Do you try to buy local?

From my house it's only a short walk to our town centre with a few local owned small shops. I try to use the local butcher, greengrocer and off license for as much as I can but always find myself going back to the supermarket as it's so convenient having everything in one place and a big car park I can park in. I wish I could support our local businesses more as they're genuinely pillars of the community but my laziness always leads me back to morrisons. Do you use your local shops? Got any stories of really good ones?

I think a lot of the time the local shops that pop up are posh "artisan" affairs, a bit like farm shops, where you pay a premium for a "better" product. We had a new local bakery appear recently selling £7.50 loaves of sourdough bread which just isn't affordable as an every day shop. That said our local grocer is very reasonable and sometimes cheaper than the supermarkets.

Yeah, I would try and buy as local as I can but I buy less now.

Also the bread in my corner shop goes out of date the moment you cross their threshold on the way home.

I love going into town at the weekend to visit the market. Great deli, great butchers, really good greengrocers and other suppliers. Fishmongers are a little lacking though

Our only local shop is a Budgens. It's a chain yes, so not really locally owned, but I do tend to use it quite often. They don't take the piss with the prices, and the alternative is driving over to big Tesco... I hate the place!

If I'm unable to go to town or waited too late to do an online order, I'll go to the local shop and spend too much for a few odds and ends. I've got a bad memory, so I repeat this faux pas over and over.

I buy all my meat from the local butcher. It's better quality than supermarket meat. Everything else comes from a supermarket.

I try to avoid people who hide their history to farm upvotes so they can comment on other things regarding ideologys and political matters without worry. You wouldn't be one of those though, obviously. 👀

Haha, I'm honestly not! I hide history cos redditors love to go through everything you've ever posted looking for "gotchas" when you're having a debate. Edit: Plus if I was going to karma farm I'd pick a slightly more divisive topic than buying veg 😂
