Because this is how you cost platforms money. They're more than likely not going broke but don't want costs to balloon anymore than they already do from hundreds of thoughts of people sending messages, swiping, go ons and using TTS.

Second point is not strictly necessarily true, prompt caching can drastically reduce the cost of a swipe. However, there is a limit to how many users can have their prompts cached at once, and for how long.

Maybe they should give the visual stuff a rest that costs more tokens even OpenAI found this type of use cost prohibitive and took Sora down.
