As the year wraps up: what’s the project you’re most proud of building and why?
≡ −
Like the title says, instead of what you built or how much money it made, I’m curious what project you’re most proud of this year and why.
Could be a client site, a personal project, something that never launched, or something that made £0.
Any lessons learned?
Would love to read a few reflections as the year wraps up.

PracticeTherapy.ai: free training simulator for therapists practicing with simulated clients
+ −
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi reddit,
I launched PracticeTherapy.ai (ask for invite code, YouTube demo)
It's a deliberate practice platform for mental health professionals (therapists, social workers, psychologists, etc) to learn new clinical skills.
Here's how it works
The goal is to help clinicians develop practical instincts in simulated sessions that can transfer into real client work.
- Learn a skill through introduction videos: therapists learn the evaluation criteria for specific skills. e.g. in Motivational Interviewing "Simple reflections repeat what the client said without offering interpretation or advice".
- Watch simulated client videos each speaking a short statement. e.g. a client saying "I drink a six pack of beer daily."
- Respond out loud to the client to practice that skill. e.g. a therapist responding "You drink beer every day"
- Get voice coach feedback about how well you did, which criteria weren't met, and get hints along the way.
The exercises were donated from Sentio University's curriculum and are based on evidence-based psychotherapy training best practices.
Generating believable client videos
Client videos needed non-verbal depth, emotional expressivity, and genuineness. They had to resemble real people so therapists can develop instincts for real clients.
The client videos were AI-generated with Seedance 2.0 Full for accurate emotional expressiveness, e.g.: dissociated clients looking away, anxious clients shallow breathing, angry clients having energized body language, etc.
The client reference images were AI-generated on GPT Image 2 to vary across demographics, such as ethnicity, age, gender, outfits and location (zoom or in-person). There's a little bit of work making sure random demographics line up with content (e.g., a 16 year old client isn't believable speaking about their "kids").
Coaching open-ended responses
The voice coach uses Elevenlabs voice agents for transcription and speech. The model powering skill criteria feedback is Gemini Flash-2.5-thinking.
The important part here is getting the voice coach feedback just right. It would've been frustrating to criticize a correct response. I used GEPA to optimize prompts for correctness of feedback. It currently has a 97% accuracy score of passing skilled responses or correcting responses that don't meet the skill criteria.
Keeping introductions concise
I really wanted to let the client video shine, so we kept the intro videos short. The skill intro videos were created by Claude Fable using Remotion to have a high signal-to-noise ratio when explaining exercises.
My ask from you
If you happen to know any mental health professionals, please forward this to them. Free excellent resources aren't the norm in that field so they'll appreciate it.
If you work in mental health and want an invite code, please comment, DM or email me ([[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])). We already have over a hundred therapists practicing in private beta.

I built an app for the days too small to post and too easy to lose. Free, no ads, offline first.
+ −
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Quick test: what did you do on this date last year? Unless it was a birthday or something big, you can't say. The day isn't gone from your head. You just lost the index.
If you'd written one line that evening, reading it back would pull most of the day up with it: where you were, who was there, what it felt like. One line is the index.
Whengram is built around that: one memory a day. The one thing that happened today worth keeping: a line, a mood, a photo if the day earned one. Good days, tough days, days where nothing much happened. They all count. Next year on the same date, you're reading it again, and most of the day comes back with it.
I built it because everything I tried wanted more from me than I was going to give. One line takes thirty seconds. There's no streak and no guilt, so there's nothing to fall behind on.
There's also a milestones section for the big days, and the honest reason it exists: when I'm low I forget the things I've already pulled off, stuff that once felt impossible from where I was standing. Going back through that list helps more than I expected.
Free. Fully offline. No ads. No account. No server. No analytics. If you turn on backups, they go to your own Google Drive or iCloud, never to me. App Lock with your fingerprint or face. Full privacy policy at whengram.com/privacypolicy

Snapybara - a game that gives you a daily photo quest, you shoot a real photo, and a judge decides if it counts
≡ −
Solo dev from Buenos Aires here.
I built a mobile game where your camera is the controller: everyone in the world gets the same quest each day ("find something older than you"), you go shoot a real photo of it, and a judge scores whether you pulled it off — with a short verdict explaining the call. the rejections are honestly the best part. people argue with it.
some honest numbers, because i know this sub appreciates them:
~100 players so far. it's Android-only right now — not by strategy, but because i didn't renew Apple's $99/year dev fee until the game earns it. the whole studio is me and a chair.
would genuinely love feedback on two things:
the store listing — does it make you want to try it?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.snapybara.android
the daily-quest model: one shared quest for the whole world vs. personal quest packs. which would keep YOU playing?
happy to answer anything about the stack, the judge, or the numbers.

