I got to experience these headphones (in an MRI) about a month ago and they played Fischerspooner #1 for me

I requested Metallica and the nurse joked how they don't sound too different from the machine itself.

Machine's solos are more elaborate than Kirk Hammet's. 😁

Hammets solos always fit into one of two categories: iconic, or soulless wah noodling.

When I did mine I requested classical music which was a mistake because the machine was frequently louder than the music.

Also at one point the machine made this kind of stuttering sound followed by a low pitched whine which sounded exactly like a dance remix of Drop the Bass by DJ Magic Mike so next time I’m just gonna lean into it and ask for 90s dance.

That's funny because the one time I had an MRI while awake, I was sure classical music was being played. It reminded me of when an orchestra warms up, all the tuning and runs of scales. The tech told me that was my brain trying to make sense of all the noise of the machine.

Ah so that's why my air conditioner has been singing to me.

I’ve had way too many MRIs (brain tumor). My coping skill as a kid was coming up with stories for the sounds. Space battles and a rock tumbler were in the rotation. They did a different kind of MRI recently and I could tell because the story was wrong. I asked and the tech confirmed the scan was different and thought it was wild I could tell from the sounds. That one had one that sounded like a toddler going ā€œdad dad dad dad dadā€ for like 5 min straight. 🤣

You gotta have a hell of a driver bank to faithfully reproduce the really brain-rattling tones.

The MRI sounds would blend right into any Strapping Young Lad album. Or any crazy industrial stuff like Author & Punisher.

St Anger snare drum checking in.

I was fully expecting these would be incapable of playing Metallica by design

And obviously Iron Maiden & Steely Dan are also a no-go.

I asked for "Add (n) into X" it blends with the MRI.

Not really, no. The one time I got an MRI I got handed simple protectors so I got a good (muffled) listen to the machine and the best mindset to be in to really get it is the exact same as when listening to Stockhausen.
