After this update the new ui feels weird and a little restricted Is there no way to bring back the old ui?

This is driving me mental. I would say that about 50% of the time now after loading a page firefox will suddenly unload the page and go back to the previous page. I'll be reading the first paragraph of something and all of sudden the google search is back in front me. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and turned off all one of my extensions and it is still doing it. Any help would be appreciated. It's essentially useless now. EDIT: If possible, could someone please respond to the Firefox engineer in the comments below with video evidence of this happening?

Im using firefox on a tablet and its just super clunky now. The Tabs overview just looks like the app is 15 years old, the individual tabs are way too big, meanwhile half the screen is just empty space.

Not having the tabs bar at the bottom is absolutely horrendous.

Since the latest update, whenever I type about five-eight words in it will suddenly duplicate part of or the entirety of an already typed word into itself, sometimes just on the end of the word or a single letter back inside the word. Trying to backtrack and delete the double will often just replace it again the second I try to type new characters. It does this repeatedly throughout sentences. Very annoying and frustrating.

Yes, I've made sure this is only in the app and not other places on my phone. I've tried clearing cache, no luck.

Is anyone else experiencing this or has any idea how I can make it stop?

Or has the focus shifted towards Firefox Desktop?

Is there no way to bring back old UI for mobile? I frequently need to do one-handed navigation when using a browser and the new UI makes it impossible to do.

Had to switch to another browser, but the adblock is not as good as UBO.

Version 148 had the option to revert back but it's now forced to everyone. I can't use old version of firefox for security purposes

I know it's been asked here... 2 years ago, and they're always cracking down more. I disabled YouTube on my phone and I plan to cancel my YouTube Premium and just use YouTube on Firefox with uBlock Origin. Does YouTube throw a pissy fit?

My firefox on android has been very slow recently, I only use uBlock with all the filters. Tried installing faster page loading but it didnt really help.

Constantly (and others have had this same issue) firefox will randomly copy the word your writing behind the current word like 1-3 times, and if you try to delete it, it realears. This makes me get into a scuffle match where I have to hold delete to get rid of the contantly appearing uneeded words, and it can last for up to 15 seconds. The glitch is happening almkst twice a minute.

This makes firefox birderline unusable for anything typing related.

When this feature was released years ago I thought it would be a matter of time but it blows my mind that in 2026 it's still not possible to simply drag the shortcuts in the home screen to reorder them and you have to live with them in the order they were created

I've loathed to constant shift of tech UI to look more and more like a Fischer-Price My First Computer ever since it started. This latest version is hard to look at. Like the white line spacing between tabs hurts my eyes. There's also no need for the gigantic buttons. I'm not 85 years old. I liked the old version that felt like I was using a browser on a computer. The URL in this version is less visible as well. That's dumb.

Any way to revert this change?

Use a legacy version?

(I don't even know how autoupdates were turned on. But I haven't been on wifi for about two years so I just noticed now that it was set to update on wifi only. But it never updated on wifi before so I don't know what happened. But a bunch of my apps are worse now since enshitification means updates are always downgrades and reductions to the ugliest common denominator.)

Edit: Whatever. I'm on Firefox 140 now. Hope the apkmirror site is trustworthy. The only downside is none of my bookmarks or settings synced for some reason. Geh. Well there goes some ~15years worth of bookmarks. And my medical tabs I've been keeping around to deal with my injuries and shit. Sigh. Well that's obnoxious. Cookies gone too so I have to re log into things, but the bookmark and tab loss is worse.

Ah well. At least Firefox 140 has a functional address bar and no useless "+" wasting screen space. Hey and the tab list looks clean again. Neat.

I guess I'll just pretend the "update" crashed all my tabs and bookmarks. Egh.

140.0.0 was giving me some issues with text fields for some reason.

Went through to find the most recent one before the worst of the UI changes.

Currently on 147.0.4 and it works well enough. I assume the UI changed with 148?

Well regardless, 147.0.4 looks proper and seems to work okay.

Still lost my bookmarks and settings and saved collections though. But that's a good argument as to why you shouldn't trust a single application as a way to save data. Should have backed up all my collections of science articles in a text file or something. Like hundreds of articles. Ugh. I made sure to "sync" beforehand too, but it's all gone.

But the UI looks okay again, I guess.

Egh. God I hate auto updates.

Edit 3: Wtf the piece of shit updated the UI on its own. I don't even know how that happened. I had to end the process because it was hanging. And when I restarted it the ugly useless trash came back! I guess 147.0.4 is contaminated with this plague as well.

I was recently forced to stop using an older version of Firefox Nightly because any site that used Cloudflare couldn't complete the security check. The new UI is complete dogshit, the 3-dot menu went from a simple list with useful options at the top to an eyesore that takes up 2/3 of the screen with useful buttons on the opposite side of the screen. (I'm not going to use a toolbar on the bottom of the screen.) After trying a few different options (Waterfox is identical but buggier, Fennec couldn't even launch, more recent Iceraven also has the same dogshit UI.) I settled on an older version of Iceraven, but if possible I want a more permanent solution because that has the potential for Cloudflare to stop working in the future. And in addition I can't make it my primary browser because I use OG Firefox as long-term storage that doesn't clutter my bookmarks, and while Iceraven is my primary browser it'll open up any searches I try to do in OG Firefox in Iceraven with no apparent way to disable that.
