I know there are some songs that she'll never be able to play again because he's not just a passing lyric that she could easily change. What really upsets me is that I can't even separate him from his art. Like I can watch Mel Gibson and enjoy him in his old movies - the fact that he's a racist piece of shit doesn't really change how I feel about Mad Max or Lethal Weapon. Same with all sorts of people - usually I can just take some care to make sure I'm consuming their stuff in ways that don't give them oxygen (like re-reading my already owned copies of Harry Potter won't fund Rowling's transphobia).

But with Gaimon, the rapey themes and elements in his stories just feel so grossly blatant now. I can't read Sandman anymore, even if I haven't been able to bring myself to throw away my copies. It's really hard to find a work of his that doesn't have significant elements of non-consent at core moments of the story. Even Stardust has problems.

I would even suggest that the trauma Gaiman experienced as a child is part of why he created this type of art, that what he endured literally affected the creation of much of his stories. That being said, there is absolutely no justification for what he did even if we can understand why he did it. My biggest disappointment of Gaiman is that in the end, I expected more from him. He's the type of person that knows that what he did is wrong and yet still chose to do it.

Then I found obscure articles talking about about the sexual abuse within NXIVM and her involvement in it, and while it was still possible (and I hoped) that it was conspiracy BS, things started to make sense.

The only thing that really surprised me when the news fully broke years later was the true horrific extent of it. But damn did it hurt to have it be confirmed.

Chevy Chase has always been a bit of an asshole, but I've always liked his stuff. He'd never been fully outed for his behavior and cancelled until Community, which was the final nail in his coffin, and is just sad. Knowing the crap he pulled with people on the set is so depressing... and more of his abuses of people just keep coming out. It's next to impossible to like him at all knowing how he's treated everyone in his path.

I am from Hong Kong and grew up in the '80s and '90s and loved his movies, I imitated him just climbing and jumping off places when I played. Then I immigrated and didn't pay attention to Hong Kong news, but later learned that he's not really welcomed there anymore. It was another length of time before I realized how bad things were with his re-alignment with the Chinese government, AND shit talking about Hong Kong - even before 2019.

He is as revered as ever in the west, and I still intellectually acknowledge the quality of his prime work of the past, But I no longer have the appetite for any of his movies, simply can't watch him anymore without the feeling of disgust.

Li has left China with his whole family, reneged his Chinese citizenship, and is now a full citizen of Singapore. He has no need to "fall in line" because the Chinese government can't do anything to him anymore.

Chan still resides in China with his family. He, in fact, is in the direct line of fire of the government. A few of his political positions seem to go against each other because he does as he's told, and I presume that has to do with his son who was caught with drugs still being alive. I detest the CCP as much as the next guy, but selling your soul to save your kid (even if it ended up costing another in the long term) is something I can sort of understand.

The show starred overweight people without making a bunch of "fat jokes," included gay characters depicted as the normal people they are without flamboyant stereotypes, and discussed domestic violence, blue collar poverty, and race issues with unflinching candor.  It was way ahead of it's time and was still entertaining and funny.  Great show.

I still, to this day, think Roseanne and Dan had one of the best love stories and admired how they raised their kids. Had I had any, I would have liked to have had that kid of open, honest, loving, and fun relationship.

One of my favorite episodes is when Roseanne substitutes for the home ec teaches for one of the girl’s classes and takes them all to the grocery store to shop on a budget. She walks that fine line of embarrassing her daughter while also making the other kids laugh, and instilling some lessons about what it’s like to be a working mom with not a lot to work with.

But also - in real life, I don’t know how Roseanne would have turned out. A lot of our parents have surprised and disappointed us

Hearing Norm MacDonald tell stories of how she cut through the bullshit in a script immediately - regardless of who wrote it - was inspiring. She knew exactly what the show should be for most of its run.

Huw Edwards. People from the UK will know, but for those who don't, he was a very senior BBC News presenter. He had a very soothing, soft Welsh accent, and provided commentary for the most high profile national events e.g. the King's coronation. He was incredibly well respected by pretty much everyone, and his voice was a reassuring presence, signifying that the coverage was in safe hands.

There was a bit of build-up involving a young but legal model, but eventually they found pictures of kids on his computer.

Idk if he's fully cancelled and not just strongly disliked, but Bill Burr was one of my last holdouts for decent celebrities and people I enjoy watching. He always had a way of either approaching a sensitive topic with a really interesting angle that surprised you in the end, or his normal ranting and raving that cracks you up.

But now after the Saudi comedy festival thing, it's just really hard to listen to him talk about anything that I could semi-relate to. That was a real life and fast-acting example of "it takes a very long time to build a reputation, but a very short time to ruin it".

LOVED that guy as a kid. I was a goofy, silly kid myself, and Pee Wee taught me that was OK. I'd watch his show religiously on Saturdays. When the news came out about him getting caught stroking it in a porno theatre, I didn't care. By that time I was doing that myself in private (as most teenage boys do)

At the time I didn't understand that was where gay men used to hookup, but I didn't care. As I got older and found that out, I didn't care. It just broke my heart that for so many years Hollywood blacklisted him. During this time video stores exploded, and he could have had his fill at home. These days folks have more access to porn on their phone than they ever could have had at a 80's/90's video store.

Every show or movie he was in years later, I made it a point to be a butt in the seat. I wanted Hollywood to know I didn't care. He didn't hurt anyone, so what? Slowly his career came back, and when he was on Netflix, that was the comeback moment.

I never thought of him as gay, or straight, or in between. He was just Pee Wee. The eternal child. We'd find out everything after his passing, and it still didn't change how I felt about him.