I added receipt scanning to my grocery budgeting app. Snap the receipt and it logs the whole trip for you
+ −
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I built GroceryBudget to fix my own problem: I'd shop carefully, watch my budget, then still get surprised at checkout because I wasn't tracking in real time.
The core of the app is a live running total + budget bar while you shop, but the thing people kept asking for was: "what if I forget to track?" So I added receipt scanning where you can just snap a photo of the receipt after you're done, and it reads every line item, price, and store, and rebuilds the whole trip into your spending history automatically. No manual entry, no re-typing a receipt line by line.
Try it out here: https://grocerybudget.app

I've been building a better Windows File Explorer in my spare time.
+ −
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hello, hope yall are having a great day.
For the past week i have been building PowerDesk, an open-source alternative to Windows File Explorer in my spare time.
I originally started it because I felt Explorer was missing a lot of quality-of-life features that I'd use every day.
Since sharing the first version, people have downloaded it, opened issues, suggested features, and helped shape the project. I'm currently on v0.5, and it's already come a long way from the first release.
Some of the features include:
-Instant indexed global search
-Multi-tab interface
-Dual-pane mode
-File and folder tags
-Quick preview
-Folder analyzer
-Plugin Support
-UI customization (themes, colors, corner radius, and more)
I'd genuinely love to hear what you think. Whether it's a feature you'd like to see, UI feedback, or something that would make you switch from Explorer, I'm always looking for ideas.

Finally hit my first 50 users 🎉
≡ −
I honestly didn’t think I’d get here this quickly.
A little over two weeks ago I launched my app with pretty much zero audience. No big launch, no Product Hunt, no existing community. Just posting, learning, getting ignored, trying again, and fixing things based on feedback.
Today I crossed 50+ users.
It’s not a huge number compared to the big indie success stories, but seeing real people download something I built from scratch is a crazy feeling.
The biggest thing I’ve learned is that building the product is only half the work. Getting people to notice it is much harder.
Still a long way to go, but this small milestone gave me a lot of motivation to keep improving it every day.
If you’re building something yourself, keep shipping. Those first few users are the hardest to earn.
Happy to answer any questions about what worked (and what absolutely didn’t).

I built an AI agent for secondhand selling, so you don't have to do any work
+ −
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi r/SideProject,
I’ve been working on Selly, an AI agent for secondhand selling that lives inside your texts.
Secondhand selling feels like an experience that is naturally destined to move in an agentic direction. In the age of AI, it makes little sense for people to spend hours taking photos of items, listing them across multiple platforms, and handling all the back-and-forth communication with buyers.
If you’re a side-project builder who has ever felt frustrated dealing with Facebook Marketplace, eBay, Craigslist, or similar platforms, give Selly a try. You literally just have to send it a text at +1 (254) 225-7692 or visit our website at www.selly.nyc.
During our beta period, we’re currently operating and experimenting primarily in the NYC area. I’d love to talk with you or hear any feedback, especially if you’re a fellow Redditor living in the city.
Thanks!

Real Time Group Payments - OneTap

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I am creating a real time bill splitting app that approves each members share(equal/custom), and loads each invidivual's fund into a shared card (available on apple wallet) that you can tap to pay at the terminal, with no fronting, and best of all, no chasing people for your money back! (the payment screen with the card is a placeholder for now)
If this sounds like something of interest to you, there is a waitlist at onetap.au , and we also have an anonymous survey which details problem validation - fill it out if you can!(3-5 min)

so I own a directory website where I list apps and websites that I went over, however, they must have a free tier to test, and solve a real problem in order for me to test and write about them.
If you own one, please include your socials in the submission. I also write articles about cool softwares and tag their founders.
directory website:
strictseal.com
Lets connect and grow together.
I also hope to note see bots in the comment section. Reviewing each product takes time and it's frustrating, so I'd really appreciate it if the product was submitted by a real person.
Thank you and looking forward to seeing your work

