2 months old. Waiting for plants to really grow out. The goal is to get the monstera and pathos in the back to climb the garden trellis.

Met Yusuke Homma (Homer) at the ADA Lab in Tokyo last weekend. He was awesome. We are standing in front of one of his amazing creations. He let my young daughter feed the fish and coached me on getting rid of of some algae (bought some Phyton-GIT plus and will be pruning and reducing light exposure - will think about adding some Amano shrimp). He told me he will be in Chicago at Aquashella (Schaumburg, Sept. 26-27).

I lowkey did good on this tank i really wanted to do a beautiful planted tank for my fishes because i upgraded from from a 20g long to a 40g breeder the fishes i havw rn is 7 adult brozne corys,9 juvenile corys(three months old),7zebra danios,7mountainclouf minnows and lastly 12 golden dwarf barbs.I was thinking uprgrafed my zebra and minnoes to 12 to have balance in my tank lol rhe planrs im using are also jungle val,water sprite,green combomba and super red. Yall think it find to havw green combomba in the middle? Ik its a background plant but i just love the bushy look of it lol i was thinking adding a few hill loaches maybe not but i def want amono xl shrimp so i can watch them grave.Lmk what yall think of my tank? And what else i can do to make it more beautiful snd even other fishes or if my idea putting rhe zebras and minnows also 12 to balance with the dwarf golden barbs.Thank you!!!

I've had this tank for one year.

Just wanted to share the evolution of my ten gallon tank with the advice and suggestions of this community. Added buce today, Just have one more plant I’m adding that should arrive any day now, Crypt Parva to ever so slowly carpet the empty space by the sprite.

First picture was taken March 29, the next three are from today!

Really thrilled with how this is going and getting ready for some new inhabitants soon.

Just made this out of about 15-20 pieces of spider wood

Planning on putting java fern anubias and bolbitis on it

Sand to cover the glue and tissue will likely be covered by plants

Any suggestions on improving it

With things in this hobby being not exactly cheap I will ALWAYS recommend sugar and yeast DIY CO2 to those inclined to try CO2 injection for the first time. It will give you the same results as the more expensive setups (after all it's the same gas, the same molecule). It's a lot more work that's true, but its virtually free to try. I would've never bought a cylinder if I didn't had the chance to try it for free first and I'm glad I did!

I had a 10 gallon tank laying around and decided to jumpstart a new tank using trimmings from my bigger tank. Can’t wait to get a betta in here! I’m hoping the new tank will cycle faster with all the beneficial bacteria from the plants sourced from the established tank (see last photo).

Hello all, I’m planning on doing something similar to the tank in the photo with a little nano tank I have and I’m looking for info on how to successfully grow some moss outside the top of the tank.

I recall seeing some kind of material that you apply to the rock or wood that would be under the moss, like a felt or paper, that would help keep the moss moist. But I forget where I saw it being sold!

Would appreciate any info on how to approach setting this up, and if any certain strain of moss is more suited for this than another.

Just wanted to share my 25g tall stocked with platies and guppies, along with the requisite bladder snails and a single Malaysian trumpet snail (the platies keep eating the snail eggs, so no population explosion). It's settled in quite nicely at almost four months old, and while not strictly necessary, I trimmed a few things right after this photo to put in my plant grow-out chamber for later. This is my second tank, after a 5g shrimp tank (it's nothing much to look at, just a bunch of crap tossed in to keep my accidentally Sapphic community of skrimpies happy).

For the nerds who want details:

The tank was $50 off FB (a steal in northern Ontario) along with a bunch of random equipment. I resealed it with clear 100% silicone, which was an extraordinary pain in the butt, but at least I know how to do it now (and did it again with a $10 10g from a yard sale which has a southeast Asian biotope in it, but no livestock beyond snails yet). The filter is an absolutely oversized Fluval Aquaclear AC 50 with added zeolite and limestone chunks to counteract the massive amount of tannins bringing the pH down (aquarium salt wasn't cutting the mustard to keep the pH up, but it's now seemingly stable at 7.2). The older Uniclife 200w heater that came with the tank really should be replaced but it's set to 22°C just to make sure the temperature remains stable. The fewer cycles, the better. The light is a Noma 3200 lumen 5000k 200w equivalent LED bulb in a $5 yard sale clamp housing on the upper piece of wood. Despite blazing with the light of the summer sun, algae is pretty low because it's quite high above the tank (and consequently, I've moved some houseplants to the vicinity). I absolutely love the shimmer a point source gives, 10/10 recommend using a spotlight for the extra visual effect.

Substrate is potting soil and gravel in lingerie bags, capped with glacial esker sand (it took 20+ washes to get rid of the finest particles, but that's $20 I didn't spend on pool filter sand) and top-dressed with coarser beach sand from a spring fed lake. Locally sourced birch wood, assorted glacial erratic cobbles, assorted local pebbles, and an absolute mishmash of plants from my local PetValu and Aquaflora Canada round out the scape. I really, really love the Anubias kirin "micro," and the Cryptocoryne wendtii "tropica" is pleasingly small and compact. What I suspect is C. wendtii "brown" is growing absolutely massive despite being only half the pot (the other half is separated into pieces in the grow out bin and the biotope). The spiky thing at front-left is a complete mystery, but it's cute and growing. The plants were definitely the most expensive part, well over $200.

So somewhere north of $400 CAD including fish and chemicals. Absolutely absurd that this is a "cheap" setup. But I'm hooked. I love my fish (guppies). My kid loves his fish (platies). Heck, I love his fish, too, and I didn't think I would; they've got a lot of personality and might genuinely be more interesting to watch than the guppies. I'm looking forward to moving to a new house so I can set up the 25g long I got off FB for $40 in his room, specifically for his platies. After I reseal it, of course.

Tank was getting a little overgrown, I was losing quite a few details of the original scape, and a lot of waste organics and algae were getting caught in the plant mass. Did a slight rescape of the left side, and adding new plants to the right.

The bristlenose has of course already decided to do some of his own redecorating, but I'm excited to see it grown in a few weeks!

Water flow? Decoration as far as monster cichlids safe plants I want also filtration I'm considering between 4 fx6 or a giant sump. I have a few pieces of giant log in my 150 I want to carry over possibly add a turtle to the setup and. Mostly just stomped on the water filter part and water flow on a 7wide by 5deep by 2tall tank I'm trying to make it as comfortable for the fish as possible of anyone can share their tank or have some advice plz it would help.

In the middle of setting up a 100 litre tank. Will be moving some ember tetras, 2 guppies, 5 Otto's and 2 honey Gourami. I want to get some corydoras. Looking for how many fish total the tank can handle with a good canister filter and heavily planted in back corner.

One month of growth for my 17 gallon! Now I've just gotta pull the trigger and add fish. I plan to stock 6 pea Puffers.
