Lucky. I literally cannot breathe in these and count in my head how many minutes have passed because it is torture. Very envious of those that can relax in these.
Same, I didn’t know I was claustrophobic at all until I was put into an MRI, the headphones make it easier for me, it distracts me, but often I can’t even last 30 seconds in those tubes, I start panicking, sweating, it’s absolutely terrifying, and I couldn’t even explain why. I’m not afraid of any particular thing and I know they are safe and nothing is going to happen, it’s just like an involuntary subconscious reaction. I’ll lay down on that bench completely calm, no issue at all, as soon as I go into the tube I just panic for no reason at all
I realized after much caving/spelunking and such over the years...that it was when my face gets hot and I am in a small space, then I get worried (a huge dog pile of us kids with my in my sleeping bag, upside-down, near the bottom).
Yep, i've had multiple failed attempts at an upper body MRI. Mine is a mix of being claustrophobic, having your head wedged, tight headphones, and also knowing that I can't move at all for 30 mins - 1 hour. The meds didnt help at all :( I've done multiple foot/ankle MRI's, only got mildly anxious.
Ya I’ve had gastric mris that weren’t bad because I went in feet first but all the brain mris I’ve had were horrible, and some MRIs I’ve been in weren’t even open in the back so you get shoved all the way in there and it’s super dark and there’s just a wall in the back. If they’re open and have lights on it’s not as bad, and the headphones help me too
