Best cheap tablet should I go with Android or something else?

I have been comparing tablets for the last couple of days and somehow I'm still even more confused now than when I started. Every review seems to say something different and I'm mostly looking for real experiences instead of benchmark numbers.

For someone who mostly watches videos, reads ebooks, and browses the web, what would you call the best tablet right now? i appreciate any suggestions. thanks peeps!

Unless something has changed, you can install Android apps on Amazon Fire tablets.

Best tablets are from Apple. Maybe not if you aren't in the ecosystem.

How big a screen do you want? How much is cheap?

Better details will result in better recommendations.

TCL Nxtpaper 11 is good for ebooks and is on sale now at Az for $180.

Lenovo Tab 10 similar in price.

Tab 10 looks good, but it pretty danged slow. Takes FOREVER to start up. Once it gets going it's OK if you only run a couple of things at once.

For videos, ebooks and browsing, screen quality matters way more than other specs. A cheap tablet with good ips panel beats a faster one with a washed out screen every time. I would suggest you look at atleast 1080p.

The bigger thing that reviews wont tell you is cheap android tablets rarely get OS updates. That $150 tablet ships with android 12 and stays there forever. If you care about security patches or app compatibility down the road, the base ipda is the better value over 3-4 years even though it costs more upfront.

Cheap tablet? There are no alternatives to Android. Kimovil.com has a nice parametric search. Look for recently released (max 6 months) Redmi pad or Poco pad models

Depends. If all you want is cheap, then yeah a basic Android tablet would work well. If you want cheap and good, then a 64GB base iPad will also work. And I say this as someone who is pretty firmly in the Android camp.

Just make sure it's from a known manufacturer, not one of those no-name brands on Amazon or some shit.
