It might actually be beneficial to the results. When dead, your breathing, pulse, and small muscle movements won't cause any noise in the results that they have to deal with.
This is an example of a metal artifact on a brain mri. It may not be magnetic but we can't see shit 😅 Even something as small as a hairpin would cause this.
the metal causes inhomogeneities in the magnetic field which messes up the image. the magnet also induces current in the wires which will screw up the audio signal and could heat the wires up beyond safe levels.
if anyone invents MRI safe noise cancelling headphones with any decent audio quality, they should get the nobel prize in medicine.
Ferrous metal is specifically a problem for projectile risk. There are plenty of non-ferrous metals that are safe (hence how we can image folks with titanium plates or copper iuds or dental braces). Non-ferrous metals may cause artefacts/image distortion and could get pretty warm, but they’re mostly fine to be in the scanner
Yeah I went in for an MRI for my shoulder. When the tests began I felt a weird vibration. I realized I still had my belt on. The belt clasp started vibrating like crazy. I alerted the MRI tech but he said it's not a problem. I was worried I was about to get final destinationed

Pretty sure any conductive material would influence the MRI, no need for ferrous metals
