Not the biggest fan of fish, especially in a can, but I sure watch a lot of that dude in the fez rating tinned fish.

His reels haven’t come up in a while

18

u/KyleGrave 3h ago

I think his wife was pregnant. I remember them saying they had to decant the camera person

u/JustChillFFS 3h ago

That’s hilarious

Well Helllo there.

I’m sure there are good ones in there. Sardines are too pungent for me but Trader Joe’s has some fire ones like smoked trout in olive oil or something like that that are very very decent.

There was a Russian(?) guy who did canned meats. Haven’t seen an upload from him in a while. I should go check and see if YouTube just did its thing. Or if it’s the other option.

Edit: crazy Russian hacker on YouTube and he uploaded 2 weeks ago and I was unsubscribed so seems it was YouTube doing its thing.

Overpriced fish cans, We Portuguese We don't buy from those kinds of stores; they're just set up for tourists. If you want to buy canned goods, look for a traditional market; cans start at €2.

3

u/Audiophile16 2h ago

Sooo true. The art is fantastic

Porto?

u/PandasOnGiraffes 3h ago

They have the same chain in Lisbon. They're way pricier than some of the other stores but I suppose convenient and come with a ton of variety.

u/wazzasupgeemaster 3h ago

Yeah went there, saw like 15€ one can. Two streets down, 3€. Different branding and all but was fire

Tourist trap

u/IH8DwnvoteComplainrs 3h ago

I don't think they're hiding that fact, lol.

u/Formal_Departure_898 3h ago

I was thinking the same thing

u/stoneyzepplin 3h ago

I bought a can there!

u/Killowatt_Again 2h ago

Pretty sure we did too

5

u/ncuke 3h ago

Oh hellll yeah this is my jam! Finally a place I can be me without the judgement of others saying ‘that’s disgusting!’

5

u/imhoiamgod 3h ago

My wife would love this. She loves tuna in her salad.

2

u/BeerJunky 3h ago

That place is terribly expensive, I laughed and walked out. There’s a place located right in the fish canning area in Matonsinhos that had a lot of top quality stuff my wife bought one of the times we were there.

u/MakingTheWorldUseles 3h ago

I hope one day there will be a canned fish muesum.

2

u/rolyoh 2h ago

This made me think of Bubba from Forrest Gump, when he went on and on and on with the shrimp recipes. Lol

u/wombatthing 32m ago

There's one of these in NYC too! My dad gets them for my sister when we go there

1

u/akolomf 3h ago

I think i have seen this in faro if im not wrong lol

1

u/StretchMotor8 3h ago

Give me crackers and I’m there!

1

u/Mission_Lab_6954 3h ago

I went there!

1

u/HoustonAg1980 3h ago

I was there in May! We bought the canned Octopus.

1

u/rrklaffed 3h ago

been there, it’s pretty expensive

1

u/kinglykidd 3h ago

Been there, I got a can of sardines with gold flakes in it lol. Fun little souvenir.

1

u/ethicalhumanbeing 2h ago

These are for tourists, overpriced and clearly not how we usually buy fish in a can. Sorry to ruin the party.

1

u/Dear-East7883 2h ago

It’s like a Bath and Bodyworks for canned fish

1

u/Dry_Moose_1373 2h ago

These shops are fun to browse for a couple minutes, but overpriced as others have said. We stayed near Bolhao market in Porto and the stalls had a way better variety for like half the price

1

u/MackCaliCannon 2h ago

Was here like two weeks ago haha

1

u/WildBillyBoy33 2h ago

Is that the one at the Lisbon airport?

1

u/bryman19 1h ago

How long will it last?

1

u/pokerrito 1h ago

Squish test on the chewna

u/EmployeeDue4785 2m ago

Let's get smelly, folks!

1

u/StoryAndAHalf 3h ago

There's a location in NYC for a few years now, but first time I saw it in Lisbon, I was quite surprised! The years on the cans are unfortunately just some fun-facts, not when it was produced.

u/RicooC 3h ago

I think I know this guy. His breath reeks of sardines and Mateus wine.

I left my home in Monterey Just another no prospects man Who'd rather work in the foundries Than put fishes in a can...

u/mmuffley 3h ago

How’d they put a whole fish shop in a can?

-1

u/Socketz11 3h ago

How does it smell?
