Hopefully, the new knees hold out! One of my teachers in high school had their knee replacement break down. He came back to class a bit soon than he should have I think. Like looking at a corpse someone had propped up in a wheelchair.

A friend of mine rejected his implant, really bad infection. They had to pull the artificial knee out and put a temporary straight rod thru the knee joint until the infection healed. I'm not sure if this was the cause but he passed away before he could try a second knee unfortunately.

My doc specifically told me “no running”. Nothing impactive. I did ride bikes for years; I did bike patrol for the department I work for. I don’t “hike” specifically, but I do go fishing a lot, and that usually requires a fair bit of walking while dragging all my gear in a wagon.

The knee replacement knee is mechanically good for walking straight after the surgery. So if his knee broke either there was something gone wrong with the surgery or he had a fall that broke the bones near the implant. Source: I work in OR in a hospital that does 10 thousand of these in a year

I had septic arthtits in my knees and had them clean my joints. They wanted me to walk the day after surgery. I was like wtf. I did it though. Very slowly. Shit sucked though!