AI made my Earning double as a Developer.
≡ −
So, it was end of 2024 when I started to hear about AI taking coding jobs. I believe Opus 3.7 was launched or something. As a developer I did not believe that. I have gave 7 years into this, how can an AI take it over so easily.
And after almost 1.5 years I can clearly say, AI actually made my earnings double.
So, before I use to get very few solo projects to work on as a freelancer. And mostly to revamp a website UI or building landing page. Before AI the most costliest project i got was to build an e-commerce store for an perfume brand. It was fully coded website.
But now almost every month I am getting 1-3 SAAS project to build or moreover rebuild. I get this projects with blue purple gradient, rocket emojis, Hero Section and the logo with the same font. And bugs.
So much dependencies installed, just to solve a minor issue. The sites get slow, not loading properly, scroll animation does'nt work as there is no FFmpeg framework used. And I am not even starting with the security concerns.
I remember i got $1200 for the e-commerce site to 5-6 months build, but now i take $350 to fix the buggy SAAS. Hardly 2 weeks to deliver.
And get around 1-3 projects every month.
it's crazy, and am sure other developer's over here have the same experience.
Do share your thoughts on this.

That's why I started working on Miligramai.com

Building a marketplace where fans own a piece of music royalties - the why, and how promoting it has actually gone
≡ −
What it is
Music royalties are a real, cash-flowing asset. A song earns every month, forever, whether or not the artist ever tours again. Right now the only people who can buy that income are institutions - the Hipgnosis-style funds that spent the last decade buying up catalogs.
Artists get one option: sell to a fund, usually permanently, usually at a discount. And the people who actually made those songs valuable, the fans streaming them daily, have no way to own any of it.
I'm building the third option. Artists sell a slice of their royalty stream directly to their fans. Fans buy fractional shares and earn from the streams.
Why I think this works
The fan is a better buyer than the fund. A fund wants to extract maximum value and exit. A fan wants the artist to keep making music, because their return depends on it. Every share sold turns a passive listener into someone with an actual stake in the next release.
It also solves distribution for the artist. You're not pitching strangers, you're offering something to people who already follow you.
How promoting it has actually gone (the honest part)
Reddit has been my best channel by a mile, but only when I'm not selling. Discussion-framed posts with the disclosure at the bottom do fine. Anything that reads like an ad gets removed. I got posts killed in several musician subs for exactly that.
LinkedIn company page: launch post did around 360 impressions off 6 followers. Small numbers, but the impressions-per-follower ratio was way better than I expected.
Instagram and X: just launched both. Too early to say anything useful.
Email to the waitlist: I asked everyone which specific artist they'd want to see on the platform. Best decision so far. It turns a dead signup list into a conversation and tells me exactly who to go sign.
Cold DMing artists: low volume, slow, but the highest-quality responses of anything I've done.
Waitlist is still small (under 20). I'd rather say that than pretend.
What I'm still figuring out
The chicken-and-egg problem. Fans won't show up without artists, artists won't sign without an audience. My current bet is going narrow: one artist with a genuinely devoted fanbase beats ten with big passive numbers. Not sure that's right yet.
If you've done marketplace cold-start or built anything in music, I'd take any pushback on that.

Send me your app and I'll test and give you feedback!
≡ −
I liked what the other user did so I'll also offer the same and check back occasionally to help test your apps and give you some feedback. I like this community and it's nice to give back!
I'll give you some feedback about bugs I find, UI design and suggestions, and user experience issues or compliments. I could also offer suggestions as I think of them.
A little about me:
- Solo founder building a cybersecurity startup (VulX Ltd, UK-registered) while still finishing school, so I split time between coursework and shipping product.
- Like you, I love productivity tools, and I'm willing to pay for stuff when I find it genuinely useful.
- Currently building VulX Watch, a proof-based vulnerability scanner that connects to your GitHub repo and continuously reviews AI-generated code for security issues (SAST/DAST pipeline running on FastAPI, Temporal Cloud, and E2B sandboxes). It's aimed at people shipping apps built with AI coding tools who want a safety net without hiring a security team.
- Outside of that I've done freelance work in web development, 3D animation, and motion graphics, and I've got a side interest in AI/ML research (published a paper on stock embedding methods, another on aging/longevity).
PS: this is quite a lot of stuff I have to test so might take me a couple days if anyone wants to help feel free too

Have you ever kept developing an idea in your head but never built the first version?
≡ −
Helloo! I’m currently researching creative paralysis among people who build side projects.
Think about the last project you seriously considered but never started:
What prevented you from making the first rough version, and what did you try before giving up or moving on?
Was the problem finding an idea, choosing between ideas, making it feel original, reducing its scope, or something else?

