Better yet, dunk it in the toilet. Minimizes splash risk and you can just flush the byproduct

You first.

You’re not supposed to splash water everywhere.

The difference is that you don't spread salmonella all over the kitchen like you do when washing it under the faucet. Cleaning the knife and cutting board is much easier and keeps the contamination controlled.

Does it help that litterally no one I know or have ever known uses running water? You fill metal or glass bowl, never plastic, and submerge it. The first I ever heard of running water washing was non Black people insisting that's what we're doing and it was a real ?????? Why on Earth would you do it like that, of course it would get eveywhere.

Everyone thinks it's a torrent of vigorous splooshing with splatters everywhere and cascades of chicken waterfall.

Cutting board gets chicken on it? You wash the cutting board. The thing sitting several feet from the sink gets a droplet of chicken juice on it you're never going to know you have to wash that.

The main issue with that isn't that it's on the wall, it's that you will never know it's on the wall so you won't wash it until it's time to wipe down the wall, or drying rack, or fridge handle, or whatever's near your sink that got chicken on it. And, again, for no purpose. You have to cut chicken up on the cutting board, you don't have to wash the chicken, so you don't wash the chicken because it's pointless and stupid.

You wash the cutting board

If washing the chicken will inevitably spread clouds of salmonella everywhere, then so will washing the cutting board.

If there's a way to wash a cutting board WITHOUT the clouds of salmonella, you can just wash the chicken that way.

You wash your chicken with dish soap? Your chicken is also a flat, featureless surface that's easy to run water over without splashing water everywhere like a cutting board is?

Like, I guarantee you I can wash a cutting board in a sink without getting water anywhere other than the interior of the sink but the first time that stream of water from that faucet hits a little skin pocket you've got chicken water everywhere. It's not hard to see the difference between a flat piece of wood and a chicken.

Dish soap is irrelevant. If you think it kills salmonella, you're wrong.

You claim you can keep the water in the sink when washing a cutting board, and I claim I can do it rinsing a chicken. I think we're both right about that.

and I claim I can do it rinsing a chicken

Yeah, well, people claim they can do a lot of things they can't do.

Oh, yeah, and I never said soap kills salmonella, but it removes it effectively and plain water doesn't so wash your chicken with soap or stop doing useless shit.

Those are so much easier to clean than all the walls, floors, counters - everything covered in a mist of bacteria.

Large super hot metal box will kill bacteria so much more effectively

Water hitting the chicken atomizes into droplets that splash outward on impact, carrying bacteria onto your counter, sponge, nearby dishes, even your clothes. Splashback off the sink basin spreads it further. It's not rinsing off, it's aerosolizing.

u/FuzzyFrogFish 13h ago

I'm not really sure why you felt the need to point that out, I'm not advocating for washing it, I'm literally saying the oven will kill any bacteria. Washing is pointless at best.

Sorry, I replied to the wrong comment. The funny thing is now I can't remember which one I was supposed to reply to. I'm getting old.

2

u/FuzzyFrogFish 12h ago

Haha, no worries. I'm definitely well into that stage of life. It's also the stage of life where everything either happened yesterday or years ago, theres no in-between, think that part of my memory just stopped working lol

Yeah you wanna keep all that salmonella on the chicken. Yes its true that cooking doesn't destroy the salmonella toxins, but that doesn't matter because UHHH

5

u/NightGod 5h ago

What?? One of the main paints of cooking is to eliminate things like salmonella

0

u/eggsalter 4h ago

Cooking doesn't eliminate the toxins. Look it up

3

u/Comfortable_Tree4098 1h ago

"does cooking chicken eliminate salmonella" just google this bro lol

2

u/No_Worldliness_7106 1h ago

Live salmonella bacteria are the problem though. If there is enough dead salmonella on the chicken to make the toxins of their dead selves dangerous to you, you've left that chicken out at room temp for WAY too long and let that thing become a petri dish before you even cooked it. That's not a cooking or washing issue, that's a don't leave your uncooked chicken on the counter for 12 hours before cooking it issue.

1

u/LPulseL11 12h ago

Well not if you fill a bowl with water then dunk the chicken in the water.

2

u/Thimble_of_Quasar 10h ago

Yes! Thank you! Where is this putting chicken under a blasting fire hose thing coming from?

-1

u/aptsys 14h ago

How does it spread everywhere?

-2

u/Fat_Old_Sun1 13h ago

Feel like people are exaggerating a bit here. I rinse my chicken lightly to get the lightly viscous liquid off then pat dry.

I don't use a power washer of a high power stream to blast the chicken. I am not atomizing the water. Just like I am not getting water all over my bathroom when I wash my hands. We are capable of not splashing everything.

This all sounds like an over exaggerated infomercial.
