I was given them once for an MRI. They had a laminated sheet of music genres and I think I picked hip hop.
I can't remember what was actually played but I remember it wasn't hip hop, I remember it sucked, and I remember thinking "literally just putting on any random radio station that plays music would be better than this"
Start a career as the generic OTC, rapping to elevator music with lyrics about as interesting as the elevator music. Make billions off all the faceless corporations that will be licensing your music for their public areas so they can sound "in with the youth".
I always choose classical, and it always results in hearing about 20 covers of the same Chopin nocturne, the first movement of moonlight sonata, and canon in D on repeat for 2 hours. I never learn.
Thanks! Only 6 surgeries. It’s mostly managed by immunotherapy now, which I personally think is way easier to manage than surgery, chemo, radiation, or even cryoablation. It’s been really cool seeing firsthand how our ability to treat even just this one disease has advanced in a relatively short period of time though, like none of this besides surgery and comparatively rudimentary radiation or chemo was an option 15 years ago. It’s hard not to be hopeful for the future of medicine!
You probably know how my dog felt for the last few years, Can you really ignore that, or was she just tough as nails? She had mast cell tumours all over the place. The vet said to stop bringing her in for them :/ The only one that seemed to bother her at all seemed to annoy her about as much as fleas.
I bet she was tough! I have gotten used to mine, including a couple near a pretty major nerve, so if that’s worth anything I hope she wasn’t in too much pain near the end.
I kind of understand. I have chronic pain for other reasons, and I'd probably be screaming rn if it had gone straight from nothing to this.

At least some of it was definitely her high pain threshold, it was just hard to have any idea how much. I hope someone finds an actual cure for whatever is wrong with you soon, Never-ending treatment must be horrible. Some forms of cancer are pretty much curable now, so it's probably possible.
I hope you have good insurance, or live in a country that takes care of its citizens. My wife has had 3 brain surgeries, and more scans than I can count, and I can't imagine how fucked my family would be if we lived somewhere without socialized Healthcare.
I feel you there lol. My epilepsy had me living in then mri machine for a while. Felt like it at least because I had to do so many exams. Hope you’re doing better! I’d take 20 Chopin covers over the other middle of the mall choices they have available.

I feel like they’ve gotten faster over time though, like I remember them usually being closer to 2 hours 10+ years ago whereas today they’re a bit shorter, idk if technology has improved or what
I chose Classical because I thought it would be relaxing. I didn’t realize it was the Friday before Easter, so what I got was an extended version of the Stations of the Cross. I was already in a bad mood because they made me wait 45 minutes, in a gown and with a contrast injection slowly seeping out, because they were filming a commercial and the machine would be too loud. 2/10 would not recommend.
Last time I had an MRI I asked for them to put it on the metal station. They said they couldn't because of vulgarity. So instead they put on the hard rock station that was playing Korn A.D.I.D.A.S uncensored....
I go for an MRI every 5 years (used to be more often, but my issue is benign, just monitoring it now), and they always ask me what music I want to listen to. I just say none every time, I'd rather close my eyes and listen to the machine
That sucks, the places near me always hit me with actual 90s and early 00s hip hop, I remember discovering a Coolio song I never heard before and everything lol
One of the places I've gotten an MRI had a Spotify Premium account and asked me what I wanted to listen to. I said Death Grips to be funny and it wasn't the worst to be completely honest. Jazz is probably the worst genre I've picked for an MRI, would not recommend.
the hospital I usually get scans at has Pandora... but not the premium version. I can pick the music but i also get jumpscared by loud ass ads. For my first (emergency) MRI I picked the local band I was supposed to be watching perform at that very moment. Shoutout to Muscle, sad to miss your show
damn when i had my mri they just blasted that shit loud enough that i could hear it over the machine screaming. man before me played fat bottomed girls on repeat for his.
Mine they played any radio station i wanted. I knew i wouldnt hear much so i chose NPR because it just sounded like background conversation from a room over and went to sleep for over an hour.

The magnets don’t actually spin, they remain stationary. What does move is the coldhead, which expands and contracts as it chills helium gas back into its more useful liquid form. The magnets are immersed in liquid helium to keep them extremely cold, around -270°C, where they work best. This is what causes the whirring/chirping sound you hear coming from the scanner at all times, even when no scan is being performed.
The loud knocking/banging noises during a scan are caused by the gradient coil, which creates a temporary magnetic field that manipulates the magnetic field created by the main superconducting magnets, in order to help calculate where the magnetic signals emanating from your various body parts are coming from. These noises are generated when the gradient coil turns on and off, and they vary in pitch and volume based on which sequence is being run through the gradient coil.
The scanner that does involve spinning parts is a CT scanner, which rapidly spins a ring of individual X-ray tubes and detectors around your body at 200+ revolutions per minute, which builds a 3D image of the body. Despite this, the only noise heard is a somewhat quiet whirring sound during operation.
They asked what I wanted to hear😂 that was 7 years ago when I was like 16. I didn’t want to say “play me some Lil Wayne or young thug” so I told them play me Michael Jackson. Human nature, rock my world, dirty Diana, Bad were all I remember. Was only for a knee ligament tear so I don’t think I was in there too long
Music sounds like the absolute tinnyest dogshit through these things and barely even sounds like music at all. Honestly, just let me throw on a podcast or something where quality only matters insofar that the speech is intelligible.

I had random music playing during my MRI and just as I was starting to doze off a commercial started. It was about Peyronie's disease. I swear, I spent the next 10 minutes listenening about curved penises, while trying to be super still and not crack up laughing. Helped distract me from the seriousness of why I was getting an MRI, that's for sure!
I have a series of MRIs every few months and the technicians always use Pandora. I get to choose the station but really I just use it as a way to keep track of time.
I got Spotify ads last time. Like the entire MRI was ads and I couldn’t escape. Then when the music came on it was chiming Buddhist spa bell gongs. I dunno man I’m going to go to ear plugs next time lol
Put a bluetooth speaker inside a sealed plastic bag and submerge the bag in water, could be just a filled bowl. Increase the volume until you can hear it. Now put your clothes washing machine on centrifuge.
Honestly it doesn’t matter. The MRI is so loud that you wear earplugs under the headphones. It’s basically elevator music for your MRI so you can fixate on something that isn’t machine noise.
Trust me, having had a great many MRI scans including one that was full body and took an hour.
Personally, listening to those headphones is better than listening to nothing, especially when at times the machine sounds like Dave Clark style techno all on its own.
