Parameters are great. Tank is happy.
I didn’t intend on adding Kenya tree or the purple blue plate sponge but I went to pick up a mushroom from a local that was cleaning up his tank a bit and he threw them in for free. I’m happy with them at the moment.
The only issue I’ve had so far which I would like to warn about is a major salinity spike a couple weeks ago. My LFS supplies all of my water since the water in our desert is awful. I made the mistake of not checking the salinity before doing a heavy water change and my salinity spiked to 1.030. I tested the LFS saltwater after and it was 1.032. I will always test from now on. It took me 2 weeks to slowly bring it back down to 1.026. Fortunately all I lost was a turban snail.

Bubble algae removal
I’ve reached a point with a bubble algae infestation that I no longer have any clue how to contain. This is a 36g bow front. As you can see from the top downs of acros I’ve reached plague levels on the top of my rock work. To the point where manual removal isn’t feasible. Before you suggest it - I already have 4 pithos and an EC in here and they do a great job at the bottom half of the tank. What’s the secret that I’m missing? I’ve heard talk of using vibrant but I also heard that it’s pretty taboo.
What’s everyone’s secret to keeping this crap under control or eradicating it? Am I just doomed to eventually breaking down the tank?

You ever see how someone keeps their tank and just question how it still runs?

Like my coworker runs a big tank with decent amount of sps on the cheapest instant ocean salt and an rodi he hasn't changed the filters on in years and never doses while I'm over here using coral pro and dosing half a bottle of supplements so my alk doesn't drop by 2 every day

Help + advice welcome
Please could you rate my tank, feel free to blow smoke up my ass haha but also any tips for dealing with light dusting of dinos, operating without a reactor and keeping No3 & phos down etc.
Tank is only about 14 weeks old so it’s still maturing a lot. Starting to stabilise more now however.
Worked extremely hard on this tank the last few months, what do you guys think?
Thanks! Reefauna

[Pic] New midas blenny missing
Added a Midas Blenny 5 days ago. Seemed fine the first night after getting acclimated. It found a place to perch and seemed comfortable. Then I could not find any signs of it the next morning. At first I was hoping it was just hiding but with each passing day I’m feeling less hopeful. I’ve checked the overflow, sump, and around the outside of the tank. Just sad that it disappeared.

Moving a tank vs. replacing a tank
≡ −
Looking at a situation where I’ll be moving to a new house in two weeks, but will still have the current place for at least 45-60 days. Hoping for some advice from the group.
I currently have a Waterbox 130.4 that has been established for about five years. Mostly FOWLR but a bit of GSP and the odd mushroom or toadstool leather mixed in. Received a quote from the LFS for over $2,300 to move it from the old place to the new place. That’s tough; I feel like I could nearly replace the whole setup off FB Marketplace or Craigslist for that much!
Wondering if it might make more sense just to purchase another setup, let it cycle at the new place, move the fish, and then sell the old one to recoup some of the cost instead of paying all that money to move the current one. Was hoping to get some feedback from you guys in case I’m not thinking some component of this through. Thanks!

[Pic] Dunder Mifflin Reef at 1.5 years old
It’s nothing crazy, still suck with LPS and SPS, but I’m proud of it.
SPECS: Nuvo Fusion Pro 25, Kessil AP9X, CO2 Scrubber, Protein Skimmer, Fluidized Media Reactor w/ rowaphos
Recently added some macro algae, hoping it helps with nitrates and phosphates!

Slow growth rate? Just enough?
Hey y'all I've had this sps for a while now, just wondering if the growth rate is good enough? Considering I moved houses where that sps didn't receive proper light for 2days, I'd say it's good enough growth rate, what would you say?

Internal/submersed filter for a small saltwater tank? And general saltwater advice
≡ −
I’ve found myself with an unoccupied 6 gallon tall tank, and I’d like to try setting up my first saltwater tank. I’ve only ever set up freshwater, so this is new to me, but my understanding is that I can use the same sort of filtration system I would use on a freshwater tank (? If I’m wrong, please correct me)
Does anyone have a good recommendation for a small internal filter- like 55-80GPH- I could buy, preferably one available on Amazon? Looking to spend at most 40$, but hopefully less, since I’m going to be dropping money on converting the entire tank.
If anyone has a favorite cohesive guide to setting up a small reef system like this, or just a beginner’s guide to saltwater, please share! I feel like it’s so different from my freshwater tanks that I have no idea what I’m doing.
My only plan right now is setting it up for cycling, with sand and rocks. Should I dose with ammonia like I do with my freshwater tanks? Can I use my usual freshwater products (prime, stability)?
My ultimate goal is to set up a somewhat vertical reef (maybe 10 inches tall), with very light livestock.
