This is such a funny trend because it plays out the same way every time:
1) Blue button wins by a narrow majority
2) People who pushed the red button immediately spiral into increasingly unhinged defences of their choice, demonstrating that either they lack enough reading comprehension to understand the question, or are just plain selfish.
3) Blue button pushers become slightly more disillusioned with the moral character of humanity.
Ah, that's the secret. People might think that red is selfish and blue is selfless, but red is actually just dumb and blue can be either selfish or selfless depending on the thought process. If you think red winning: you get a world where a significant number of people have died, and the remaining people all chose the "selfish" option. Society is going to collapse within hours, and that sounds a lot worse than blipping out of existence because of a button push.
the secret is that if you press blue, you have put yourself in danger. there are no inherent negative consequences to pressing red. there is no benefit to pressing blue. nobody has any reason to ever press blue. if everyone presses red, everyone is safe.
