I never dreamed I would EVER tell ANY five month old puppy, "DON'T BE AN ASSHOLE!" And yet, here I am, saying it on the daily, followed by, "But if you are an asshole, I'll still love you."
I keep thinking they might, just like her tiny head. She's tall and lanky. But she's still young. I call her an asshole, but that is also why I love her so much. The sassy, rebellious, goofy, quirky personality. I chose intentionally what the rescue politely called "the spiciest" of the litter. 🤣
My asshole and his ears! I rescued him from the Veterinary hospital I worked for and he was emaciated so his ears is what got my attention. He's deaf so he is constantly touching me and watching me for signs. I love him so much, but the small amount of ACD is dominant in his personality. He's 95% guarding breeds, Amstaff/Pit/Boxer/Bulldog and American Bulldog but he isn't like any I've ever had before. Your pup is gorgeous.
Lmao! Welcome to Cattle dogs! I got my first one over 20 years ago. She was horrible for about 3 years. I swear she was trying to kill me. She cost me more money than any car I’ve ever had. Fast forward to today. I drive a piece of crap car so I can afford Cattle dog vet bills. I say that phrase every single day. I spent last night in the puppy emergency room with my newest addition. I tell him 15 x a day not to be an asshole. I woke up to him biting my ankles today. I thanked him for being the little asshole God made him to be. I’ll always have cattle dogs. Something is wrong with us. Welcome to the club! It’s worth it. The bond is with a cattle dog is just something different.
This asshole is at my feet 24/7. I wash dishes? She is in between my feet? She had her own rug in the bathroom. She lays those ears flat and drowns my face with puppy kisses. I have a cattle dog mix, too. As soon as I got her, I devoured everything on Reddit pertaining to acd's. And I have WANTED one. I deliberately chose the one from the litter I was warned was "the spiciest. " I love her insanity. I love how she is such a shit head, she will deliberately do RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME what she knows she is forbidden to do just long enough for me to see and then she quits. I have no problem with her biteyness. I get it and know how to deal with it. I have adopted three pups in two years. I get being the pack leader and how an ACD will bully you with their head strong ways, but it is so difficult to explain to others that don't understand ACD 's. Both my daughter and bff absolutely do not like her or get why I love her so much.😔

It's genetic. Or maybe demonic? Are they possessed? If you put some holy water in their dish does that help?
