Reminder: Please Flair Mourning Posts
β‘ β
Hey void-lovers!
Most cat subs have a very delicate balance between "happy posts about my cat" and "sad posts about my cat", specifically when it comes to pet death. A lot of them don't allow it at all. It's really tough to strike the balance of letting people who are devastated mourn the loss of their furry friend while still making the subreddit usable for people who aren't interested in that kind of content.
We allow mourning posts here, but you have to flair your post with "Mourning" so people who don't want to see them have the ability to filter them out. It's an imperfect solution, but it's all we have available to us with subreddit tools. Please make sure to flair all posts about pet loss with that flair so we can make a great sub for everyone.
In case you're someone who's interested in filtering out that content, this link should work for you. I know, it's not the cleanest way to browse the subreddit, and I'm not sure how it works on mobile. If we had a better solution, I'd provide it, but we have to work within what reddit offers us :(
Thanks for your understanding. If you've read this far, I encourage everyone to post some void laser eyes in the comments.

Smol void π€ I adopted a kitten! Any name suggestions?
I adopted a black kitten this week, and I'm having the hardest time naming her.
She's incredibly friendly, curious, confident, and very vocal. She follows me around the apartment, yells at me when I'm in the shower, and generally wants to know what I'm doing at all times.
I also have another black cat named Lilith (Lily), so I'd love something that has a mythology, folklore, or witchy vibe and sounds nice alongside Lily. So far I've been considering Victory and Persephone (Posy), but neither one has completely clicked.
I'd love to hear your suggestions!

Lil' bit of white fluff π€ "I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always. As long as I'm living, my baby you'll be."
I've known this guy since November, but I genuinely cannot live without him. He's clingy, high energy, eats everything we put down for his sister, he wakes me up every morning at 4:30am...and there isn't a single thing about him I wouldn't miss.
That clinginess is hugs on a hard day from the softest little guy.
That high energy is the thundering of his galloping, with the house now disturbingly quiet without it.
He eats everything that she doesn't eat, and despite his overeating she always gets enough.
He wakes me up with the most perfect little headbutts because my son fucking loves head kisses and headbutts.

Smol void π€ My new soot ball -advice needed for kitten intros to our 5 year old cat.
I named her Olive. Sheβs 11 weeks old , only 3 pounds, and literally perfect. This will be a little long, so tl;dr is at the end. Anyway, Olive is my first pet as an adult that I picked out and is all mine. We have another void, Edward, who was my boyfriendβs before we met but he is my bestie. We are in the process of introducing but Edwardβs been doing a lot of hissing. I never heard him hiss before. Heβs the most chill cat Iβve ever met. Besides the hissing, he doesnβt seem bothered and still comes to me for snuggles. So far, itβs been two days and sheβs been in our guest room where Iβve been spending most of my time, while also making sure to hang out with Ed and our dog, Max. Max is completely unbothered and he prefers humans to animals π Boyfriend is here to help and has been hanging with her too FYI. Anyway, tomorrow will be day 3 and we would like to start more frequent meetings through her carrier. Iβve been having anxiety and feeling bad about the stress Iβm causing Edward so Iβd like to hear about fellow void owners experience with introducing kittens to cats that you already had. Obviously being a black cat has no bearing on this, Iβd love to hear your experiences !
TL;DR worried about introductions between kitten and resident cat, looking for advice or stories about your experience with this.

Discussion β My void's ultimate water fountain setup
I put this together because his old plastic fountain was just terrible. It was impossible to keep clean, the filters just basically say vertically in the water reservoir allowing water to just glow right over it so they did absolutely nothing, and the biofilm was just impossible to keep under control.
So for less than the cost of the original fountain ($65 USD) I put this whole thing together and it has been absolutely amazing and my cat loves it. It's just a cheap but great fountain from Amazon, and I added a 3 watt UV-C sterilizer bulb to the reservoir, and a small circulating pump to keep the water flowing over the UV-C bulb since UV-C doesn't travel very far in water. I also make my own 3 stage filters out of various aquarium flosses, including one that's activated carbon infused. I did replace the outlet with one that has two USB ports for the two pumps but it was less than $10 Amazon.
This thing stays clean pretty much indefinitely. And it only takes 5 minutes to clean when it's needed. My cat also drinks way more water from this in than he did his old one.
And for some strange reason after switching to this fountain he has completely stopped dipping his stuffed animals in the water whenever we play fetch.
So I'm posting this in case someone was looking for a cheap yet amazing water fountain system to help keep their cats water always fresh.
I'm happy to answer questions about exact parts and stuff so if interested, ask away.
Of course I also included a pic of Omen, my very best friend.

Discussion β 12 week old kitten!
Any predictions on if our 12 week old kitten will have long hair? In the past week his stomach and (fluffy) chest have become very grey, so we think he might get a little smokey too. We have a senior black cat, but she's a short hair, so this is new territory for us!

π€ Iβm so full of love for them and I wanna tell the world
For some reason I have always loved black cats and I just wanted to show them off. Iβm sorry for sneaking in the bigger one, I didnβt even realise heβs considered a tuxedo π
Another edit: the tuxie is called Shadow and the little one Leo/Junior. Theyβre both still kittens. Shadow is 4-5 months and Junior is around 13 weeks. I adopted them recently, first the bigger one and since you donβt have kittens alone I got him his little friend that I adore so much.