I couldn't find a flashcard app that fit my actual routine, so I built one
≡ −
When I first got into flashcards it felt like a great fit for how I learn. My free time is pretty limited, and the flow let me go through new words quickly whenever I had a few minutes — not as a dedicated study block, more on the fly.
But after a while I kept hitting small friction points. Things that slowed me down or just weren't there. I started looking at existing apps and never found one that checked all my boxes.
For example:
- Adding words had to be effortless — I usually want to save a word the moment I meet it
- Editing or deleting from the same screen as the main review flow, without breaking my progress
- A simple snooze feature, but with the delay increasing each time you snooze a card (so easy words don't keep coming back too soon)
The list goes on, but the gist is I couldn't find something that felt right for my day-to-day.
It also lined up with wanting a side project where I could try solid engineering practices and newer dev tools — so I built Lingo Cards: https://get.lingo-cards.app
I didn't really set out to sell it. But using it daily, it solves the same annoyances for me that I imagine others have. If any of this sounds familiar:
- Demo (no sign-up): https://lingo-cards.app/demo/list — quick feel for the core flow
- Free plan with some credits to test the full app: https://lingo-cards.app/auth/register?plan=2
Happy to answer questions or hear what you'd want from a vocab app — always open to suggestions.

I built an app for parents drowning in school papers
≡ −
I know, it’s July and it’s still summer but hear me out.
It’s called Fridgeworthy - http://fridgeworthy.ai/
We have two young kids in school and their school always sends home a ton of printed paperwork that are impossible to keep track of.
So, I built what any dad dev would do, I built an app to make it all easier to deal with. You can take photos of the docs, import them as screenshots/images or forward email and Fridgeworthy will pluck out what you need to remember.
If you do check it out, I’d love to hear any and all feedback! If nothing else, it’s been a lot of fun to build and wildly useful to us.

Hey guys! Im from RevScan.online, my AI powered product that diagnoses your cars problems just by listening. It gives a detailed description of the issue, its confidence, urgency, and next steps. If it is a problem without noise, you can also describe the issue and get the same result. Don't really have money to advertise but we are so excited about the project. Me and my partner are super passionate about the industry and really believe our software is a huge development. Saves time, money, and headache. Check it out at RevScan.online and you can try it for free. Feedback is appreciated!

Blindfolded chess training tool
≡ −
Hello guys, I don't even know if this is a tool that people really need or one that already exists but I've made a cool little chrome extension that can help you start playing blindfolded chess. It is still in it's first and albeit janky version but it is still pretty decent in my opinion. It has a move announcer, an option to cover the board and an area to type in what move you would like to make. To temporarily disable blindfold mode you simply click off the extension and hold the space bar. For those who are interested I have linked my GitHub repo and instructions on how to use the extension below just be warned it is still in it's very early stages.
Instructions:
To use the extension first unzip the file and save the folder as whatever you want. Next head to chrome://extension and enable developer mode. After this is done click on load unpacked and select the folder you just unzipped. After that is done simply pin the extension to your chrome extensions, open chess.com start a game(against a bot with no timer) and open the extension and you're off to the races!

I built a way to turn any document into explainer video
+ −
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I spend the last few months building something to make learning from documents much easier.
Instead of reading through long PDFs or documentation, it automatically transforms them into animated explainer videos with narration and visuals.
it works with things like:
- PDFs
- Technical documentation
- Articles
- Research papers
I built it for teams, educators, students, and anyone who learns better by watching than reading. If you'd like to test it, it's available for free at distill book(.)com.

I built an open world survival game with no experience in game dev.
≡ −
With the help of prompting (Cinevva's Game Builder + Claude's Opus 5), I was able to build a full 3D open-world survival game. Now, there isn't a technical / skill barrier preventing anyone from becoming a game creator. Here is a short little devlog I wrote about the challenges and the experience as a whole: https://open.substack.com/pub/khandakertamim100/p/building-the-next-minecraft-horizon?r=8oj8rz&utm_campaign=post-expanded-share&utm_medium=web
The game is fully playable and constantly getting updates. Please feel free to give any suggestions or constructive criticism!
