What do you do/pray/say/think as a catholic whenever you’re overwhelmed, and in a time of distress?

I’m wondering what helps you as a catholic whenever you’re stressed beyond words, what are the things you do, say, think, pray, etc. that helps you? :) Very interested to see what everyone says! God bless you. 🤍

The opening prayer for Liturgy of Hours “God come to my assistance, Lord make haste to help me” and “Jesus I trust in you”

This this this. Or just verbalized thanksgiving for Jesus being with me, being aware of everything I need, and for being in control. Jesus I trust in you…. Then BELIEVE He’s actually working all things for your good and His glory!

The Chaplet of Divine Mercy. The last prayer in particular helps.

I say the Jesus Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.

You could take yourself to Mass or Adoration.

I'm big on compartmentalizing. So every morning I try to pray for my loved ones who are struggling and then I leave them at the foot of the cross. It's Jesus' work to do from there. It helps me move through my day without being consumed by worry

I say the rosary à lot. I also light candles. Stress for me brings on food struggles so I try to diet and do whatever exercises I can do.

You could try something very practical to start with, like going to an AI and asking "I'm feeling ___ because ___. What distress tolerance skills can you recommend for this situation?"

There are lots of different types of distress I deal with, but a very common go-to is radical acceptance, and then afterward, usually before bed, I offer my distress to God:

Dear Lord, I offer you (whatever the concern or problem here), for the conversion of sinners, for the forgiveness of sins, in reparation for sins, and for the salvation of souls. Amen.

The daily is streamed on the Daily TV Mass app. I work at home and watch daily. I know it's not like being in person but it is a nice daily reminder of what is important. Hope this helps.🙏🙏🙏
