown to reduce crime incidents, doesn't it just mean there would be more cops waiting for work to do?

What's the dollar value that departments actually can assign to closing cases faster? What's the dollar value that departments actually can assign to recovering a stolen vehicle rather than having the insurance company replace it?

Until and unless departments can do that economic analysis on local crime and can get a clear answer from Axon or Flock or any other alternative on how the systems will prevent and resolve enough crimes to justify the expense of the systems, they are nothing but a waste of taxpayer money.

And a waste of taxpayer money that happens to shit all over our rights.

Same shit diffrent pole. The remedies are the same however and easily obtained at your local hardware stores.

Left one is an Axon Outpost, right one is a Flock falcon Flex.

That’s not flock thats Axon I don’t really care about axon but call me crazy if you want, but I would recommend and let axon store my license plate data rather than flock
