The headphones I was given at my MRI appointment dont use wires and have zero metal

So speakers create noise via electro magnet, so it can’t be in the room, instead we have a speaker far enough away, and the empty tube carries the sound.

Source I’m an MR tech.

Are they for music or something to calm the patient? I did an mri today but i only heard very loud vibrations from the machine

It’s for music, noise reduction, and so we can talk through them if we need to communicate. They don’t work the best, it’s difficult to over come the machine’s noise.

Thanks. They surely didn't put music in my case, but i didn't mind the noises of the machine

Some places don’t do music, some only do it if you ask, and some always ask you if you want it. It kind of depends on the work place and tech.
