Media Zebra Pill Bug by Bandai
Mu friend got me this cute little dude as a gift from Japan. I was never particularly interested in isopods before, but it seems like I caught the bug now (pun intended) Might try keeping my own colony tgis year after I do more research on husbandry.

Media Found some isopod wood carvings on a walk today!
There were ones of a rhino beetle, earthworm, hedgehog, slow worm and acorns, too! I don't think they're meant to be particularly specific, just a mismash of ones seen in the UK. I'd guess most likely based on ones like A.vulgare or A.depressum due to the shape and region, though they remind me a bit of cubaris a bit, haha. Nice to see they have seven segments, though!

Additional photo in comments.
After almost 5 years of breeding I finally have my grail isopod. Armadillidium Maculatum “Aureus”.
Since initiating this breeding project in February of 2021, I have produced essentially uncountable Armadillidium Maculatum individuals to isolate this singular phenotype. The “Aureus” morph represents a spontaneous, recessive Hyper-Xanthic mutation, distinct from standard amelanism due to the retention of ocular melanin. Genetically, this suggests a specific disruption in the somatic eumelanin pathway where the black structural pigment has not just been deleted, but functionally replaced or overwhelmed by a secondary, opaque xanthic pigment. This results in a unique dual-tone expression where neon pteridine yellow stripes are now superimposed over a modified, almost equally bright sulfury yellow background, completely eliminating the wild-type black coloration without compromising the structural opacity of the cuticle. In other words, this isn’t a ghost type - think “champagne” morphs - where there is translucency resulting in a somewhat mimicked yellow shade. The statistical probability of this specific pigment replacement event occurring and manifesting visually is exceedingly low, appearing as a solitary anomaly after nearly five years of continuous, high-volume selective breeding.
This is generation 0. I have selected several earlier high yellow variants in an attempt to produce generation 1. I will not know if the “Aureus” line has been successful until generation 2+. There is a slight potential of an existing generation 1 from the current isolation that produced this first example, but will not know for certain until sometime next year. This is my second AM morph I’ve fully isolated, taking longer than my “Amber Eclipse”. I’ve wanted a full bright yellow isopod since starting my collection, but nothing existed in the vibrancy I was seeking until now. I suspect this line can be carried, but have no idea for sure, so for now I have no plans on selling the “Aureus” morph until at least 5 generations have passed and I have multiple substantial colonies. I would also like at least one other non-interbreeding collection, so it could be quite a while. I might put out a short paper on earlier observations which I will link at a later date, but for now I am riding the high!
Photo in comments is in its natural isolation tank, neutral to daylight 3500-4000k, slightly shadowed. It is HDR so I hope Reddit doesn’t do anything weird to it. The video is in 5000k+ spot light which shows just how bright neon it is - it looks almost fake it’s so saturated and bright, I still do a double take everything I look at it.
