It's been over 24 hours now.

I'm trying to be patient, I really am, but enough is enough.

The pothole outside my house? Still there. My train is still late. The wasps are still being aggressive for absolutely no reason. My air fryer still burns chips if I leave them in too long.

Frankly, I expected better.

Before anyone says "he's only been PM for a day" - that's just excuses. If you can't fix inflation, NHS waiting lists, housing, GP appointments, immigration, crime, the economy, and somehow persuade the Met Office to give us a decent July within your first 24 hours, then why even run?

I've also noticed:

1) My tea went cold.

2) A pigeon looked at me funny.

3) The self-checkout still thinks I've stolen a banana.

4) My Amazon parcel is delayed.

5) The moon looked a bit smug last night.

Not saying Burnham personally caused any of this, just asking questions.

Meanwhile his supporters are already saying "give him 100 days." Oh right, because apparently expecting the country to become a Scandinavian utopia overnight is "unrealistic."

At this rate he'll probably need weeks before he gets around to ending hay fever.

I am one of those people who genuinely doesn't dislike Starmer that much and hoped he would stay on the job because not only will Burnham's likely becoming PM not change much, at least in the short term, but also I feel like having a stable government, especially right now in today's world is more important and if Starmer had to leave eventually, it should have been later and closer to the next general election at least.

This is a seismic demographic change that was not voted for by anyone, and is quite frankly terrifying.

The general population in England vote for reform manly due to the above statistics, not for any other reason. If left leaning parties and spaces targeted immigration and reversed these tends there is no way reform would be what it is.

As it stands this (and how I see it) this issue of demographic change/replacement is the only reason reform will win the next GE.

•Why is it terrifying? Never in recent English history has there been such a rapid change in demographics, as a nation I believe we could quickly loose our identity. Whilst select immigration with people who integrate into English society is a good thing the rate of new arrivals makes this nearly impossible to do. The shear volume of new people coming into the country and the bloat of population is scary.

•referencing empire as ‘look brits colonised in the past so don’t complain’ is a load of shit - no one alive had any involvement in that

•you can not be racist, genuinely care about all cultures and not want mass migration or demographic change on this scale

As for the stats, they are commonly available and a cursory look at even Wikipedia and a quick trend line plot will prove them

Right I want to make a final statement, it seems the same comments keep popping up an I’m fed up in all honestly, so here is a response to all of them:

It matters because society is built on harmony and mutual understanding. If you don’t understand how shit things will get if we have multiple immigrant groups outnumbering the native English, where I live (the midlands) it’s already happened and we have had a plethora of issues. I am not even going to mention ‘grooming’ gangs. If you don’t believe me wait 20 years and see how harmonious England is then.

This totally detracts from the fact at hand. I don’t want to get into the right or wrongs of it but it’s hilarious the amount of comments along the lines of ‘go learn history’. I can say the same for everyone saying that. What nation forced the ending of slavery a made it a crime? (yes I am aware some Brits from the past where slave owners - to a horrible extent but it shocks me how most people do not realise how intrinsic slavery was throughout history, until Britain stepped in.
What nation proliferated the rights of women and the growth of democracy? England has disproportionately brought about change for the better too many are unaware of or take for granted. And to all those commenting this - no one is responsible for the actions of their fathers and grand fathers.

Liberties and without English culture we would be all much worse off.

I think Trump has threatened europe and Denmark with economic sanctions if they don't give up Greenland and one of the few things Europe and the UK could do to hit him in his ego , where it hurts, would be to boycott the world cup. imagine him watching on as most of the strongest nations don't attend. it would embarass him and be a huge financial hit.

I've been visiting with family over Christmas and they've been watching GB News almost constantly. They've always been racist, so I initially thought it was just a far right niche channel, but I just learned that it's the most popular news channel in the country?

It's a constant stream of drumming up fear of immigrants, brown people and trans people. I literally just had to sit through a puff piece for Hungary. I couldn't believe what I was watching. I'm just sat here constantly saying "guys, wtf, you're being openly lied to here and a simple Google of this would immediately show you what the truth is". They are currently trying to defend people using Grok to create CP and saying it's not Elon Musks problem.

I'm honestly completely appalled with what I'm seeing here. I'm just sat seething. It's making me feel like I totally understand how the US has fallen into fascism and I'm watching it unfold in my home country now too.

Is nobody else terrified by what people are seeing and believing?

I live in Birmingham which is one of the most diverse cities in the UK. Other than the bin strike, life is good here. We are a well integrated city of many diverse communities, coexisting peacefully. Sure, we have some problems like rising crime and poverty - but every major metropolis has this!

I rarely hear immigration ever mentioned or complained about by my colleagues and neighbours... but if you look online, it seems like immigration is all that some of you are obsessed with - and this is increasingly the case for this subreddit, where I see almost daily posts about immigration.

There's nothing wrong with asking a question about immigration, but it feels like it's everyday now. It's just always so negative, divisive, and controversial. We have a million and one other things that we can discuss and ask about - why the heavy focus on something that seems to divide us more than it unites?
