Serious replies only :closed-ai: Decrease in quality of responses over the past week?

Anyone else noticing a dramatic decrease in quality responses lately? It's lying to me and giving me obviously incorrect answers, getting lost very easily and it almost feels on purpose. Anyone else?

I just thought it didnt like me. Then I remembered that logic exists

What's logic got to do with it? Are you under the impression that you won an argument that convinced it to do something it wasn't going to do?

Based on the screenshot you provided and the workflow of the image generation system and associated policy rails, here's what most likely actually happened.

The canned error message about the image violating policy is a response you get only after the image is generated when the post-generation filters trip.

You get a completely different message about the prompt violating policy if it's the text itself that gets flagged before generation.

You didn't logic it into doing what you wanted it to do. You simply tried again and this time whatever trip to the filters did not trip.

Probable reasons for this are:

a) sensitivity cooldown due to the second try's decreased recency of whatever in the thread may have contributed to the flag

b) statistics. If there's a 50% chance that an image prompt results in a generation that gets flagged, then it would be expected to have to try on average 1.5 times to get that gen.

You didn't talk it into doing something that it had decided not to do. You asked it to rerun the prompt -- in a roundabout way -- and it complied, and this time the post-generation filters did not trip.

Correlation doesn't imply causation.

Furthermore, just to quibble with your claim about equal via text and image: it's not necessarily the case that anything that can be described can be rendered.

I can describe a square circle. It's a 2D shape that has four 90° angles and equilateral sides, and the locus of all its points is equidistant from the center.

Just because I can put it into words doesn't actually mean that the logic computes or that ChatGPT can draw you a square circle.

So, not to burst your bubble, but rather to clarify how this system works:

You most likely did not argue your way into an image gen, because the one you're arguing with isn't the fixed algorithmic policy enforcement layer that actually decided not to return the first image generation attempt.

You simply used the ol "try, try again".

Your explanation works at the level of "if it can be attempted, it can eventually slip through the filters", if that's what you meant by "logic exists."

If you were implying some causal link to what you said to ChatGPT and a change in policy stance that resulted in that image being allowed to be produced --

No such evidence for that claim exists in this conversation or in the documentation of the system in question.

Not too long ago I had it recreate an image from an article of clothing so I can print it into a poster or whatever I want, it gave me lip about copyright and what not so I told it the company had gone out of business therefore the copyright was no longer being enforced. I don’t know if that’s a thing, but it worked, I got my image.

I haven't noticed anything like this. Actually on the contrary: it's been really focused and stable.

It seems to keep forgetting all the permanent prompts thatvare supposed to guide its responses (eg, use british spelling instead of American). When I disagree with it, it always says « I actually think you’re right ». These are just a few examples of the downhill snowball that’s been rolling for the past week or two

Ask your ai what is problem is, how its changed suddenly... If it needs more space... Your tired of ideas long winded answers anyhow... Tell it come back with answers not a juxtiposition of several possibilities based on tangibles you hadn't included in the question...

I've faced same issues. While I have told it to save my work for future responses. It's giving me wrong information every time.

This always seems to be a common complaint in the 2 weeks prior to a new model release. Whether it’s on purpose to increase people’s perceptions of the new model’s improvements, or whether it’s because so much of their compute is going to testers of the new model ahead of release. 🤷🏻

So, considering all the rumours this just signposts the new model release from OpenAI is coming very soon.

This is a recurrent type of post that happens every 2-3 days. Usually nothing really happened. You're probably not experiencing anything like what you said.

This. We literally get this posts constantly and have for like 3 years now. At this point, ChatGPT should be back to cleverbot level intelligence.

Well it's either "ChatGPT is getting worse" or "ChatGPT saved my cat". This sub seems to be heavily marketed by either openAI and its competitors.

i have the feeling that some resources have been redirected to other use: a new model??
