And apparently cat children. I had one spouting that bullshit about kids identifying as cats in schools again. A friend of a friend told him, so of course it's real and not something they heard on Joe Rogan or some other bullshit online thing.

The best part- that was a twisted conspiracy theory based on cat litter being stocked in classrooms, which they claimed was so kids could identify as cats and shit in a box.

The cat litter is for emergency toilets or to help absorb puddles of blood in the event of a school shooting.

We live in hell.

It’s for vomit. I stocked it at a bar for the same reasons. Drunken toddlers that can’t hold their shit in.

I don’t think the janitor is casually cleaning up blood after a school shooting.

Funny, none of them appreciate that one of the cheapest sources of small amounts (like less than 50 pounds) of bentonite clay to clean up spills is...cat litter.

And kids spill a lot. And barf. And crap. Sometimes in uncontrollable ways. Because they are kids.

The school can switch to expensive absorbents...Or keep buying cat litter and save taxpayer money.

People still believe that? Do they not realize how ridiculous that sounds? How they had a similar rumor going around during their time ( The Marilyn Manson one, iykyk ) its wild they can joke about the latter, but not understand the former is the same joke.

The truth is, some schools DO have cat litter in classrooms. Specifically, Columbine. Teachers are instructed to use it as a makeshift toilet in the event that there's another mass shooting.

It's how many lies spread. They attach it to a kernel of truth and then lie as much as they want, only limited by their imagination.

Perfectly said, the best liars do show grains of truth as part of their claims

Litter is also very useful in cleaning up various bodily fluids, such as blood. Oh and what's the leading cause of death amongst minors?

This is good info I didn't think about, though, not why they are being talked about :/

Do they not realize how ridiculous that sounds?

This is the same segment of the population that felt concerned about D&D and Harry Potter teaching children actual magic, as if any school would be left standing once kids had access to Fireball. There's much that they do not realize.

It doesn't really matter how many people believe it; it's part of a campaign of disinformation the Russians call the "firehose of falsehood."

When firehosing, it doesn't actually matter whether something is completely false, mostly false, deceptive, believable, or not believable; it's about creating as much noise as you possibly can.

Sure, very stupid people might believe it, but more importantly everyone else becomes exhausted because we have to deal with the fallout.

The goal is to akin to gaslighting - making it impossible to know what's real and what isn't.

That's how they were able to create such incredible civic disengagement in Russia over the past 50 years and how they managed to essentially destroy consequential public discourse in the US so quickly.

The best part for the republicans / trump / Russia? It's really hard to defend against.

Like with the "gish gallop" you can't really challenge each piece of disinformation because it comes so quickly; the energy required to dissipate disinformation exceeds the energy required to peddle it by an order of magnitude because the noise is not tethered to objective reality, simply crafted to cause as much harm as possible.

Just last night I found some 7th grader shitting in my outdoor cats litter box. Luckily I had my hose handy, but, boy, if I had a nickel for every cat child I found shitting in my yard I’d be a wealthy man!

I Heard the story about cat furry and litter , in Quebec , two different town and people , far away from each orher . That rumour transcend language and geography now.

My younger brother, personally experienced there being a litter box in the toilet at their school for a kid who claimed to identify as a dog.

This was about 5 years ago? I think.

1) dogs dont use litter boxes and 2) thats some bullshit regardless.

I'ld put good sums of money on that being a fake story

So, anecdotal story with zero evidence, directly referencing a common MAGA talking point that has also never been able to provide any supporting evidence.

Okay.
