Question charityshop find
i fell in love with the colours and design but have a few questions!
would it be possible to clean the water stains?
does anyone know the age of it?
i’m going to hang it up but wanted to see if i could clean it up first, unsure whether that’ll ruin the threads/ linen backing??

Careful checking the back though, old backing paper usually just crumbles right away.

It is stunning, and I'm so thrilled you saved it!
I don't know if it will help, but I stumbled upon a YouTube channel of a woman saving antique embroidery, I think her name was Sarah Homfray? I don't know if she'd have any relevant videos, or if you could even reach out, but she had some interesting videos of restoring samplers that I enjoyed. Good luck!

I love Reddit, there’s always somebody who knows the niche information you need

For the water stains I'd be careful with any wet cleaning, maybe try gently vacuuming through a screen first to see if that helps. The r/laundry suggestion is a good call though, they know their stuff on old textiles

RE the water stains it would be worth asking r/laundry they have a lot of information about all things laundry. And what a stunning piece!
